(Overdue review from September 2025) Having never been on safari before, we depended on Expert Africa to guide us every step of the way from selecting a country to selecting camps. They did not disappoint. Each of the 2 hotels we stayed in (Lusaka and Victoria Falls) were of high standard with excellent service. Each of the 3 camps were exceptional. The accommodation was beautiful and well-appointed and the service and food in the camps was first class. Let's not forget about the animals and birds! The level of organisation was flawless. We had multiple transfers between hotels, safari camps and airports including circa 6 internal flights, ranging from medium sized to 4-seaters. We never had to worry, wait or think about what to do next. Someone was always there to assist us. Every security check, check-in, baggage claim and transfer was handled efficiently, allowing us to relax and focus entirely on enjoying our experience.

We discovered Expert Africa while reading the Bradt Zambia Safari Guidebook and planning our itinerary. As independent travellers, we rarely use agents, but Expert Africa completely changed our perspective! From start to finish, Amanda, our main contact, was outstanding. Her detailed knowledge, thoughtful guidance, and ability to balance our wish list with our budget were impressive—and that was just the planning stage! Before we left, we even received a hand-made travel wallet with our itinerary, a pen, luggage tags and a guidebook—a thoughtful touch we didn’t expect. Once we arrived, everything ran seamlessly from start to finish. We were met from every flight, experienced zero delays, and never encountered a single issue. Everyone who assisted us was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. The lodges Amanda selected were outstanding—especially the staff—and the order of our national park visits (Kafue, Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa, and finally Mosi-oa-Tunya) worked perfectly. We loved that each lodge was small (10 rooms or fewer), creating a personal and intimate experience. We never had to check our itinerary—every lodge knew our schedule, transfers, and even that I’m vegetarian (and catered for it perfectly). Mini game drives during transfers were an added bonus, and the fact that we saw so few other vehicles on game drives—sometimes none at all—really enhanced the sense of being completely immersed in the wilderness. What stood out most was the sheer quantity and quality of the wildlife encounters. We’ve been on two safaris before, but never have we been so close to the animals. It felt as if we were immersed in their world, and they were completely unbothered by our presence. We watched elephants with calves calmly strolling past, leopards lounging in trees or walking by with their young, wild dogs resting in the shade, and lions crunching on a kill while hyenas howled and circled just feet away. We saw carmine bee-eaters fleeing from raptors, Martial eagles with a fresh catch, and African fish eagles perched high above. The soundtrack of hundreds of hippos cooling in the rivers was unforgettable. Add to that playful vervet monkeys and baby baboons, graceful giraffes nibbling on acacia trees, zebras in all their striped glory, inquisitive impalas, warthogs snuffling in the dirt, mongoose darting around, and genets slipping past at night. Every moment felt like stepping into a wildlife documentary – it was truly unforgettable. This was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken, and we’ve travelled extensively! We wholeheartedly recommend Expert Africa, and the parks and lodges we visited, to anyone dreaming of exploring this incredible part of the world.

An organised trip to Lower Zambezi and South Luangua with multiple stay accommodation and internal travel by car and small planes. Expert Africa are indeed experts at organising this type of trip and the detailed documentation and follow ups leave nothing to chance, Their destination guide also takes care of some tricky questions like tipping, what to pack, visas and more. The absolute best thing I will probably do (unless I do this again!). Brilliant, unique experience from start to finish. Jason, the guide was excellent and really shared his knowledge and entertained the group. The more junior guide, Kamisa was excellent at spotting wildlife, answering questions and was supportive. Max and the guys at the camp couldn't have done better, I feel very humbled to have been on this trip. Excellent food, excellent waiting staff, the chef and baker were faultless - quite how the chef and the baker produce the food they do is puzzling. Hand baked treats at tea time in the morning & afternoon cakes and canapes in the evening, - I have never been so impressed. The attention to detail, such as warm water to wash your face in the morning and the way the tents were pulled down and put back up was a very smooth operation. Tables in the tents were rearranged at the next camp as they were left at the previous camp. We saw lots of animals and received in depth information from the guides on the workings of the eco system. I have never felt so connected to the earth, or touched by just how hard all involved worked to make this happen.

Listened to what I wanted, came up with a plan that demonstrated that they had listened and then Amanda walked me through every last detail, was available and really understood and had made multiple visits to the camps. I used the out of hours service for a question and was answered immediately. True experts in their product, which became clearer and clearer when I was there and heard experiences of other agents.

We realised a few years ago that we had been to a country beginning with every letter of alphabet except X (not possible) and Z so we decided this year to tackle Z. Expert Africa was recommended and their agent was very accommodating in making our holiday very special. She created 3 detailed itineraries for us and our selected itinerary covered a safari trip in Zambia and Victoria falls in Zimbabwe. Both experiences had a sort of a WOW factor and we couldn't have asked for more. We particularly liked Nkwali camp overlooking Luangwa river.

As mentioned above Expert Africa had little info from us in terms of requirements but we had a few telephone conversations with Amanda Bond who is obviously very experienced in terms of Zambian and Zimbabwean camps and managed to set us up an itinerary which covered the safari lodge and a bit of luxury afterwards to relax.

A wonderful fortnight on safari in Zambia, combining traditional safari game drives and walking safaris and staying at a variety of fantastic camps.

Expert Africa provided a truly bespoke service, talking with me about my priorities and helping narrow down the myriad of options for safari locations. The final itinerary proved to be exactly what I'd hoped, thanks mainly to the first-hand knowledge of the Expert Africa team.
