Wonderful walking from Amalfi to Sorrento
Our holiday was superb. The views along the coast were sublime and the weather was very kind to us. We were very pleased with the places we visited, the hotels at which we stayed and the smooth luggage transfers. Amalfi and Sorrento were highlights though, in saying that, we loved Ravello, Praiano, Positano and Sant'Agata!

On Foot Holidays organised a fantastic holiday that went extremely smoothly. We couldn't have asked for more-wonderful self-guiding notes and exceptional backup.

A great walking holiday with excellent support.
Our walk along The Lycian Way (From the mountain to the lighthouse)offered stunning views which exceeded our expectations. There was interest at every turn with mountains, coast, pomegranate and orange orchards, ancient ruins, as well as the flames at Chimaera. The accommodation provided variety of both style and situation, and the food everywhere was fantastic. We also felt secure in the knowledge that there was a local contact if we encountered ...

We had a marvellous time and were most impressed by the ease with which it all went.

Having never been on a self-guided walking holiday before we were impressed from the start with the service we received from On Foot Holidays. Every request or query was answered speedily and we were able to add extra nights to the itinerary wherever it suited. The instructions they provided for the walking routes were comprehensive and easy to follow. We will definitely use On Foot again.

Relaxed and spectacular walking holiday in Northern Provence
We spent a week walking through the stunning scenery of Northern Provence, staying in quaint hotels in hilltop villages, enjoying the wonderful food and wine of the region, walking on to the next night's destination guided by the excellent, detailed and accurate notes provided by On Foot Holidays, knowing our luggage would be transported and awaiting us on arrival. On Foot Holidays is a small operator with the personal touch. They phoned on the day before our departure to wish us a happy holiday. Their local representative texted to welcome us to France and establish himself as our contact for any eventuality. Everything ran like clockwork. Customer service is clearly their absolute top priority.

More difficult than understood in advance
Loved the Dorset scenery, villages, etc. All beautiful. However the weather had been damp early, so the cow paddocks were extremely difficult to walk in. Some of the hills (eg Dorset Cap) were extremely difficult to climb in the mud. The climb along the supposed "carriage track" into Shaftesbury on the first day was so hard, since the track has been washed away! Several tracks were very overgrown. Some of the hills (eg Dorset Cap) were extremely difficult to climb in the mud. The climb along the supposed "carriage track" into Shaftesbury on the first day was so hard, since the track has been washed away! Several tracks were very overgrown. We wonder if the organisers have reviewed the tracks, signposts, etc, in recent times! We had difficulty following some of the instructions. On several occasions, we had to double back once we realised we were "lost". This added distance and time to the walk. On day 5, we started at Mapperton, tried to follow directions, then after an hour, found ourselves walking back into Mapperton! We were advised by the taxi drivers that most people do NOT walk the whole distance of the tour each day, instead they take the shorter options, for the same reasons we did. The last day, coastal route to Lyme Regis, is virtually impossible for people like us. Our young fit daughter walked with us on 1 day, from Cerne Abbas to Evershot, and even she found it difficult in the conditions.

Friendly when we met them before the walk. Didn't explain the difficulties nearly enough.
Hi - you had rotten weather and that didn't help. We re-walk all our walks each year to check path condition and the quality of the directions, so that shouldn't have been the reason - in fact our Harriet walked the whole route this spring. The route is rated easy-medium, and maybe this is a little light. We will review this (together will all our routes) in the coming months in time for next year's offering. For now, we are sorry it didn't work for you, and will elarn from this.
We will look at the grading of this walk for next year and are very sorry that you felt wrongly advised. The general reaction to the walk has been very positive, but we accept that it is not a walk for everyone.

An outstanding experience.
A self guided tour of SW UK. Excellent hiking terrain through rolling English countryside, quaint small towns, and friendly B&Bs. The latter were all outstanding and two cases exceptional accommodations. The tour was memorable, not only because of the terrain, but the unpredictable English weather. It led us to laughter as we'd switch from winter gear to summer gear in the span of ten minutes. Snow and driving rain to sunshine.

On Foot holidays has been, through hikes that my family and I have taken (Italy twice, Croatia, Spain, French Alps, and now the UK) an outstanding organization. They are professional, caring, organized, detail oriented, and address issues if they were to occur. To get a call letting us know that the B&B operator was going to be 30 minutes late and that they had made arrangements for us, was just outstanding. The self guided tour documents are clear, accurate, and very helpful. I will continue with On Foot Holidays for my next set of hikes. An outstanding organization.

Excellent week hiking the Amalfi Coast with On Foot Holidays handling the logistics
On Foot does all the preliminary research to find a group of suitable hotels from which to choose, handles all the bookings, and provides carefully researched instructions on how to follow a walking itinerary that will take you off the beaten track to see things most tourists miss. And they actually walk the walk to ensure the instructions are accurate. Best of all, they schlep your bags from place to place so you can wander all day with only a day pack. We usually do this planning work ourselves, but we're getting old enough that it's nice to have someone else do it for us -- particularly the heavy bags. The people at On Foot were relentlessly cheery despite an occasional bonehead question from me, and always helpful. They really pay attention to the details. For example, they discovered, a few days before we left, that a landscape had wiped out part of our trail, and sent us alternate travel instructions before we left that saved us a lot of time and stress. They did a great job of selecting hotels: not always the specific place we'd pick for ourselves, but always clean, comfortable, and staffed by friendly people. We were completely satisfied with the range of options they offered and with out choices.

Mr
A great walk though a beautiful part of the country (especially in spring when the bluebells are out). Lovely scenery and pretty villages and some interesting old buildings. Good accomodation.

Spectacular scenery and great hiking in La Garrotxa in Catalonia
My children, aged 10 and 9, did a 6 day hike in La Garrotxa in Catalonia. The organisation on the part of On Foot was faultless and we very much enjoyed the trip on the whole. There was one day when we got quite wet but other than that the weather was wonderful. The hike contained some fairly steep uphill sections but, by and large, the kids managed it all quite easily

On Foot worked out daily hiking itineraries for our trip and we pretty much followed these. The itinerary contained detailed route notes and a GPX file which I used on my iPhone in case the notes were difficult to follow. On Foot also organised our accommodation at the end of each day and the hotels took our bags to the next hotel. All of this worked well and there were no issues to speak of. On Foot also supplied cultural and history notes about the area.

An outstanding organisation for walking holidays
Two of us, 65+ males, have just walked the Umbrian route from Spoleto over the Sabine Hills to just north of Rome. The route was quite taxing with a fair amount of climbing but the 5 days were well planned and just the right intensity for reasonably fit senior walkers. The maps and the route descriptions for each day were excellent and the accomodation in agriturismi and charming B&Bs in wonderful hill-top villages was of a high quality. The ...

A very capable caring tour operator that puts major effort into customer service and preparing the walks. I will certainly travel with them again. There are at least 6 more yomps in their catalogue I would like to do.
