Exceptional, outstanding and beyond all expectations!!
The tour, leader and crew were exceptional in all respects. Every detail was attended to and every person involved in trek support, leaders, porters and cooking crew provided service and that went above and beyond. Rating for tour operator:

The tour operator and the local lead guide were brilliant. Knowledge of the local villages and culture, familiarity with the route, effective management of the crew, attention to health, comfort and safety of all were exceptional. There were a couple of medical issues that came up on the trip (one that had been missed by the individual's home health care provider and picked up by the tour leader before the trek began) and were effectively resolved due to the experience, persistence and attention to detail by the tour operator. The tour operator actively engaged with each trekker and the group as a whole which supported a positive group (and team) experience.

Discovering Bhutan
A 14 day varied trip combining visits to Paro, Thimpu, the ancient capital Punakha, Bumthang, and seeing the rare black necked cranes wintering in the remote Phobkika valley together with a 3 day camping trek over Kitiphu Ridge affording views of Mount Gangkar Punsum, the highest unclimbed mountain in the world..

Our tour operator was very helpful with plenty of information for what we needed and what to expect for the trip. Everything went smoothly. Our taxi too and from airport was booked for us and on time and our hotels were booked for us which made thing easy for us . Roland looked after our valuable gear whilst we were on our trip which was very kind and gave us peace of mind that things would be safe.

Camping in undiscovered Nepal
My husband and I have been thinking of trekking in Nepal for years but we only booked our holiday a few weeks before going and we were the only 2 participants in our trek. Our first surprise on the first day was discovering our large entourage of guides, cooks and porters just for the 2 of us. The Anapurna was never far away but far enough such that we always camped in very remote areas.

We were recommended The Mountain Company by a friend and we recommend them too. We chose them because they were one of the few companies doing a 2 weeks treks that seemed challenging enough together with walking through unvisited parts of Nepal. We have liked their personalised attention before the holiday and their support throughout the holiday whether in Kathmandu, Pokhara or during the trek was excellent. We always felt completely safe and we were very well looked after.

Fantastic Adventure
From start to finish the holiday proved a wonderful experience trekking in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Beautiful countryside, amazing scenery, stunning mountain views and trekking through small local mountain villages. From first thing in the morning when we had our early morning coffees, until last thing at night when we met up with other trekkers and enjoyed happy hour, great food and company, we loved it. They were full of information about the Himalayas and local culture and we enjoyed many laughs daily. Fully recommend the trip.

We investigated many options prior to booking. Roland Hunter and his team at The Mountain Company offered us the best options for our adventure. The company were excellent throughout, giving us full and detailed pre trip information and answered every question we had very promptly. Once we arrived in Kathmandu we were met by Jo who works directly for TMC and she set us up brilliantly for the trip. She also organised our day tours in both Kathmandu and Pokhara which are well worth doing. I would fully recommend the Mountain Company.

Laya Gasa trek in Bhutan
We hd a 2 1/2 trip that began in Kathmandu, flying into Bhutan for trekking and cultural touring. Part of our time was in local hotels (these have improved over the years and are very comfortable now). We also had 10 days camping on the Laya Gasa trek. Roland has improved the acclimatization preparation for this trek, and the worst problems we had was a mild headache one morning probably related to what we did the night before. We were able ...

Roland has improved the acclimatization preparation for this trek, and the worst problems we had was a mild headache one morning probably related to what we did the night before. We were able to climb comfortably to 5000m. The food on trek was excellent (we even had pizza once!). Tasha was our local guide who is very knowledgable, worked hard, and kept us safe. If you love the mountains, this is an amazing trek!
Rating for tour operator:

Roland Hunter is a thorough, detailed organizer who loves the mountains, and wants his clients to have safe, enjoyable and memorable trips (and perhaps even come back again!). My trek this year was my fourth one with the Mountain Company, and I have been fortunate that Roland actually led two of my trips. In addition to continually improving the treks following feedback from his clients, he is also concerned with the wellbeing of the local people who work for him. On my trek this year, Roland met with us for over an hour in Kathmandu before and after our trek to exchange information and get feedback. In addition to working to help local projects, Roland took it upon himself to to arrange for emergency delivery of supplies to some remote villages devastated after the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Roland and his team at the Mountain Company truly are excellent at what they do, and not only do I highly recommend them, but I am looking to go back again...

Ladakh Sky Trail
This was a trekking holiday in the Indian Himalaya visiting three of the main trekking areas of Ladakh, each with its own unique character and with only a short portage portion by van between the 2nd and 3rd area ie mostly trekking. We crossed 5 passes of around 5000m elevation and the scenery in each area was spectacular. The crew were extremely experienced and professional with the guide having trekked in the area for 30 years. Highly recommended...

The Mountain Company has run this trek for over nine years and their experience showed in the level of knowledge about the area, the equipment provided was above standard and the meals some of the best I have had in 24 treks in the Himalayas over 30 years of trekking.

Awesome Snowman Trek
I took part in the 33-day Snowman Trek in Bhutan w a group through the Mountain Company. it was amazing experience: the food was excellent, the local crew was amazing, not to mention the awesome nature and sceneys. Bhutan is an incredible country w deep Buddhist culture, would not hesitate to do it all over again.

TMC gave us very detailed and organized info before hand to help prepare and train for the trip, and during the trek has very experienced TMC as well as local guides to help us trek through high altitude terrain with extended camping (28 days) w/o complications. The local crew was simply superb, food wonderful - the food on the trek and the fun and caring local staff really separated TMC from other operators!

Spectacular Snow Lake trek in Pakistan Karakorum
The Snow Lake is one of the most amazing mountain journeys in the world. The route begins at Askole (Baltistan), together with the better known Baltoro-Gondogoro-K2 base camp trek, but it soon forks off, turning west and enters glacial wilderness. The route goes gradually up the Biafo glacier, then climbs more steeply to Hispar La (mountain pass at c.a. 5100 m) and then goes down along the Hispar glacier toward Hispar village in the Hunza region...

The route goes gradually up the Biafo glacier, then climbs more steeply to Hispar La (mountain pass at c.a. 5100 m) and then goes down along the Hispar glacier toward Hispar village in the Hunza region. Crossing Hispar La is never guaranteed and there are years when this is not possible because of huge crevasses blocking the way. We were lucky to have good weather and snow conditions and we managed to complete this spectracular trek.
Rating for tour operator:

TMC guides are certainly experienced and very well prepared to handle even the most challenging trekking conditions. The Snow Lake trek has an exploratory character as the route is not simply marked on the glacier and so even finding the way is a challenge. There are decisions to be made about the camping places and details of the itinerary as these may need to be adjusted on a daily basis. As this trek follows two glaciers, safety of both the trekking members and the crew is of utmost importance. Taking care of all these elements requires constant attention and effort on the part of the trekking leader. Our TMC leader (Jo) did her job perfectly.
