Old Salt Route in Italy from the Po Valley to the Ligurian coast

My son and I took a week's stroll through a part of Italy that we had traversed by train almost 30 years ago. On Foot is super responsive, I had done their Slovenia hike a couple of years ago, and was looking for a shorter hike that would accommodate my son, who lives and works in Italy. On Foot tailored the walk to meet our requirements and provided plenty of backup so that we could be picked up when caught up on the top of a mountain in a violent thunderstorm. First class.

World Class walking holiday on the picturesque Amalfi Coast

My wife & I spent a week walking the Amalfi Coast in October organized by On Foot Holidays. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The walk started in Amalfi and we also had overnight stays in Praiano, Positano, Sant Agata and ending in Sorrento. The overnight stays were mostly down on the Mediterranean coast which meant some steep climbs to reach the top of the cliffs rising from the sea. The walk was strenuous but the views ...

The walk started in Amalfi and we also had overnight stays in Praiano, Positano, Sant Agata and ending in Sorrento. The overnight stays were mostly down on the Mediterranean coast which meant some steep climbs to reach the top of the cliffs rising from the sea. The walk was strenuous but the views were some of the best in the world. The overnight stays were in small locally owned hotels or B & B's. All were good with a couple in the excellent category. The weather was superb for October and the temperature just right for a strenuous walking holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

It was obvious On Foot Holidays was intimately knowledgable with walking vacations on the Amalfi Coast and were able to guide / advise us with all the planning details. I do not think we would have been able to complete the walk without the detailed route notes prepared by On Foot Holidays. They went as far as supplying us with the local bus timetables just in case we had to use them! Now that is foresight and excellent service. The luggage transfer system from ones overnight stay to the next was excellent. All the overnight accommodations were as booked and of a good standard. Without hesitation, I would recommend using On Foot Holidays to anyone planning to do a walking tour.

Mountain Hiking

We enjoyed the strenuous long hikes through beautiful mountainous country, returning each evening to very comfortable accommodation and good food (and wine). The visit to the Aiguille du Midi was magnificent and the final day's walk along an alpine route, with snow, was truly memorable. Excellent route notes were provided, and all transport and luggage transfers were well coordinated. We really enjoyed this holiday.

Amalfi Sept 2013 trip

This is our first experience with On Foot Holidays on Tour and we're pleased withh the service and support we received from the professional staff. We can't asked for more. The Bed and Breakfast we stayed along the Amalfi Coast were exceptional and the restuarants recommended were a gourmet delight. We will not hesitate to book another tour with them next year.

Slovenia was a most interesting region to visit

We had a marvelous nine day walking trip organized by Onfoot Holidays. Most interesting countryside and places to stay. We especially enjoyed the agritourist hotels where hospitality was outstanding.

On Foot Holidays provided the route notes, maps and other essential information, and arranged the accommodation and luggage transfer at each stage. The accommodation was all in good quality hotels. The food was also excellent. The level of challenge met their description of moderate-hard accurately in terms of both walking distance and climbing. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. The locally based contact phoned us on the second evening to introduce herself and check whether we had any problems. The route was clearly meticulously planned and the current state of paths, etc, closely monitored, which is especially important in the Alps where conditions can change rapidly. The notes and maps were clear, accurate and easy to follow.

Rating for tour operator:

The staff could not be more helpful when we deal with them from the earliest stages of planning through the various stages of booking. They always take a close personal interest and deal with any matter promptly and efficiently.

A first-rate, well organised long distance walk from north of the Appenines to the Ligurian coast at Camogli.

There were six days of moderate to vigorous self-guided walking, including some substantial climbs, starting in Lombardy and passing through part of Piedmont, finishing in Liguria. We were provided with excellent and clear route notes and maps plus other equipment such as a good quality map case. The accommodation was arranged for us as was the transfer of our luggage from place to place. The route was well planned by people who were up-to-date ...

We were provided with excellent and clear route notes and maps plus other equipment such as a good quality map case. The accommodation was arranged for us as was the transfer of our luggage from place to place. The route was well planned by people who were up-to-date with the current state of conditions along the route. There was a local contact, contactable by phone, who was available to give advice and assistance should we have required it. The accommodation had all been vetted and was good, very good or excellent both in quality and in terms of value for money, likewise the food. The accommodation was interestingly varied - two hotels, two private houses, one village inn, 1 agritourismo.

Rating for tour operator:

The staff are friendly, efficient and very helpful when planning a holiday as they know the routes from first-hand experience. Many of them have walked the routes themselves. Should I phone and speak first to someone who does not have such detailed knowledge I am always passed straight to someone who does. I have full confidence in them to furnish me accurately with the information I need.

Frendly, efficient and tailor made

A self guided walking holiday along part of the Lycian Way. A lovely trail through pine woods with beautiful veiws of the coast. The accomodation was excellent and the bags were moved on to the next destination leaving us with a day sac to carry. There was no problems but felt that the lady running the office in Antalya would help as she contacted us on the first day to make sure all was ok. We were able to book extra nights at different hotels ...
