An excellent introduction to renaissance and baroque Rome

My wife and I went on Martin Randall's "Connoisseur's Rome", 3-8 November 2015. The tour was accompanied by an expert lecturer who was able to convey a lot of information to a mainly non-specialist audience in a very approachable and good-humoured way, and a tour manager who was a discreet presence, efficiently phoning ahead to check arrangements, accompanying participants when appropriate, and offering useful local advice (e.g. on restaurants) ...

An added attraction of the tour was visits to several palazzos not normally open to the public. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and learned a lot about Rome.

This was our second Martin Randall tour. As previously, organisation was excellent throughout, from initial enquiry to the return journey. I am sure that we will travel with Martin Randall again.

Art in Texas

Rich Texans buy the best art in the world. Sometimes they create collections which they tend to donate to the state. This is what we were looking at. We went on a great journey from Houston to Marfa (to see Donald Judd's sculptures) to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth. There are wonderful collections in all these places. We went in November expecting cold weather but it was the best time to travel there. The summer must be hot.

They keep up a constant stream of information as soon as they have it so that when you go to a far off destination you have at least some knowledge of the places you will visit.

A stimulating intellectual experience with a comfortable hotel.

The Year of Annuversaries involved high quality professional historians lecturing on their areas of expertise. The setting of Lincoln added to the enjoyment.

Over the years I have travelled many times with Martin Randall. One can usually be guaranteed exactly what has been described with an occasional relapse. The itinerary is good and hotels well chosen. Although expensive they are value for money.

Monteverdi in Venice - an exploration of Monteverdi and his works

This proved to be a wonderful holiday. We learnt a great deal about the composer and his life. Everything was impeccably organised.

We have travelled with Martin Randall Travel 50 times and have always been extremely satisfied. On this occasion our flight from LHR was cancelled due to fog. Members of the Martin Randall staff had stayed up until 3am organising alternative flights from Stansted in order to get us to Venice for the start of the Festival.

A rich but relaxed learning experience with superb lecturer , intriguing itinerary ,beautiful accommodation and great food.

The Martin Randall Venetian Hills tour from 1st-5th October 2015 exceeded my expectations. Based in the comfort and superb service of the Hotel Dei Chiostri in picturesque Follina about 45 mins drive northwest of Venice over the five days , about 17 of us travelled daily in a bus with a very skilled driver to a different cultural centre (eg Bassano del Grappa, Belluno, Treviso) through stunning mountain scenery. The rich and humorous stories from our passionate art historian Joachim Strupp ,combining art history, politics, restoration & sociology kept us entertained and eager to learn more . The warm and nurturing tour manager Patrizia, had seamlessly arranged visits to a range of churches, museums, houses, town halls and theatres in each of the locations as well as some wonderful dinners and a lunch that were included in the tour price. Nothing was too much trouble and the company of the small group of other relaxed English, Canadian , American & Australian over-50's travellers led to many enjoyable and stimulating conversations along the way.

I had savoured the drawings in the collector's quality Martin Randall catalogues for over ten years till I could arrange to get to Europe from Australia.. From the beginning the administration was friendly and efficient. Everything went smoothly on the trip , the accommodation and meals were wonderful and the lecturer was absorbing. The itinerary was very varied , unique and beautiful providing entry to many places and people that an individual would not be able to arrange. . It was a thoroughly wonderful experience and I would genuinely recommend it to anyone interested in art and history who wanted it very well organised to maximise the time available to experience the learning and the places.

Blissful musical week in Venice

We travelled on MRT's "Monteverdi in Venice: The Four Operas" Music Festival. Our hotel, the music, lectures and overall experience was spectacular and even exceeded our already high expectations of the week.

Monteverdi in Venice. Music of the highest standard, impeccably organized.

5 days in Venice, listening to live performances of 17th century music by musicians of the highest international standard. Performances took place in interesting palaces and churches, and there were accompanying very helpful lectures. The whole added up to a coherent and very satisfying overview of Monteverdi's achievements. The tour organization (travel, accommodation, meals) was impeccable.

Very attentive to detail. There are always many MRT guides on hand to make sure you don't get lost and everything runs smoothly. MRT certainly had plenty to deal with on the first day, when fog closed all the London airports, but we all arrived in Venice in time to enjoy the first evening.
