Fantastic holiday - shame about the after care

We travelled with Transindus on their Southern Explorer trip which was very well organised and we have no complaint about the actual holiday. We travelled with Transindus on their Southern Explorer trip which was very well organised and we have no complaint about the actual holiday. We would, however, like to warn future travellers of a bad experience we had after being taken to the Nethra Arts and Crafts Emporium in Mysore by our Transindus guide for the day. We decided to purchase two items at a total cost of 2,800 rupees (£28.00)and opted to pay by credit card. After two attempts at entering the PIN we were told the transaction had failed. There then followed a lot of 'confusion'amongst the shop assistants and we were quickly ushered to the front of the store where I re-entered my PIN and the transaction was successful. Both receipts were placed in the bag with our purchases and we had no reason to check these receipts - after all there is a sign beside the door stating the store is "Government Approved"! Upon our return to the UK, we discovered that we had in fact been charged 28,000 rupees (£280.00) for the two items and believe that an extra 'O' was added during the period of 'confusion' without our realising.

Rating for tour operator:

Transindus have not been at all helpful in trying to resolve this matter for us - their Cochin office has not even returned our e-mails - very disappointing. We would just like to warn future travellers to be very careful when visiting shopping establishments at the suggestion of their guide. On reflection, this particular guide disappeared very quickly upon our entering the store and, unlike previous guides was not on hand to ensure we were protected against any unscrupulous operators.

A wonderful experience magnificently organised.

Private tour of Northern India and Kathmandu Nepal. The agents in each destination were brilliant and did exactly what they said they would do- no room for anxiety! The drivers were excellent and the guides were open, friendly and knowledgable, and they went the extra mile to make the experience special. Hotels were all very good but one or two had particularly fine cuisine and a very high standard of service.

A 3 week trip to NE India

This was our 7th trip to India with this company. Since the 1st just 10 years ago we have been hooked on the country and its people. This area - the north of West Bengal Sikkim & Assam were very different from other parts of India but no less interesting. The indigenous population look Asian rather than Indian, there are some fabulous Buddhist monasteries. We spent a week cruising up the Brahmaputra River during which we saw no other European ...

We spent a week cruising up the Brahmaputra River during which we saw no other European Tourists as well as time in the Kaziranga National Park watching one horned rhinos and other animals. We also spent a few days in Calcutta which has great character and quickly became our favourite Indian city

We booked our first trip to India in 2004 with TransIndus - the CEO himself responded to my initial email and we have not looked back. Their Office staff most of whom are of Indian origin are very knowledgeable & helpful in planning our tailor made tours and although I often throw in a request to do something outside of the normal tourist beat they have never failed to come up with a suitable itinerary. We have asked hoteliers guides and drivers their opinion and they all rate Transindus highly.

Absolutely fantastic

Our trip to India was the most amazing enjoyable experience ever with excellent driver, comfortable car, guides who were knowledgeable and interesting who let us look at our own speed and stopped if we wanted to look at something not on the itinerary and tour reps at every step of the way ensuring our travel was totally hassle free, the hotels this group uses are all of an extremely high standard and good value, all staff at hotels were welcoming ...

I have already recommended Transindus to several friends. We flew to Delhi, tours of New and Old Delhi, then on to Agra mainly of course to see the Taj Mahal from there Fatehpur Sikri , Bharatpur and the bird sanctuary, on to Ranthambore visiting Deeg palace and garden before boarding the train to Ranthambore, two very good days safari's having a brilliant viewing of a Tiger along with a wide variety of other animals, this was followed by a visit to the beautiful city of Bundiand then on to Samode where we were based for our tours of Jaipur.

We area delights to hear Jonathan & Jacqueline Elliott had a pleasant and relaxing holiday; confirming once again that Kerala makes an ideal destination for first time visitors.

With a gentle pace, excellent food including amazing sea-food and a combination of culture, nature, wildlife and some of India's best beaches make it one of India's most inviting destinations.

TransIndus - The leading Asia Specialist responded to this review on 05 Jun 2014:

A big thank you to Charmaine, one of our very loyal supporters.

Wonderful Southern India, stimulates all the senses..

From Bangalore, travelled by car with Premjit, our driver, who kept us very safe. Karnataka was so diverse and unforgettable; the magnificent Hoysala Temple at Belur, the equally spectacular Mysore Palace (weren't we lucky to be there on a Sunday night when all 92,000 light bulbs are lit!), tracking tigers in Nagarhole National Park with the best guide ever, travelling four hours on the toy train from Ooty with a group of ladies and a Honeymoon ...

What's not to love?

Rating for tour operator:

TransIndus gave us tremendous service, from our first telephone enquiry to leaving Cochin Airport at the end of our long journey through Southern India. Although we travelled independently with a car and driver, the support from Cochin Office by phone was tremendous. Regular calls to make sure that we were okay were very much appreciated. In fact all the arrangements made on our behalf, including transfers, transport and accommodation were really excellent. We intend to travel with TransIndus again and have already recommended them to friends.

Excellently arranged from start to finish

We visited the lesser known parts of Rajasthan with a car and driver to an excellent programme arranged by TransIndus leaving us in the main with two nights at each destination to make the most of the travelling and stop-over time. We stayed at Heritage Hotels throughout which we can highly recommend for anyone travelling in the state. Your comfort and the hospitslity of your hosts cannot be bettered .
