Yorkshire dales …solo walking, fantastic experience

This was my first walking holiday., and I was travelling alone and intending a solo walk. On Foot Holidays was a great choice for me. Umbria with On Foot by LKCoulter, 22 Jun 2025

Unspoiled Italy

We had a wonderful time in Umbria, a part of Italy that felt uncrowded and natural - hard to find these days. We walked through hills, towns, olive groves and grapevines that reminded us of Tuscany and explored an old deserted village with stories still to tell. We stopped for lunch beside shady overgrown creeks and gentle waterfalls. Our hosts were friendly and served up outstanding meals. We had a rest day and took a cooking class overseen ...

We walked through hills, towns, olive groves and grapevines that reminded us of Tuscany and explored an old deserted village with stories still to tell. We stopped for lunch beside shady overgrown creeks and gentle waterfalls. Our hosts were friendly and served up outstanding meals. We had a rest day and took a cooking class overseen by a real-life no-nonsense Italian Nonna, We saw an old abbey in a lively town where we stopped to have a spritz. We climbed an overgrown hill and explored the crumbling, deserted ruins of yet another abbey with far off views of Rome. In all ,a lovely walking holiday.

This is the 8th Walking Holiday we've taking with On Foot Holidays and we've always had excellent trips, communication and accommodations. Their routes are well and thoughtfully designed with options to shorten or lengthen as desired. Love the flexibility and sensitivity toward their clients. Our only problem is that we can't decide which Walk to do NEXT.

Vikos Gorge by KC, 22 Jun 2025

Fantastic - couldn't recommend it more!

We went on the Vikos Gorge trip over 5 days. Northern Greece is absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad we got to see it. The guest houses were fantastic and the hosts were so welcoming. The hikes were amazing and clearly marked throughout the journey. We had a great time and can't wait to choose our next walking trip.

Ligurian Hills by Robbie, 22 Jun 2025

An excellent walking experience!

Walking through the Ligurian Hills to the coast was a fabulous experience. Beautiful weather, changing landscapes, varied vegetation and a range of walking conditions all contributed to a trek that was interesting, frequently spectacular and challenging enough to give us a real sense of achievement. What a beautiful landscape! Accommodation was comfortable, hosts welcoming, food excellent and plentiful.

Lake Maggiore - walking

a 4 day walking holiday between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta in Italy. Our hotels were pre-booked and our luggage moved seamlessly between them and was waiting for us at each new stop. We had a local contact who was happy to help with any issues and was able to inform us with any issues on the route.

From my first contact with On Foot they were helpful, polite and encouraging. They were happy to answer any questions and happy to go the extra mile if any problems came up either on our part or with the walking/hotels

Lycia: Mountain and Sea by Katie and Scott, 19 Jun 2025

A wonderful adventure 😍

Such a wonderful way to experience Turkey. Each day was an adventure, seeing new stunning scenery, and hiking a new trail. The best of both worlds, the hike started in the hills and ended by the sea. The hills of Turkey are big and bold with a climb to match. The hills of Turkey are big and bold with a climb to match. We loved getting to know Mount Olympus personally, first by viewing her, then by climbing her, getting amongst her flora and fauna then slowly seeing her in the distance as we moved towards the sea. Reaching the sea felt like a gift, plunging ourselves into what I can say is the clearest bluest water I have seen. What really tops off the entire experience is meeting the hosts at each destination. Particularly in the hills we felt welcomed in like we were old friends. This is our second On Foot Holiday and it was as incredible as our first and I look forward to hiking a third somewhere in the world with On Foot Holidays. I really want to thank the On Foot team for organizing a wonderful walking holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays made organizing a walking holiday easy. They were were always responsive, friendly and incredibly helpful. We wanted to add an extra day so we could tour to Pamukkale and On Foot organized everything. This is our second adventure holiday with On Foot and part of the reason it was a no brainer to book a tour with them the second time round and I certainly would book a third trip with them.

Green Greece

We'd long been curious about the Peloponnese in Greece but had no idea it would have such beautiful forests and lush green meadows. The Menalon trail is a great way to enjoy this varied countryside and all the flora and fauna that go with it. Plus there are a couple of fascinating monasteries you can visit en route. Walking from village to village, we stayed in small guest houses, all offering delicious breakfast to set you up for a day of hiking ...

We met a handful of other walkers and it was good to swap notes or have a cool drink together. A wonderfully refreshing holiday.

On Foot planned and arranged our trip with great attention to detail and keeping us informed at every step. It felt like a very personal service. The app they offer to support the hike was extremely helpful with route guidance and background information..

Italian Lakes. Maggiore & Orta

Very pleasant easy point to point walking from Lake Maggiore to Lake Orta. Although the walks were not particularly long we found plenty to interest us in thw way of buildings, history, flowers and birds as well as the lakes themselves. We were glad we added a day at the start to give us an oppor6 to use the local ferries to get to the garden islands and across the lakes. We liked our hotels, all different in character but all felt friendly ...

Discovering a historical landscape

A hike through ancient sweet-chestnut woodlands full of birdsong, vineyards, abandoned villages and monasteries, donkey-tracks, wildflowers and butterflies. We stayed in places ranging from village guesthouses to paradors and met people ranging from a shepherd to a winemaker. A wonderful experience all round.

A perfect mix of adventure, exercise, relaxation, culture and local food.

We walked as a couple in the unspoiled countryside of Cilento, at times by the coast and other times inland following the detailed instructions on the App provided. The scenery was superb and the walks were interesting. The level of difficulty was as described by On Foot so there were no unexpected challenges! The scenery was superb and the walks were interesting. The level of difficulty was as described by On Foot so there were no unexpected challenges! The hotels were thoughtfully chosen to be comfortable and welcoming, and to give a flavour of the "real" Cilento. Our luggage was moved between hotels for us. At the suggestion of On Foot we took the opportunity to visit the Greek and Roman temples at Paestum at the end of our walking holiday, and also added on a couple of nights in Naples allowing us to visit the archaeological site at Herculaneum.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot organised the route, accommodation and transfers and we felt confident in their hands. (We organised travel to the start of the walk ourselves, with useful guidance from On Foot). The information was all provided on an easy to use App, which included route notes and maps, GPS tracking (so we couldn't get lost!), travel information, suggestions about where to eat out as well as a host of other useful information about the area and points of interest. We knew that we also had local back up by phone if any problems should arise (which they did not!). We would highly recommend On Foot as a tour operator, who always go the extra mile to make sure their customers get the experience they were hoping for. We have not been disappointed in the 15 years we have been walking with On Foot.
