Beautiful Beachy Head birdwatching

Despite the challenges of a dull cloudy day I had an Excellent day trip guided by Matt Eade. The trip was a huge learning experience because of Matts knowledge of the area and understanding of the birds in the area. Eg flushing out the Grasshopper warbler, naming the differences between swifts and sand martins etc in all a great ...

Good views of lots of bird species

Lovely reserve with open water, reed bed, woodland & views of Morecambe Bay. Saw lots of ducks, waders, birds of prey & woodland species. Very knowledgeable leader.

Splendid Plant Identification Day

I spent a day with a leader and four others, visiting three Suffolk fens. The sheer amount of different plant species, some of them rare or unusual, was impressive. We also saw unusual insects and arachnids, fungi and a few birds. The tour leader had an extensive general knowledge and was also very familiar with the three localities, which meant she knew exactly where to locate some specimens. A brilliant day out.

Day Trip to Cambridgeshire Fens

Excellent guide, Duncan McNiven, who was very good at spotting birds and dragonflies I otherwise wouldn't have been seen. He was also very good at helping beginners like myself identify the birds and what they do.

Brilliant idea to organise a programme of day trips with limited numbers. It enables people to get their nature fix in what would have otherwise been a wasted season.

Day at Otmoor 25th August 2020.

A long half day in the wet lands of Otmoor Nature Reserve. A small party of five plus our first class guide Jessica Turner who showed us many things which from my point of view would have been missed without her leadership.

Naturetrek single day guided trip

A guided walk through 3 Suffolk fens with an experienced local wildlife expert. Only 5 participants due to Covid restrictions, very well planned and excellent value.

We have done several week long NatureTrek holidays already, all excellent. The single day's out covid response is a very welcome opportunity to get out into the fresh air with a knowledgeable guide.

Day in and around Selborne

Our group of 5 meant that our highly-knowledgeable, sharp-eared and sharp-eyed tour guide was always near to hand when offering information or answering questions. The environs of the village of Selborne offered a varied habitat which suited us. We saw a wide variety of wild and planted flowers, trees and other plants together with a small and interesting selection of birds, butterflies and dragon flies. (There would have been more fliers, but for the high winds that day.) On our feet for much of the day we were grateful for the advice to wear walking shoes and for the protection of long-sleeved shirts and trousers along some slightly overgrown pathways. Given the wide variety of bridleways and footpaths in the area (and us not being the best of map-readers) it was hugely advantageous not having to worry about the route that we were taking.

A self isolating guided nature tour

Another excellent guided tour with a personable and knowledgable naturetrek guide. Exploring the fauna flora and topography of an area unfamiliar to me. The guides knowledge was excellent. From the black-tailed godwits to the parasitic oak galls to the rare plants in the paving slabs of Wivenhoe. Although we battled the wind and resultant decline in species venturing out, the guide always knew of an area where he could impart his knowledge. ...

From the black-tailed godwits to the parasitic oak galls to the rare plants in the paving slabs of Wivenhoe. Although we battled the wind and resultant decline in species venturing out, the guide always knew of an area where he could impart his knowledge. I learned a great deal. We will go again. These day trips are an excellent way of providing nature tours to the public in difficult times and providing some employment opportunity to guides stranded at home by the pandemic.

I have been with Naturetrek for many years. And I trust that they will always take you to the best areas for wildlife spotting. The knowledge of the guides used is always excellent.

Delightful day in the Dearne Valley

A full day's walk in the Dearne Valley led by a guide with expertise in birds, insects, plants and trees. Necessarily a small group of six to meet Covid guidelines all of whom got on extremely well. Good sightings of birds, butterflies, dragonflies and excellent identification of plants and the origin of their names - and historic medical uses.
