Very satisfactory holiday with expert leaders.

I was on a Butterfly holiday to Hungary. The weather wasn't as warm as expected but we saw plenty of butterflies nonetheless and got good views of them as they were more settled than if it had been hotter. Accommodation was perfect for our needs and there was a superabundance of delicious food. The leaders were also very good, friendly and knowledgeable on all sorts of wildlife.

Naturetrek are a well known company specialising in wildlife holidays. I have travelled with them many times and find their itineraries very interesting and consider their holidays good value for money considering that most meals and accommodation are included. I like having my holiday organised for me. All I have to do is get to the departure airport on time, everything else is taken care of. i also like the fact that when in developing countries they often make use of local guides thereby putting money into the local economy.

Bavarian Beauty and a Feast of Flowers

It was a specialist flower holiday in the Alps, in Berchtesgaden National Park. We had three leaders - all experts on the local flora, birds and wildlife, as well as a mass of local information - who took us on day treks into the mountains. These were all in different valleys or onto different mountain tops, and all within reach of 30-40 minutes' travelling by minibuses. We had three leaders - all experts on the local flora, birds and wildlife, as well as a mass of local information - who took us on day treks into the mountains. These were all in different valleys or onto different mountain tops, and all within reach of 30-40 minutes' travelling by minibuses. We also made use of electric boats (on the Königssee), cable cars (up the Jenner mountain), and special buses, to access Hitler's retreat, the Eagle's Nest. We spent time in the Austrian city of Salzburg and the nearby market town of Berchtesgaden. I said it was a specialist holiday; and all members were delighted with the mass of flowers, particularly orchids, which we saw, often carpeting the alpine pastures as if with a paintbrush. We identified many birds, including several varieties of woodpeckers and Golden Eagles, and passed Marmot nearby and espied Chamois frolicking in snow, through a telescope. But even more, the leaders ensured that everybody had a wonderful experience and a relaxing, stimulating time, whatever their interest. I thoroughly recommend this trip to anybody with an interest in beautiful, wild places, whatever their level of interest in flowers and birds! Oh - and the accommodation in an Alpenhotel was great too!

We have travelled with Naturetrek on seven or eight previous occasions, to many countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. The trips are always thoroughly well planned and responsibly led, even in hazardous places. The staff at head office are always prepared to answer questions before departure and are willing to make special travel and accommodation arrangements to help their clients.

Saw lots of wildlife, birds and animals, good guides

We went on an organised tour for four days with a group of 10, it was a full packed itinery and extended the trip by another 6 days, just the pair of us with a local guide who was our driver and translater as well. Being in a smaller group we were able to be quieter and therefore see more. Our guide was very good on knowing the local bird calls and good fun. The area was rich in wildlife and getting up early paid off.

Beautiful location and informative

We went to the Sibillini National Park in Italy on a well organised trip run by Nature Trek to look at the flora and fauna of the area. Based at a family run hotel, Hotel Paradiso in Amandola we had a fantastic week amongst the wild flower meadows and hills of the area.

bird watching in central Sweden

The aim of the holiday was to target specific birds characteristic of Sweden. We saw 6 species of owl and three species of woodpecker and many more species. The hotel accommodation was excellent and the expertise of the guides was of a very high standard.

An exploration of Swedens forests, lakes and mountains

This was a search for many of the elusive birds and animals to be found in central Sweden, including Elk, Great Grey Owl and Three-toed Woodpecker. We travelled widely visiting a wide variety of habitats and experiencing every kind of weather from sunny evenings to mountain blizzards. We saw just about everything we were hoping for and many things besides. People were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. A great holiday!

We also experienced superb local food during our legendary Naturetrek picnics! Our hotel, the Aubergo Paradiso, was perfect as our base for the weeks expeditions, and we were exceedingly well looked after by our Hosts Geraldine and Marco. Their Menu was very varied, and very plentiful! The absolute highlight of the week, though, has to be our sighting of both a Male and Female Marsican Bear! This was on our last evening, and I think everyone had resigned themselves to not seeing Bears on this trip. However, due to the sharp eyes of one of the Guides, we were treated to at least half an hour watching these wonderful Animals! What a high we were all on! Altogether, an absolutely great trip.

Beautiful Bavarian Alps

Excellent accommodation in a beautifully located hotel with good food. A first rate selection of walks which gave a very good experience of the flora and fauna of the area. Group leaders were very knowledgeable and had researched the activities in advance so that everything ran like clockwork. Leaders also related well to all members of the group so that the overall experience was very enjoyable.
