Getting yo know the Inner and OUter Hebrides

I had a week on Mull, four days on Skye and a week based in North Uist. There were five top quality guides on Mull, one local guide on Skye and a very knowledgeable guide for the North Uist section. Much of the activity centred on finding the birds of these islands but there was also opportunity to view the amazing landscape, historical sites and enjoy the local food.

I have travelled many times on trips organised by Naturetrek and I have always found them most enjoyable and excellently planned and executed. They have top quality guides. Some trips are strongly bird orientated but many others cover other aspects of visiting new areas.

Amazing wildlife experience

The entire trip was tailored to maximize wildlife encounters. The Searcher has years and years of experience doing exactly this and knows the best places to go to do so.

The company or the guide? They were both good. Naturetrek went out of its way to be helpful when we had to jump on at the last minute when another trip was cancelled. They were excellent at communication and dissemination of information. Paul was an excellent guide and photographer and looked after all of us with care.

It is possible to have more than one holiday of a lifetime!

I had an amazing time with Naturetrek in Mull- and managed to get some pictures under their guidance that I could only have dreamt of before. Let alone sharing the great experience of seeing some amazing wildlife in fantastic care and company.

Naturetrek have always been amazing for every trip I have travelled on. Not only that they provide one to one care especially proven with the recent travel issues which have affected many people in different ways. But they have been thoroughly accommodating to help in any way possible to ensure no disappointment with travel plans. They have also provided so much care and attention with private itinerary plans to get the most out of my travels.

Wonderful Wildlife

A week in North Macedonia with Naturetrek. The food was delicious and our two guides were excellent working very hard to ensure that we all saw our target species. An amazing array of wildlife was seen, including 105 butterfly species.

Naturetrek is a brilliant company delivering a vast range of fantastic wildlife holidays around the World. Their standard of communication is excellent I always get a very quick response to any queries and during the pandemic I received refunds very promptly for cancelled trips. During the pandemic they came up with the idea of UK day trips. I have been on a few and they even organised extra dates at my request on two occasions.

Outstanding!

We saw everything we had wished to see and more - including nightjar, spotted flycatchers, and all with excellent tour leaders and accommodation. The weekend was seamless from start to finish.

Rewarding experience

this holiday was entitled "Reptiles and amphibians of Greece." I knew nothing about these but the tour leaders and all the other group members were patient , helpful and informative. The tour leaders had everything under control and ensured that we all (despite lack of experience) got the most out of it.

An excellent wildlife experience

In spite of very unseasonal weather, even for Scotland, our excellent wildlife guides worked hard to make sure all 12 of us saw as much as possible every day. The accommodation although basic, as expected, was clean and there was plenty of hot water for showers and a drying cabinet for our very wet clothes. The food was also excellent and plentiful. Pine Martens and deer just outside the lounge window, what more could we need.

Nature spotting in remote Scotland

We stayed in a remote bunkhouse and went out every day in search of otters, eagles and other wildlife. There was a boat trip to a sea bird colony where the birds were completely relaxed in our presence - great for photography.

Fascinating day exploring Wyke Farm

An in-depth exploration of the wilding project at Wyke Farm, especially the fabulous wildflower meadows.

Rating for tour operator:

The tour leader’s knowledge of the methods used to increase biodiversity of the meadows and other habitats, and of the resulting prolific plant- and other life was truly impressive. He is also an enthusiastic and considerate teacher at all levels. I felt I learned so much as well as enjoying the day enormously.

Wildflowers, butterflies and seabirds

We stayed in a good hotel, right on Woolacombe bay. Our 2 leaders were knowledgeable about the local area and it’s flora and fauna. For me, a nightlight was seeing a whale while we were going to Lundy island.
