Classical Greece: from Mycenae to classical Athens, via museums, sites and great restaurants

We were a small party with a delightful and enthusiastic academic lecturer, a charming and calm tour manager and a brilliant local guide (also a very good coach driver, essential for the very scenic drives through the numerous mountains). The hotels were uniformly excellent as were the often al fresco restaurants. One had a power cut and improvised amazingly tasty sharing dishes. The hotels were uniformly excellent as were the often al fresco restaurants. One had a power cut and improvised amazingly tasty sharing dishes. Pacing was good with a balance of spectacular sites (taken at a reasonable pace (there were lots of hills involved), fascinating museums (I was thrilled to see so many of the object illustrated in my pre-trip reading), and free time.

Rating for tour operator:

I have traveled many times with Martin Randal Travel. Groups are small, the support team on the tour always personable, knowledgeable and very competent. One never feels rushed in site visits and it is always clear that a lot of thought and research has gone into the itineraries and guiding approach. Administration is clear and timely. The brochure is very helpful on what to expect. Hotels and restaurants are always great and there is a balance between the organised and independent meals. Tours are not cheap but I always feel i have had value for money.

We travelled to Paris and eastern Normandy (Rouen, Giverny, Auvers, Honfleur, Le Havre), concentrating on the Impressionist painters, and had a superb time.

Every day of the holiday was wonderful. We spent four nights in Rouen and one in Paris, and from both places we travelled by bus to museums and galleries with exhibitions of Impressionist paintings (by, among many others, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Boudin, Pisarro, Caillebotte and Morisot) and to places associated with the Impressionists, such as Monet's house and gardens in Giverny; the tiny room where Van Gogh lived in Auvers, as well as the church ...

In Paris, we visited the Musee d'Orsay and l'Orangerie. All in all, a perfect holiday.

Everything was perfectly organised, from our online booking to our return to St Pancras on Eurostar. The tour guide and the tour manager worked wonderfully together, and made sure that all went smoothly. The day trips were most interesting, the bus travel was very good, and the meals were delicious. My wife and I were spoiled rotten, in fact. This was our fifth tour with MRT, and it will certainly not be our last. In future, we shall always travel with MRT,

Cathedrals Tour of England with Martin Randall

This is a brilliant tour for those interested in art, architecture and history of the medieval period. The lecturer (Jon Cannon) was superb, and I now have a new understanding and appreciation of the cathedrals of England. The tour manager was attentive and well organised making sure that all members of the tour were cared for.

Excellent overview of Italian lake villas and gardens

Martin Randall's Italian lakes and villas tour is led by a knowledgeable and experienced guide with a nhelpful administrative assistant. The group is limited to 22 and we were taken by boat and on foot around bellagio and the borromeo islands on lake Maggiore. The tour is 6 days long which is just the right duration.

Rating for tour operator:

Very good attention to detail with careful planning. The one Monday in the tour was a public holiday which led to crowds and part of the group missing the boat. Other than this everything ran very smoothly and the gardens were in bloom and the lecturer increased our knowledge of history and horticulture.

Amazing India

The tour titled "Essential India" introduced us to an in depth experience of some of the most interesting places in India. In this regard the curation was excellent and with a quality lecturer made a memorable experience. Provided the opportunity to connect with a civilisation going back thousands of years. Never to be forgotten

Rating for tour operator:

The trip was arranged with them over the phone from my residence in the US and their offices in the UK. The staff was courteous, efficient and very well informed. They looked to all my concerns and made the entire experience very pleasant. The registration was simple, the pre-trip information extensive and very helpful. The tour manager was very efficient and capable. The Lecturer was highly competent and engaging. The other tour guests were great fun. The accommodations were exceptionally well planned, and I enjoyed it so much I extended my stay. It is THE finest tour I've taken with any company in the past 30 years. While it was my first Martin Randall Travel experience I am certain it will not be my last.
