Marvellously fascinating and great fun

Walking through forests, open countryside and quite often in solitude. This experience was just what we needed. Time to look. Time to experience. Time to listen to eachother. Time to stand and see nature. We loved the countryside. .so beautiful. Following the excellent maps and instructions we were orienteering. ..great fun. Czech people were absolutely delightful. Time to stand and see nature. We loved the countryside. .so beautiful. Following the excellent maps and instructions we were orienteering. ..great fun. Czech people were absolutely delightful. The food delicious. The beer slid down our throats. We saw wildlife up close ....deer, wild sheep; kingfishers and more. Each village or town brought history and culture with tasty food and more excellent Czech beer. We were tired on some days but delighted with what we had seen and experienced. On foot holidays prepared us well. They advised us. They are knowledgeable. Holiday packs were spot on. We had a fabulous time. I cried on the last day....why oh why does this experience have to end? We will walk again.

We liked their attitude and their attention to us as s customer. 5*

On Foot holidays based in Salisbury. They do self guided walks all over Europe. All maps, guide notes and in most cases GPX files are provided. Baggage is carried for you from hotel to hotel so all you need is a day pack. This is the 3rd holiday I have been on with On foot and all have been excellent.

Wonderful week walking off the beaten track in Northern Portugal

Remote walking between sleepy villages in Northern Portugal - wild horses, wild swimming, good wine and characterful local accommodation.

Scenery, hospitality, well-being

Eight days along the Lycian coast, on the 'medium-hard' route. Beautiful! A variety of lodgings and meals along the way - all good. On the limit for heat-plus-exertion, so we alternated days: challenging trek then well-earned flop.

Our second time with On Foot. They were attentive and creative in the runup, 'tailoring' the intinerary to our needs and tastes. The support material - maps and marching instructions - was first class. The varied overnights - hotels and bungalows - were great, and the hosts well tuned-in to the On Foot ethos. On our return, On Foot absorbed our little 'improvement' suggestions very well; efficient, truly enthusiastic about the experience they sell, personally very friendly.

We have taken 12 holidays with On Foot Holidays,so we obviously like what they offer. It is a small company,so you get a very personal service and the staff have walked the routes themselves so can advise you from their own experience.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.

Absolutely first-class from start to finish

We've been on self-guided walking holidays with several operators over the last decade but the experience of On Foot Holiday's trips is streets ahead of the others we've gone with. There was a supremely well-judged range and level of support before and during the trip. The walking routes itself well-designed and structured - taking place in a part of Italy (the Oltrepo Pavese into the Ligurian Hills) that is considered off-the beaten track, the notes you receive and the guidance ensure that you can't stray off the track they have chosen. Best of all is the accomodation. Some of it was more simple than others, thoroughly understandable given the relative remoteness of some of the stops, but it was unified by great local food and hosts who all had a clear and demonstrable passion for the area they live in. By the end of the route, it was a passion that we shared.

Rating for tour operator:

Second self-guided walking holiday with On Foot. Usually, we select an area we want to discover and then try to find a company that offers a walk there. On Foot are so good that we will now see where they offers walks and then choose from those - they are that good. Superb range of information and support to ensure that you choose the right walk, are informed about where you are going and what you will need. A clear of loving which shines through and personal experience of the walks. First class.

Lycia: Mountain and Sea by JandJ, 25 Aug 2015

A nice blend of nature and culture

This was no stroll in the park. The walking was quite tough, especially as it got rather hot, although it was only the first half of May. But the views were spectacular, the food delicious and the people very friendly and hospitable. The type of accommodation varied - from a luxurious hotel to a log cabin - but each overnight stop had its own charm.

This was our third walk with On Foot Holidays and we intend to come back for more! Their people were unfailingly friendly and helpful and everything was efficiently organised: taxi transfers and luggage transport were faultless, background information and tips on restaurants, for example, were useful and the route description was (for the most part) accurate.
