The Southern Cotswolds by Bernie, 7 Jun 2026

Walking the Southern Cotswolds

We throughly enjoyed our hike through the Cotswolds. The scenery was breathtaking and the accommodations were fantastic. The new app that Onfoot has for their hiking routes was easy to use and very informative. Our local contact, Nicki went upon and beyond for us. She would check-in with us on a regular basis. Would I do another walking tour with Onfoot? You bet. I have already started looking at their other routes for a future trip.

Onfoot was always quick to response to any questions we had about the trip. We would get a response within a day from them. They are very organized and hire some great guides.

Fabulous scenery, great walking route, wonderful hosts.

We walked from the mountains to the sea. The route was well planned, the app gave us lots of interesting information about the villages, monuments, flowers and trees that we saw. The accommodation was well chosen, with charming and helpful hosts. The walking was fairly hard with some steep climbs so we were glad not to be carrying heavy rucksacks. On Foot Holidays were very impressive, everyone we spoke to knew about our route, were always friendly and patient. The details were thought through, accommodation and food well planned. The app was excellent and we appreciated the final “good luck“ email and the availability of a local contact.

Vikos Gorge Holiday: This holiday was the clear highlight of our Greece holidays. The walking was excellent. At the guesthouse in Kapesovo with had our two best dinners of our whole holiday, thank you Joanna! In Monodendri we enjoyed the local Dionysos restaurant and Papingo is beautiful with good eating options. And note the Hotel Saxonis can arrange a 4x4 transfer to the Refuge, allowing the walk to Dragon Lake and return to Papingo to become a comfortable day’s walk. We will be recommending to our friends to visit the Vikos Gorge. My sister-in-law who travelled around Greece last year has already booked to return to Greece this year, just to visit the Vikos Gorge.

The service and support of the On Foot team, including their expert on the ground contacts was exceptional. Their App for all the walks made the walking so much easier.

Absolutely fabulous

It was great from start to finish. Seamless in everyday. My sister and I can't quite believe what a great time we had. We walked every day in the Marina Alta area and hardly saw a soul. Amazing views, delicious food, what more could we want.

A very well organised self-guided walking holiday passing through some lovely small villages between Ljubljana and Trieste. Well chosen accommodation, superb route guidance via a dedicated app and very well selected trails. With the wealth of information available on-line these days it is often possible for more experienced hikers to plan their own routes and accommodation so it's important for a tour operator to add value over what could otherwise be achieved independently. In this case I can honestly say On Foot Holidays did indeed add value as there was no way we'd have been able to do the level of detailed route planning or select a similar type and standard of accommodation ourselves without the degree of local knowledge the company offered. The whole experience was hassle-free. All we had to do was walk!

Rating for tour operator:

We chose On Foot Holidays because they offered a small range of well-selected self-guided tours in places a little more "off the beaten track" and they responded to our web enquiry immediately, keeping up a good level of communication through the booking process. Available reviews were also positive. From start to finish On Foot provided just the right level of support and in particular the App for navigation with it's detailed additional information about the points of interest and places to eat was really useful.

Freedom with back up!

Our holiday walking at our own pace in the Alpes Maritime, was done with the comfort that everything was organised for us to the nth degree. We had an App and printed walking materials, a local guide at the end of the phone, our luggage moved on to excellent accommodation. The company, On Foot Holidays, have excellent communication practices and ensured we were aware of anything essential.

Rating for tour operator:

We have used On Foot Holidays a few times and the thing they have above other holiday operators of a similar nature is their communication is definitely top. They ensure that you are aware of anything that might cross your mind and react very quickly to any questions/queries you might have. During Covid they were excellent in dealing with our cancelled holiday and could not be faulted on their procedures.

Northern Portugal with On Foot by Sal P, 2 Jun 2026
Holiday Rating:

A journey of discovery through the Peneda-Gerês National Park in northern Portugal. Dramatic hill sides and valleys frame the country side as you walk along the ancient paths trodden by Roman soldiers.

This trip more than delivered on expectations. An undiscovered area of Northern Portugal that feels truly authentic. Fabulous scenery walking through forests and valleys, with far reaching views across the country side. Some outstanding accommodation and just lovely people looking after us all the way. The Roman road on the route to Campo Geres was a real highlight. Our group of eight voted it our best On Foot trip so far.

As always On Foot delivered and more on our expectations. Great in house attention to meet all the varied needs of our group of 8 and a delightful group of helpers in Portugal who looked after us on the ground.
