A great introduction to Romanian wildlife
My first visit to Romania and we stayed in two centres, the Carpathian mountains and the Danube Delta, two very different landscapes. Hotels were excellent, including our floating hotel through the Delta. Food was also excellent. Our guides, both the one from the Uk and out two Romanian Guides were friendly, and very knowledgable. I learnt much about wildlife and also Romania, it's people and it's history. I will definitely try to return to Romania...

A perfect week in Mallorca
For our family 2016 marks 2 Big Birthdays. So I decided to go on a Naturetrek holiday in Mallorca. The Hotel was excellent and the weather was mainly perfect, there were a couple of mornings when there was light rain and it wasn't too hot either, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the birds and other wildlife. The excursions were perfect and the scenery was wonderful from rocky mountains to green meadows and lakes. Please note there was a ...

Please note there was a major cycle race, so there were loads of Cyclists, but that wasn't a problem. The food was very good and the friendship was really good.

I travelled with Naturetrek and they are an excellent company to travel with. And the tour leader was really good. They are very knowledgeable and know the best places to see wildlife and even off the beaten track was an advantage as the birds were present at all the sites we visited.

Rich in Nature from the Carpathians to the Danube Delta
Whether we were in the Transylvanian mountains or the down on the delta, the variety and wealth of wildlife was exceptional. The contrast between regions added to the spectacle and the ability of our two guides to get us to the right areas to get close views and photographs added to the enjoyment. Accommodation was always of a high standard for such a trip as were the meals, both in the hotels and during the day. We were a mixed bunch of naturalists, photographers and sightseers yet our guides brought us all together so that we worked as a team of observers and nature specialists and could not have got more from the holiday. A truly enjoyable experience.

The information provided before our tour ensured that we were well prepared for all eventualities with an expectation of what were might see and also what we might expect of our living and travel conditions. Booking was easy and the administration of the complete holiday went extremely well. We were therefore able to pack for the tour with the right clothes and accoutrements and were well prepared for all conditions.

Quality instead of Quantity
Main goal was to see an aardvark and we saw 5 (FIVE). Great diversity of other (rare) animals seen like aardwolf, hedgehog, black footed cat, caracal, brown hyena. The aim of the trip was to see South Africa's rare animals and we surely did. We did not have real quantity sightings but instead very high quality sightings. Local guides were excellent, very knowledgeable. Accommodations were excellent.

Birds, food and scenery in Spain with naturetrek
We visited Coto Donana and Extremadura in Spain, with Naturetrek. Excellent holiday - we recommend it. We saw a great variety of birds. Also flowers and scenery. The two places we stayed were full of atmosphere and the food was particularly good. We were with a very pleasant group of people, with whom we found plenty to talk about. The group leaders were superb and made the holiday a great experience for us. Would go with Naturetrek again!

Flora Fauna and Castles of Narbonne
Well organized and led by two from UK who had lived in France for many years. The hotel was satisfactory with excellent meals and very helpful staff. We spent out days travelling between a number of sites looking for birds, flowers and insects alongwith the odd castle. The picnic lunches provided by the guides were excellent. Socially it worked very well as we had much in common although we had varied backgrounds.

Brochure clear and attractive. Naturetrek staff friendly and informal. Very confident in their product. There is no hard-sell. The Staff are willing to relate your needs and concerns to the tours and, based on their experience of earlier tours, are willing and able to advise and encourage participation. The staff at Naturetrek Head-office also lead tours and they and other out in the field are passionately interesed in various aspects of the natuaral environment.

Provence in Spring.
A tour designed for botanists and ornithologists of all abilities/experience. The tour provided the opportunity to study the flora, some fauna and many species of bird, including vultures, eagles, waterfowl and many many more smaller species. Well organised itinerary with some room for fine tuning as regards the time spent in Provence and then the Camargue. The tour was led by two excellent, very competent and experienced British guides whose knowledge of their respective subjects was amazing.

Every aspect from inquiring about the holiday either via the website or direct contact was very efficient. Pleasant staff and very helpful. All paperwork, e tickets, itinerary, etc., was sorted and delivered in the time scale promised. The return flight was cancelled (due to a French Air Traffic Controllers strike action) but the operator re-arranged a later flight the same day and all was handled very well. Would recommend this operator and this was our first holiday with them.

Provence in Spring - Naturetrek holiday
This was a holiday based in both Provence (Sault) and the Camargue. It was a typical Naturetrek holiday with excellent guides and good choices of hotel. Although my speciality is birds, the guide Lizzie enthusiasm for plants was infectious and I found myself checking out different types of ...

This holiday was aimed at people with a broad knowledge of nature - birds, animals and plants. The weather was good and we saw a good range of species. Although my speciality is birds, the guide Lizzie enthusiasm for plants was infectious and I found myself checking out different types of orchid! Exotic butterflies were also seen. We managed to see a good range of species across a number of well chosen locations within a reasonable distance of the hotel. Meals at both hotels were good as were the rooms. There was a good friendly group that worked well together finding orchids, rare birds and butterflies. Meals were taken together which helped the group to get to know each other.
Rating for tour operator:

I have been on four Naturetrek holidays over the years and they have always been excellent. Their brochure is superb with a comprehensive selection of holidays that appeal to people with an interest in wildlife be it birds, mammals, plants, butterflies, whales etc as well as culture. Naturetrek always seems to find good guides with strong knowledge of their subject as well as competent tour leaders and drivers. Occasionally there have been problems for instance on the Provence holiday French Traffic control caused a problem but Naturetrek and British Airways worked together well to resolve it.
