A sensational long distance, remote trekking adventure that has been on my bucket list for a long time

Having trekked many times with other companies in the Himalayan Mountains, THE MOUNTAIN COMPANY has surprised and delighted me with its degree of excellence in all areas. To start with there was the thorough and professional planning of the trip details, including enough rest and contingency days to suit the remote conditions. It was clear early on that this was a company that understood remote mountains. Then there was the seamless execution of a very challenging trek, including the problem solving of trekker-created problems that could have derailed the expedition. There was the meticulous care for the health and safety of all the trekkers AND the local support crew. There was the exceptional quality and volume of great food provided to sustain our energy levels over an extended period of time in very remote parts of Bhutan. Also, THE MOUNTAIN COMPANY provided an experienced western leader which added massive value being the bridge between the trekkers and the local company with whom they have been working for many years. THE MOUNTAIN COMPANY sits above all the other companies in my experience. Well done!!

This is a very tough and hard walk because long duration, high altitude, rough track (muddy and rocky), continuous walks (some more than 8 hours). It is a physical and psychological challenging journey. But the view is excellent if you are lucky in good weather. Excellent operation is MUST for the completion of the whole walk.

They have good ground operation in background, the support team is excellent in co-operation with horse arrangement/movement, tent setting, kitchen, etc.

I trekked the Dhaulagiri circuit in a group of 7 led by Natalie Wilson. We had excellent weather, a very cohesive group and a wonderful local crew to look after us. The trek starts with almost subtropical scenery and a rarely trekked village, goes up through a dramatic rocky gorge with some very exposed sections, opens up with dramatic snow covered peak all around and then crosses into the arid Hidden Valley.

I have trekked in the Himalaya with several companies and The Mountain Company has been consistently the best. Attention to detail is outstanding. Everything works as planned. The Mountain Company employs western leaders to complement the local teams and this really does add value.

The quest was to set eyes upon Sagarmatha and for 11 days we trekked up the valleys to Gokyo. Wonderful, stunning scenery of the Himalayas as we climbed. Mountain names that months ago meant nothing now stood proudly before us. It was truly an incredible sight and one etched deep into the millstone grit. Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, Mera peak, Nuptse, Khang Tega, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and of course, Sagarmatha. They will remain with me forever.

The trek was 12 months in the planning and Roland and The Mountain Company were with us every step of the way. The communication was first class with no question too small. The whole operation was seamless, with transfers, pick ups, accommodation, advice, guidance and of course the Sherpa guides and porters. There is nothing but positives for The Mountain Company and I would highly recommend them to other trekkers. Should I visit this wonderful part of the world again, The Mountain Company would be my only choice. Thank you so much, Roland, the team, Dorjee and Dawa. 'Don't die wondering'

Difficult to describe the joy trekking in Nepal brings as a life experience Pictures don’t do the majesty of Nepal justice The Nepalese people are always smiling, welcoming in a way many other countries could learn from Having used the Mountain Company for each visit to Nepal I wouldn’t ever use anyone else

From our initial interest in the Mardi Himel trek the Mountain Company were able to answer all our questions with clear concise answers A company were the clients safety, pleasure and satisfaction is the ethos of Roland and all the staff

Walking into Everest base camp has been something we’ve wanted to do for many years and we couldn’t have had a better experience than the trek we took with The Mountain Company.

We have nothing but praise for The Mountain Company. We received all the information we needed before booking, and the organisation of our trip from arrival in Nepal to departure after a successful trek was superb. We benefited from the knowledge of, and passion for, the Himalayas of our guide, and it was a pleasure to spend time with him and our porter, while the advice and support of managing director Roland Hunter allowed us to make the very most of our experience.

A trekking expedition to climb to the top of Gokyo Ri, which gave us the most staggering view of the Himalayan landscape, with obviously Mt Everest dominating the skyline. The journey was punctuated with rest/acclimatisation days to allow us to adjust to the change in altitude. A system that many other trekkers didn't seem to adhere to, sometimes with consequences that meant airlift removal from the peaks. Tour very well constructed with more than adequate guide and porter.

Recommended through a mutual friend. Responsible ethics, which involve helping families of porters and guides in need. Also a policy of collecting any discarded rubbish which had been discarded en route.

A challenging trek where we crossed four x 5,000m passes and slept out in tents one night at an altitude of over 5,200m. Our guides had extensive local knowledge of the region and took us to villages not normally visited by Western Trekkers. We visited several Buddhist Monasteries and were lucky to learn so much about the local religion and culture

The Mountain Company are small enough to provide a personal service to customers that is second to none and experienced enough provide a varied number of treks in remote places. Detailed planning and experienced leaders ensure the safety of trekkers and guides alike.

I totally enjoyed my trip to K2 Base Camp. The Mountain Company with on-site support from Hunza Guides in Pakistan make sure the trip went without a hitch from booking until our return to Islamabad for the return home. Our western leader, Robert, was extremely helpful and well-liked by all the trekkers. Our Pakistani guides were also very helpful and friendly. Even the weather cooperated to have magnificent views of K2, Broad Peak, Trango Towers and neighboring peaks. I won’t hesitate to book another trip with Mountain Company in the near future.

An amazing Trek in a stunningly beautiful remote location. The isolation and scale of the Karakoram range are very humbling and make you feel very privileged to be there and really appreciative of the Universe we live in
