Wonderful holiday in costa rica

We went with Naturetrek to Costa Rica. Despite 5 days of rain to start with the wonderful naturalist still made the holiday a great experience. Lots of different habitats looking at animals and birds, darting from cover to cover to try and remain dry to start with, then once we hit the good weather fantastic days out including two boat trips which were highlights for us.

We have used Naturetrek several times and have always found them to be friendly and efficient. The main reason we go with them is that they provide extremely knowledgeable naturalists which makes a huge difference to the holiday for us.

Somerset Levels January trip for starling mumurations

This was a tour guide led holiday in the Somerset Levels with the main highlight being to see murmurations of starlings but also to take in all the wonderful wildlife in Somerset in the winter. The holiday base was in Wells. A lovely place with easy access to the levels and the hotel was lovely. Nature performed wonderfully. There were 2 evening views of the starling roost - each one different! The early morning view of the starlings flying back into the fields was incredible. Well worth getting up early. Each day we travelled to a different part of the levels to see the levels to see the range of waterfowl. Great views of cranes with the addition of hearing their special calls! A great holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

The holiday was run by NatureTrek who organise wildlife/nature tours worldwide. The holiday included breakfast and dinner with lunch being extra. The accommodation was great with views over the green to Wells Cathedral.

Florida - a wonderful wildlife experience

The holiday was a wildlife trip led by 2 great guys from Naturetrek who were very friendly and fun to be with. The superb wildlife experiences on this holiday occurred on every day of the trip and will live in the memory a long time. Florida is filled with many great sites for nature not just the iconic Everglades. The sightings of birds were exceptional, many at close range allowing good oportunities for photography. Would recommend this holiday ...

Information given before the trip was excellent. Leaders of the trip in Florida were excellent and great to be around. They really made the holiday enjoyable taking away any hassles which meant we could relax and just enjoy the wildlife.

Great birding in the Somerset Levels

A great chance to see the amazing starling murmuration with up to 500,000 birds displaying over the reed beds each night. These produced an amazing spectacle accompanied by the resident sparrowhawks, peregrines, marsh and hen harriers. Despite the poor weather we were able to get out and about in other parts of the levels seeing thousands of wintering wildfowl and several common cranes.

Spectacular and magical

14 night cruise around Galapagos + 2 nights in Quito either end. It was a massive privilege to walk through nesting colonies of frigates and boobies, find some late-leaving albatrosses, be constantly escorted at sea by flocks of petrels and phalaropes and pause until sea lions, iguanas or tortoises decided to move off the path. The guide was fantastic, the boat crew a total delight.

Rating for tour operator:

I chose Naturetrek because they were one of the few companies offering a 14 night cruise and for their specialism in environmentally friendly holidays. The pre-departure information and general organization were all very good.

Tanzania highlights

The group was only 3 plus the leader making is almost a private tour, which really helped in finding the animals, birds and plants we wanted to see. Virtually everything worked and was found, many sightings were one-of-a-kind experiences. I will probably never go there again as any next time can not be as good as this was.

gorilla trekking in Uganda

A great visit to a country we hadn't thought about visiting before with the highlights being Gorilla trekking and Chimpanzee tracking. Getting up close with our closest relatives in the wild is a truly memorable experience that will never be forgotten.

Naturetrek have always provided us with a first rate service. The local guide that they sourced for this trip was outstanding, and his knowledge of the things that we saw was exceptional, he also went out of his way to ensure that we succeeded in seeing all of the wildlife we had hoped to see.
