We spent three days at the Jaguar Flotel and on our journey back to Porto Jofre our guide Paulo spotted movement in the dense undergrowth on the river bank. It turned out to be a female jaguar with a young cub. The cub had not previously been seen and as the guide is not allowed to choose a name our group had the immense privelige of naming the cub. We stayed in three lodges, all very good and the food was lovely and plentiful. We had wonderful sightings of Jaguars and other wildlife that inhabit this area, along with amazing bird life. I would be very happy to recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in wildlife.

A wonderful array of flowers in a beautiful area shared by Italy and France

The Maritime Alps straddle the border between Italy and France. We spent 3 days in each of two sites in each country. Weather permitting we spent each day, largely in the mountains looking at alpine and sub-alpine flora. We were accompanied by 2 knowledgeable botanists who imparted their expertise in a relaxed and interesting way. In the evenings their was the opportunity to summarise and reflect on the days experience.

Several people in the party(ourselves included) had travel arrangements which differed either before or after from those offered in the original package. Naturetreck accommodated these variations effortlessly and adjusted their price accordingly. The information about the holiday sent out before was appropriate and comprehensive, both from the point of view of travel logistics and botany.

A birders delight on the Whales and leopard holiday to Sri Lanka !!!!!

Sri Lanka Whales and leopards. Lovely holiday if you are a birder. However,if you thought that birds were only going to be a small part of the trip with equal importance, time and discussion being given to mammals then you will be disappointed. Yes the birds were beautiful and it was nice to see them but it was not advertised as a bird watching holiday. The guides delivered knowledge on all the birds but failed to stop vehicles,in Yala, when travellers requested to watch, for example, primates. Stops were guaranteed when a bird was spotted.!! Go by all means and enjoy but be prepared for the unadvertised amount of birding.

Rating for tour operator:

Trip logistics were well organised. Guides were knowledgeable on their speciality. Unsatisfactory response from HQ when brought to their attention that holiday was not as advertised. Told I should have read the trip notes prior to booking. These are sent after booking made so a little tricky. Sadly,I don't feel confident in using them again as we can't afford to spend money on trips that don't fulfill the advertised expectations.

Naturetrek responded to this review on 24 Sep 2015:

We are very sorry that Mrs Roberts felt that her holiday to Sri Lanka was spoilt by too much emphasis on birdwatching. As we explained at the time in our detailed response to Mrs Roberts, we provide a wealth of information on every Naturetrek holiday, hoping this will help each customer to make an informed decision prior to booking. These important documents are freely available from our website and from our office as hard-copies; they are not simply sent upon booking with no advance notice, as Mrs Roberts implies. A tour title of four or five words can only focus on the main targets of each holiday, if that, but the detailed Tour Itinerary we provide, together with previous Tour Reports and Checklists, provide a clear picture of what we plan to do each day, what we will look for, and what we might see. All this literature does make it clear that, whilst this holiday was not solely a birding holiday per se, it was a wildlife holiday that included birdwatching as an activity - particularly during the times of day when mammals are notoriously hard to see. Indeed, the tour 'Focus' given on our brochure page lists our aims as being 'Blue Whales, Leopards, other mammals and birds'. On the same page, the three quick-reference symbols provided to indicate the chief elements of the holiday denote 'birdwatching', 'mammals' and 'cetaceans' and the three illustrations similarly endorse these three areas of focus.

We do offer a very wide range of wildlife holidays and consider ourselves to be the most broad-minded of the specialist wildlife tour operators. We have tours that focus on butterflies, dragonflies, flora, mammals, cetaceans, and birds of course. We also offer wildlife holidays that focus on all aspects of natural history (especially those most in evidence, such as birds and mammals or birds and botany) - a thorough read of all the literature presented for each holiday, together with a phone call to our expect staff to discuss any areas of doubt, being the best way to assess its suitability for one's own interests.

Absolutely up to expectations

We saw sea eagles, otters, pine martins and porpoises; and I saw a minke whale. We were well looked after by Naturetrec as per usual. This was our third naturetrec holiday. We thoroughly recommend their holidays for people who want an experience of nature with a qualified and experienced leader - together with the company of likeminded people.

Our Peruvian Andes and Amazon adventure

Everything went to plan, there were no hiccups and we did and saw so much more than we'd anticipated. The mini Inca trail day was outstanding as was the day we were driven over the Andes from Cusco to Cock of the Rock Lodge in the cloud forest. The latter notched up at least 100 new bird species, many of them seen along the route, where we stopped frequently for birding and cultural visits. Naturetrek(UK) guided us, managed and arranged our holiday based on my research and reading of group holidays to Peru with an emphasis on nature, landscape and culture. We chose the bits we wanted to include and added activities that I had read about on line (eg - Palomino Islands just off Peru - an excellent trip, including swimming with sea lions- would recommend this after a long haul over night flight to Lima from Heathrow via Madrid)Inkanatura managed our trips, guides, drivers, bookings, food, accommodation, pick ups, transfers etc once in Peru. All staff were brilliant. Professional and knowledgeable local people who could offer a real insight to the 'real' Peru.

Nature trek specialise in wild life tours. They produce a full and updated colour brochure every year. Additionally their website is well maintained and informative. If you prefer the personal touch you can phone them and speak to a trip advisor. In my experience the brochure information on hotels and food is always accurate. The brochure also includes information on the level of fitness required for each trip. Nature trek tour guides are always approachable, knowledgeable and unflappable. I always feel relaxed when travelling with Nature trek confident that if the unexpected happens Nature trek will see you home safe.

Many-faceted Wild Portugal

We saw not only many plants (many endemic to the area) and birds (including Egyptian Vultures and rare White-rumped Swifts) but also Paleolithic rock engravings and much historic scenery in both town and country.

Well organised and relaxing nature rambles

The whole holiday was well organised to maximise our enjoyment. Each day was a relaxed pace, with the odd more exerting climb available should we want it! We saw an amazing array of wildlife, thanks to the expertise of our guides.
