Lamjung Himal Trek
This was a 9 day camping trek on a pilgrimage route with continuous mountain views and a wilderness feel with no other trekking groups encountered. Fantastic support from the guiding team and miracles from the chef and kitchen crew, ably backed up by the team of porters. Great hotel stays in Kathmandu before and after the trek and 2 very welcome nights in Pokhara for hot showers and beers

Very professional set up but also very personal: excellent initial phone call to discuss suitability of treks and backed up by very comprehensive pre-trip information. All queries answered promptly. Excellent local team in Nepal

Unique and remote Himalayan journey
Trekking through the beautiful and varied terrain of Eastern Nepal, from lush rice paddies and remote villages to high passes and 2 stunning base camps. The entire crew were competent, friendly, fun and responsible, with great support from the Kathmandu-based team throughout. Shout out to the cook & cook team for amazing food and service! A long trek like this section of GHT requires flexibility, has more of an expedition feel and the length of time out on trek (35 days) meant that we were fully immersed in the experience and landscape. Views and scenery along the trails are outstanding and would highly recommend if you are lucky enough to have the time fr a trek this long.

We were very well looked after for the duration, great food, focus on safety and slick organisation despite curve balls from weather etc. TMC are very client-focussed, constantly listening and reacting to feedback and clearly well connected to local teams and communities.

Lamjung Himal trek in Nepal
A 14 night stay in Nepal, including a 9 day camping trek up to a high point of 4385m. A large team of guides, cooks and porters made the camping a first class experience

Fantastic support from the first call to Roland Hunter (owner of TMC) to the final transport to the airport. The whole trip, including nights in 4* hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, consistently exceeded my expectations of what a trekking holiday would be like.

Great experience to sample trekking in Nepal
Everything went like clockwork as per our itinerary.

Kangchenjunga to Makalu BC Great Himalayan Trail Trek
This was a long and remote trek in the Eastern part of Nepal close to the Tibetan border. We were fortunate with good weather and fantastic views at either end of the trek, but had to re-route in the middle of the trek following a period of unusually heavy rain and snow as a consequence of a late cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. We were fortunate with good weather and fantastic views at either end of the trek, but had to re-route in the middle of the trek following a period of unusually heavy rain and snow as a consequence of a late cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Our sirdar, sherpas and leader, with assistance and weather forecasts from the Mountain Company team in Kathmandu via satellite phone, were able to adapt the route to enable us to complete the trek and reach Makalu Base Camp. Our porters and kitchen crew also made a huge contribution to allowing us to complete the trek. Overall, a fantastic experience in a remote part of Nepal with a friendly and enthusiastic group of fellow trekkers and great support from our international leader, sirdar, sherpas, cook, kitchen crew and porters.

This was the third trek that I have done with the Mountain Company. Their focus exclusively on treks in the Himalaya and Karakoram along with their base in Kathmandu as well as the UK means that they bring an enormous amount of local knowledge and experience to the organisation of their treks. Their attention to detail and realistic and flexible itineraries attest to this. I would not hesitate to trek with them again or to recommend them to others.

A great trip with The Mountain Company, trekking from Naar to Upper Mustang.
The trekking route from Naar to Upper Mustang is very interesting, across a varied and remote mountain landscape. Fascinating villages and few other trekkers.

Wondeerful visit to the Upper Mustang region of Nepal
I absolutely loved visiting this magical part of Nepal! I enjoyed the quiet trails, endless views of colorful cliffs and snow capped mountains, and many visits to small villages and ancient monasteries. I had read about the road to Lo Manthang making trekking difficult in this area, but it was a non-factor since we only spent a short period on the road at the end of one day and the start of another. I had read about the road to Lo Manthang making trekking difficult in this area, but it was a non-factor since we only spent a short period on the road at the end of one day and the start of another. I am a repeat traveler - this was my third trip with this company and will not be my last! I was happy with everything from my initial consultations about the trip to how a few challenges along the way (due to trail conditions and a double booked hotel) were handled.

Manaslu Circuit & Tsum Valley - November 2025
The Manaslu Circuit with Tsum Valley is an understandably popular trek in Nepal, combining dramatic landscapes with rich cultural experiences. The Manaslu Circuit winds through deep gorges and climbs steadily to the 5,135m Larkya La pass. Along the way are views of Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest mountain. The six-day side trip into Tsum Valley is equally worthwhile, featuring beautiful monasteries and significant Buddhist sites. This ...

The six-day side trip into Tsum Valley is equally worthwhile, featuring beautiful monasteries and significant Buddhist sites. This was my first tea house trek after three camping treks with TMC, and there are pros and cons to compare. Tea houses usually provide power and WiFi (generally free), menus to choose from (though the options are the same throughout), and daily showers (usually cold). TMC cover five food choices plus seven hot drinks a day, and portions tend to be enormous — you definitely won’t go hungry. The itinerary builds in acclimatisation time, which is welcome, although around half the hiking days are relatively short, so bring something to keep you occupied in the afternoons. The local crew were excellent throughout. November proved an ideal month to trek, with clear blue skies every day — just make sure to bring warm layers for the higher sections. Be aware that word is well and truly out on both the Manaslu Circuit and the supposedly more remote Tsum Valley. Expect full tea houses, but if you start early the trails themselves are generally quiet.

This was my fourth long trek with The Mountain Company (TMC), and once again I found them very good to deal with. Their organisation and communication are consistently first-rate. The high level of care and professionalism throughout reinforced why I keep coming back to TMC for my Himalayan treks.

A well-organised trek in a wonderful part of the Himalaya.
Trekked the 'longer version' of Bhutan's famous "Lunana Snowman" trek: nearly one month of walking through incredibly beautiful scenery and remote villages.

Out trek was organised by UK-based Roland Hunter, of The Mountain Company. Roland is legendary for his superb customer service, putting the needs of his customers above commercial gain. No corners are cut in his efforts to make his treks as well-run as possible, such as allowing plenty of time for acclimatisation, and using the best local guides and staff.

Spellbinding circuit of Nanga Parbat
This was a sometimes challenging but always spectacular trek around Nanga Parbat. The route was remote, so there was a real sense of being off the beaten track, combined with visits to the various Nanga Parbat basecamps where we met with climbers preparing for attempts on the summit. Flawless organisation meant that the trekkers in our group had nothing to worry about and were able to concentrate on getting the most from the experience. The ...

Flawless organisation meant that the trekkers in our group had nothing to worry about and were able to concentrate on getting the most from the experience. The views of the mountain were spectacular from all angles and our trek took us through many villages and mountain hamlets, all of which were very welcoming. A strenuous trek - but one that I cannot recommend highly enough.

The Mountain Company offered a very personal service - it was clear that they went the extra mile to ensure that all details were covered, no matter how small. The trek was logistically complex, but nevertheless flawlessly organised so the trekkers were able to concentrate on enjoying this amazing experience.
