Outstanding first safari experience

This was our first ever trip to Africa and of course the first safari. Taking part in a safari has been a desire for a long time and we were extremely happy that we finally took the plunge. We spent 3 nights each at two camps in Ol Pejeta conservancy known for its Rhino population and the Masai Mara for the cats and wilderbeest. The choice of camps turned out to be amazing. Both camps (in Kicheche Laikipia in Ol Pejeta and Rekero Camp in the Masai Mara) were exceptional properties that gave us a very close and personal experience with the wild-life. The guides at the camps were very experienced and skilled at finding the animals and giving us the best viewing while respecting and allowing the animals the space they need. At both camps the lodgings were exceptionally good and spacious while offering adequate privacy and space from other guests. Your safety is always a concern when you are in the middle of the wilderness with all the animals around. However at no point did we feel that we were in any danger. At both camps masai guards kept watch and escorted guests from and to their lodgings especially after dusk and early morning. The camps looked after every need, provided amazing food considering where we were, were excellent company during the meals and social activities and made the whole experience feel very special. For first-timers we were very lucky that we saw the big-five and more. We saw lots of lions and cheetah and of course Rhino in the Ol Pejeta. Every safari drive was very satisfying and we came back with big smiles on our faces to be greeted by even bigger smiles back at the camp from the camp staff. If you have been wishing and waiting to do a safari, you cannot go past these two camps and should just book and go. We travelled in mid-October which was excellent timing as the rains hadn't come yet and the big crowds were gone. We also saw the tail end of the wildebeest migration and were surprised to still find a couple of hundred thousand of the animals still in the Mara at that time.

Safari consultants helped us organise our first ever safari experience and trip to Africa. We had narrowed down Kenya as the preferred travel destination and Julia helped us develop an itinerary for a 10-day safari and beach trip. Based on a number of questions about our preferences and interests we received a reasonable number of choices and recommendations for the safari camps for our consideration. Once selected everything was locked in quickly. Throughout we received a very professional service. All internal transfer and flights were also organised by them and went smoothly as well. I would highly recommend using the services of Safari Consultants to arrange your next safari.

Wildlife, Winelands & Whales

Quite stupendous - a wonderful experience from start to finish. We embarked upon our first South African Safari trip (a private camp in Timbvati) followed by an excursion to Cape Town, then on to Hermanus, eventually spending three days or so in the Franschhoek area. 13 nights in total. We saw everything we wanted to-including all the wonderful wildlife, the key attractions, the main cities & towns as well as the beautiful countryside and vineyards. What with the internal connection flights as well as the independence of self drive across the country over our four destinations the sheer variety and breadth made the holiday a special, unique as well as extraordinary experience. We loved every minute.

They were extraordinary. Their knowledge of what we should see was brilliant. Their choice of luxurious accommodation superb. Their attention to the finest & last details of our whole trip was exemplary; a totally comprehensive, expert, personal & tailored, friendly, enthusiastic & positive service from start to finish. Everything was organised perfectly for us - and all plans went like clockwork. We were so delighted and pleased I have become somewhat evangelical about them - certainly persuading no one to embark on a Safari to Africa without talking first with Safari Consultants!

Ruaha and Selous: unspoilt wilderness in Southern Tanzania.

A National Park and a Game Reserve of outstanding natural beauty, away from the normal tourist routes and largely unspoilt wilderness. Siwandu and Jongomero two excellent camps: outstanding service, very comfortable tents with full facilities, good food, excellent guiding, some good varied game viewing if a little quiet at times. An excellent safari.

chaotic airport at Tana ; a most unpleasant experience. I will not go back to Madagascar partly because of this.

very difficult country to travel around as one needs to return to capital Tana to travel to a new area. Hotels/Lodges generally less good than similar in African countries such as Tanzania, Namibia, Kenya ,Uganda and South Africa Tana airport is really dreadful.

Two week tour of Namibia

My wife and I spent just over 2 weeks touring round Namibia in a rented Renault Duster. The holiday was varied taking in the Namib Desert, the Skeleton Coast and Etosha National Park. The country is arid and spectacular, roads a mixture of tarmac and gravel which need to be treated with caution. The holiday was one of ...

We arranged the holiday via our local agent, Jacquie Cole at Bakewell Travel, and selected Safari Consultants. We are grateful to Mary Grimwood at Safari Consultants for her expertise in putting together a fabulous itinerary. The accommodation was excellent and the places chosen to visit spectacular with clear directions between each location. This is not the first time we have used Safari Consultants and hopefully not the last.

Fantastic

We never thought that we could better our previous trip to the Masai Mara but this one certainly did. Superb photo opportunities and nothing too much trouble for our hosts at Kicheche.

Namibia is Amazing

Self drive around central Namibia and guided camping into Damaraland. Wonderful varied scenery and wildlife in this vast country. The people are so friendly with so many interesting stories. Walking to see Rhino and tracking to Cheetahs were amazing highlights.
