Castles of the Rhine by Susan, 29 May 2025
Holiday Rating:

The Castles of the Rhine gave us added insight to a beautiful area of Germany.

We really enjoyed seeing the Rhine area from high above in addition to seeing it from the river level. Staying in multiple castles and seeing other castles was a real treat. Seeing the high areas where there were wonderful meadows and glorious woods in addition to beautiful fields of grains waving in the breeze-all above the Rhine River was such a visual spectacle. This was our 6th walk with On Foot Holidays and they are like family to us. The company provides so much more than the other four walking companies we have dealt with. The ferry and train schedules were often used. The shortening options were a great touch. The background and historical information gave insight into the many sights we saw. The restaurant suggestions were appreciated but we also liked the details regarding the trails themselves and what pleasantries or obstacles might be experienced. On Foot makes for a perfect experience in our minds. We continue to recommend On Foot to others.

Bohemian Paradise by Susan, 29 May 2025
Holiday Rating:

The Bohemian Paradise walk took us to a remote area of Czechia that many never go to and it was beautiful.

The Bohemian Paradise walk was exceptional in both cultural exposure in the quaint Czech towns and the many Czech travelers and also the scenic beauty with hundreds of tall sandstone monolith formations, ancient castles, many wooded areas with evergreen trees and beautiful flower filled meadows. It was a fairytale come true and we loved it all. The Bohemian Paradise museum gave us insight into why the area has been historically important with ...

It was a fairytale come true and we loved it all. The Bohemian Paradise museum gave us insight into why the area has been historically important with the many gemstones found there.

Questions from the tour operator were answered immediately and thoroughly. Luggage was transferred smoothly. Background information provided historical context and provided insight into the sights seen. The App worked well but we also appreciated the many hardcopy maps provided. Information on Prague and a map of Prague were given even though it wasn't part of the walk. Many of us also took the city in. The places we stayed were excellent and included staying in a castle. Everything was personalized to and for us which was both useful and appreciated. The attention that On Foot paid to clients has been impressive.

Ligurian Hills by Dr John, 28 May 2025

Lovely Liguria.

A great six day walk across the Apennines from the Po valley to the Ligurian Riviera. Notable for the high, historic paths; the quality of the stopovers - welcome, accommodation, wonderful local food and wine; the wildlife, and the peacefulness. And after several long days on the trot, the luxuries of Camogli, a lovely Riviera town.

Fabulous walking holiday through rural North West Italy (Lombardy/Liguria)

This was our second holiday with On Foot Holidays, and once again, their local knowledge ensured that we had a perfect experience of a beautiful and unspoiled region of Italy. The hosts at each of our stopover destinations were incredibly helpful and the food was outstanding. A perfect way to refuel after a day's walking in the hills.

Stunning walk in Southern Italy

Four of us spent six days walking along the coast and in the woodlands and hills of the Cilento National Park. The routes were sufficiently challenging and without exception, quite beautiful. In May, the wild flowers are at their best and we were accompanied by birds, butterflies and so many little green lizards we lost count. We have walked a few times in Italy but this was by far the most unspoilt. We passed through some enchanting villages ...

In May, the wild flowers are at their best and we were accompanied by birds, butterflies and so many little green lizards we lost count. We have walked a few times in Italy but this was by far the most unspoilt. We passed through some enchanting villages but apart from at our accommodation, we met hardly anyone. We stayed in a great variety of accommodation from an old convent in the hills to a couple of quite amazing hotels by the sea.

We have now used On Foot several times to organise our walking holidays around Europe. Every time they prove to be efficient and helpful when sorting out our needs. However, the best thing about working with them is that every member of the team is so friendly and genuinely cares that we have the most enjoyable holiday possible. The routes they offer have been walked by members of the team so they can give first hand information and advice. We are already discussing our trip for 2026!

Southern Tuscany by Susan, 26 May 2025

Tuscany is a fantastic place for walking!

The Tuscany countryside come to life is just like the paintings we've seen only much better, of course. The background information provided by On Foot Holidays certainly enhanced our experience. Our luggage was transferred smoothly. The places we stayed were wonderful! The background information provided by On Foot Holidays certainly enhanced our experience. Our luggage was transferred smoothly. The places we stayed were wonderful! The towns we went to each had something unique to offer and all were charming. Our walks not only took us into the beautiful, classic Tuscan countryside but sometimes we were in woods too. We went to abbeys, cathedrals and small chapels. It was all very diverse and interesting.

Rating for tour operator:

They personalize every individual trip and become like family. I have had contact with a number of staff and they all immediately address any questions/concerns I may have in addition to being friendly yet professional. The information provided is very comprehensive and we like the App along with the numerous hardcopy maps. I have referred many others to this company encouraging others to enjoy the benefits of walking holidays.

A life time of memories

We enjoyed every minute of this holiday. The walking was challenging enough to feel a sense of accomplishment and the views each day made the climbs worth it. The accommodations were fabulous and the food outstanding.

The Surprising Lake Maggiore area.

We had never been to the Italian Lake district and found it to be a breathtaking experience. It was fun taking the ferry around. The walks took us to islands and neighboring woods and meadows. The islands of Lake Maggiore offered so much in the way of sumptuous palaces, beautiful gardens and quaint towns. Everywhere we looked there were flowers blooming. Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays continues to be my favorite walking tour company and we've done 16 distance walks now and used 5 companies but On Foot hands down is the best we've experienced. The personalized nature of the materials and staff is a big draw. We like that there is a local contact should we need one. The materials provided are always comprehensive and of high quality. Our luggage transfers are done without a hitch. The places we stay are excellent.

We found that the companion app provided an excellent resource and made navigation easy. The information provided in the app about the local area enabled us to make the most of our holiday! To go in May was wonderful - the wild flowers were some of the best we’ve ever seen, the birds were in great song and we saw many varieties of butterflies. The walk worked well with a good mix of longer and shorter days. Our favourite day was the climb and descent from Monte Stella. We had great weather and the walking was through beautiful woodland for most of the day.

Rating for tour operator:

The Onfoot team are fabulous. Not only when planning the holiday but also when we’re there. They are very good at putting a walk together that is meaningful, beautiful and peaceful and equally good at finding interesting, quirky and sometimes remote places to stay. They are obviously well respected by the host accommodation and more often than not have met them personally. This means that we are always made to feel very welcome and this is important at the end of a long day of walking. We can honestly say that our Onfoot holidays are the most relaxing holidays that we have mainly because of the confidence we have in their ability to deliver exceptional experiences!! ( based on 10 holidays in several different countries!)

A beautiful walk in Dorset

This was a once in a decade trip for us (me and my sister). We travelled from Canada to the UK to walk from Cerne Abbas to Lyme Regis, and had a fantastic time. The vistas, the people, and the accommodations were just fantastic. The walks were challenging, but we felt so accomplished each evening. We went to bed excited for what the next day would bring.
