Wonderful day trip with a very knowledgeable guide

We went on a one-day naturetrek tour of Tor Bay (UK), half a day on a boat and half a day onland looking for wildlife. During the afternoon walk our guide pointed out wildlife that we would never have known about or seen without his input. We were also extremely impressed with our guide's track record in conservation in the local area. The day was well-paced and the guide spent time chatting to all of us and answering our questions. I was a great day.

Great safari in the Kruger

There were six participants and a guide on our six night safari to the Kruger park. We stayed in three different camps getting a flavour of the various habitats through the south of the park. We had two safaris per day, the length of time determined by the sightings and destinations. Our guide was excellent and our tally for mammals sighted was34. Although billed as a mammal safari birds were not ignored and our bird tally was one hundred and seventy five. Highlights were seeing a pack of wild dogs; a leopard walking out in front of our vehicle and staying around us for nearly ten minutes, scent marking the roadside bushes, and rolling in the grass. A pride of lion causing quite a roadblock, but everything was viewed with a sense of wonder and plenty of time to soak up the bush atmosphere. A night drive taken with the park rangers (optional extra) gave us a view of the Milky Way whilst sitting and listening to the hippos and frogs at the water hole.

Naturetrek trip to Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, Karnataka, India. Our accommodation at Kabini River Lodge was superb, as were all the handling arrangements. We had amazing views of tigers and many other animals and birds on our twice daily jeep excursions in the Reserve. Our guide Kaustubh Muluy and driver looked after us with such care, making sure we enjoyed every minute of our holiday. Can`t wait to go back again.

Chile`s Pumas and Penguins

We visited Punta Arenas in Southern Chile, explored the Torres del Paine National Park and made it to Porvenir on Tierra del Fuego, enjoying spectacular mountain and pampas scenery, having 15 sightings of Pumas, spotting countless amazing birds and visiting the northernmost colony of King Penguins. Our local guide was superlatively good, and in addition a lovely person to spend time with. Accommodation and food were excellent.

We had twice before travelled with Naturetrek so our expectations were high. We were not disappointed . The material sent in advance was extremely helpful, accurate and informative,. When we needed pre-travel documentary assistance, we got great support from the team at Naturetrek's UK base. The itinerary worked very well and gave us just what we were hoping for from this trip.

BAJA2, whale watching Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez

From leaving home to arriving back, we had a very special experience. The Searcher and crew were awesome, friendly and very accommodating. The whale experience in San Ignacio was beyond any expectation, but the whole ethos of the Searcher crew, seeking and around the whales, impressed. The group of "guests", the leaders and the crew made for an experience that is hard to find words to explain.

From initial contact, at Birdfair, the Naturetrek staff were very knowledgeable and willing to give info and advice to novice "whalers". There were no questions too difficult to explain, there were no situations of insecurity or anxiety that weren't supported and relieved straight away. The leader on the trip was massively suited to her position, with a cheery disposition and excellent knowledge.

wonderful birdwatching experience

The daytrip was a full day birdwatching at RSPB Minsmere, led by Brian Small who was a superb guide. Brian has such a detailed knowledge of the reserve that we were able to enjoy wildlife that we would never have discovered on our own.

Wonderful!

This was a wildlife viewing holiday, essentially tigers, elephants and leopards, but including many other species of animals - and birds too - set in the beautiful Kabini River area of the Nagarhole National Park. A particular bonus for me was that it was a lot quieter and generally more 'civilised' than the Parks in central India, with much less jeep traffic and minimal 'red tape' with regard to entry requirements. A particular bonus for me was that it was a lot quieter and generally more 'civilised' than the Parks in central India, with much less jeep traffic and minimal 'red tape' with regard to entry requirements. The 'eponymous' Black Panther managed to elude us, but this did not in any way detract from the enjoyment of the holiday. Apart from the wildlife experience there was a really good relationship between our group and the Naturalist Guide, with a lot of good humour and fun! Our driver was superb too, also very knowledgeable with the identification of species - and a brilliant spotter!

Rating for tour operator:

I have travelled with Naturetrek on many occasions during the past twelve to fifteen years and they have always been extremely efficient and professional, taking a personal interest in each of their client's requirements and really 'pulling out all the stops' to satisfy.

Minsmere RSPB Reserve ( Day Trip).

Had a fantastic day birdwatching around the RSPB reserve at Minsmere with our experienced guide, Brian Small. We saw an excellent range of birds including a a short eared owl hunting and two bitterns in flight. Brian has so much knowledge to share especially for this locality which is near where he lives. Being in a small group makes this a very special experience.

See above. Brian has led numerous birding trips in the UK and abroad and therefore has detailed knowledge about birds, their habitat, behaviour and song. I have already recommended him to several birding freinds.
