A wonderful Antarctic experience

There were several challenges faced by Naturetrek and Oceanwide, the organisers of our trip, due to weather conditions and the arrival in Antarctica of Avian Influenza. This meant that some of the primary landing sites on South Georgia were closed, but alternative arrangements were made by the day to avoid rough weather, and to maximise our wildlife experience, so we were able to spend more time around the Antarctic peninsula and see some wonderful wildlife and natural conditions. The Naturetrek guides were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, as were all the ship's crew and Oceanwide staff.

A group of ten of us were travelling to Tierra del Fuego via Frankfurt, and a series of aborted flights and mishaps occurred, which meant that we missed our southward connection in Buenos Aires. When alerted to this, Naturetrek staff worked overnight to rearrange onward travel for us, by plane and minibus via Rio Grande, and we reached the ship with 2 hours to spare. I have always found Naturetrek to be a great company, and in this instance they were superb.

Rating for tour operator:

My ‘go to’ tour operator as they are always responsive to queries and any problems are quickly resolved. They were particularly good during Covid, refunding promptly when holidays couldn’t go ahead. The guides provided are always first class.

Awesome close-up encounters with mega and mini fauna in the Maldives

We had a week whale and dolphin watching and snorkelling from Keana, usually used by divers, with local marine life expert Chas Anderson and Naturetrek's Alison Steel. Most of the group were experienced, but Alison went out of her way to ensure the one beginner got as much out of her experience as the rest. Highlights were being in the water with whale sharks and mantas at the stern of the boat while we were anchored.

The main trip was excellently orgnaised and run and they were very flexible with our extension to a resort operated by another company afterwards.

Outstanding

As a first time traveler on my own I could not of asked for any more. The time I left the airport the information given to us for flights and everything was explained very easily which left me feeling very comfortable and now I feel a lot more positive and confident. Having a night spent at Bandos was absolutely beautiful and also having a change to learn to Snorkle out there with Alison was a great experience as I haven’t snorkelled much...

The over all experience of learning to snorkel was super. The whole team on the boat and both leaders were amazing. The trip overall was phenomenal all the information about the Maldives was so fascinating to listen to listing about the dragon flys was amazing. All I can say is thank you to everyone I definitely would love to do another Naturetrek as I just love nature and animals Mammals.

Snorkelling and looking for whales and dolphins in the Maldives from a live aboard dive boat with excellent tour guides.

We had a week on a boat looking for whales and dolphins by day and snorkelling 2 or 3 times each day. The highlights were being in the water after dinner alongside whale sharks and manta rays which were feeding off the plankton which was attracted to a light shown over the stern of the boat. We had excellent enthusiastic guides with us.

Fabulous Borneo

Borneo's rainforests - what gems they are. The privilege of spending time in some of the last virgin rainforest in the world and their inhabitants was incredible. What a place - Orang Utan, Proboscis Monkey, Colugo, Civets, the birds....

Unique encounter with an endangered cat

During seven days in Andalucia we searched for the Iberian lynx in the two remaining areas of this rare cat. The trip started in Coto Donana, a bird paradise south of Seville to finish the trip in the mountains north of Andujar. We had two fantastic lynx sightings and many birds were seen. The weather was not on our side with heavy rain most of the time in Andujar but this did not affect our mood. Our fantastic guide, Byron, kept the mood high ...

The weather was not on our side with heavy rain most of the time in Andujar but this did not affect our mood. Our fantastic guide, Byron, kept the mood high even in this bad weather. Byron was very professional in his guiding, knowledgeable and engaging. The accommodation was very good throughout the trip. No luxury but clean and nice. The food was excellent where we could try many Spanish delicacies.

Rating for tour operator:

A very professional tour operator. Perfect service before the trip with clear information. We obtained past travel stories and species lists of what we might see prior to the trip. Very professional and knowledgeable guides. The choice of accommodation where location and atmosphere are prioritised instead of luxury is very good. We have previously traveled with Naturetrek in Brazil with the same experience as from this trip. Overall, an excellent tour operator.

Thailand highlights trip was excellent and worth every penny. The leaders were both friendly and knowledgable. The many places visited were really excellent and well chosen.

From day one everything went smoothly and the trip was a total success on all counts. The wildlife was totally breath taking especially the 100's of species of birds and butterflies seen.

Excellent trip to a part of Spain that was new to us

We travelled to Andalucia with Naturtrek in search of the elusive Iberian Lynx. It was our first venture into a group holiday and we were really impressed. The location, being out in nature all day, a highly knowledgeable guide and a lovely group of people all made it memorable. We did see the lynx, though sadly only once and briefly, but there was plenty of other wildlife, birds and good food to keep us occupied.
