A stunning introduction to a surprising side of India.

A WF small group Recce tour to North East India that visited Mountains and Jungle, tea plantations and tribal villages was an eye opening introduction to a relatively unvisited corner of India. Places seen included the amazing Living Root bridges of Cherapunjee, Kaziranga NP (Rhino sightings virtually guaranteed!), Tea Plantations and the highlight, the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland. Places seen included the amazing Living Root bridges of Cherapunjee, Kaziranga NP (Rhino sightings virtually guaranteed!), Tea Plantations and the highlight, the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland. The latter was a sheer delight of colour and dancing and felt a privilege to be a part of. Impossible not to enjoy! Throw in some relaxing down time on a Brahmaputra River cruise and a trip that memories are made of was had!

Rating for tour operator:

Wild Frontiers are a small group and tailor made travel company with high ethical standards (responsible tourism definitely applies to them) and knowledgeable, highly professional staff who thoroughly research and plan each holiday. Dealing with office staff and local guides is always a pleasure and confidence inspiring. After three trips with them they have my complete trust and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who likes to feel less like a tourist and more like a traveler abroad.

India tour was a treat from start to finish

My wife and I took the Western Frontiers Real Marigold Hotel tour this month (November). It was very well planned and organized, and gave us a good close-up look at India. My wife and I took the Western Frontiers Real Marigold Hotel tour this month (November). It was very well planned and organized, and gave us a good close-up look at India. The trip included visits to Agra (Taj Mahal), Jaipur, Pushkar, Udapipur, as well as the actual Marigold Hotel. Our tour guide really tied it all together with some entertaining and informative talks on the bus rides, filling us in on the history and traditions and religions of India. Tipping can be perplexing to the tourist, but Ashish made it easier by taking a collection from the group right at the outset; this took care of a lot of incidentals that might otherwise have been a bother. He was careful to give us a full accounting of all this on the final night of the tour. We can recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see India close up -- including some standard tourist destinations as well as some not-so-standard places. It really is an adventure, and you need to have an adaptable temperament. The accommodations are all clean and comfortable, if not like an American "luxury hotel". Be prepared for at least one wild tuk-tuk ride through narrow streets, dodging traffic and cows! We lived to tell the tale!

Rating for tour operator:

Ashish seems to love his work. He knows a lot about Indian history and culture and was able to fill in a lot of interesting lore about the places we visited. He also enlisted some local guides for particular spots, like Taj Mahal. Ashish made sure we navigated city streets with no losses, and took care of hotel checkins and checkouts and luggage. On our visit, India was undergoing some turmoil over "demonetization", meaning 1000 and 500 rupee notes had to be exchanged for lower-denomination notes. This caused long lines at ATMs and banks, and some distress to some of our party. However, Ashish did his best to manage the currency exchange for those who needed it, and he helped me get to a bank for mine. This was a situation nobody had anticipated; however, our group was somewhat insulated from the inconvenience, thanks to the resourcefulness of Ashish Solanki. We learned a lot about India from Ashish's informal talks on the bus rides. His talks were both informative and entertaining. It was good, for example, to get a detailed description of Indian wedding traditions -- especially as one wedding procession went right by our bus windows. We highly recommend the Wild Frontiers India tour.

The Marigold hotel tour India

The main point of the tour was to visit the sites featured in the 'Marigold hotel' movie. As well as staying in the two hotels featured in the movie we were treated to 12 days of the most amazing sights and experiences. It far exceeded our expectations. We learned so much about history and Indian culture. We sampled food, palaces and temples and even managed to survive an unexpected banking crisis. The tour guide was exceptional. Trip of a ...

Wonderful Estancia to Estancia ride in Argentina with the gauchos

I went on a group tour with Wild Frontiers to Corientes, Argentina for an estancia to estancia ride and had the most wonderful time. It was incredibly fun riding with the gauchos. For those who wished to, you could also muck in with the daily work of the gauchos which, being a city girl, I thoroughly enjoyed. We rounded up cattle, drove horses, helped put the cows into the cow dip, clipped calves ears, dewormed them, had a go at lassoing, played polo and learnt to tango. The food in all the estancias were excellent and the wine free flowing. Our host at La Rosita estancia, Fernando, whose horses we rode around to the other estancias, is simply wonderful. He is charming, had a great sense of humour, very entertaining, thoughtful and nothing was too much for him. Definitely a trip that I would recommend.

Rating for tour operator:

Wild Frontiers had put together an excellent trip and all the logistics were smoothly taken care of. We were well looked after.
