Only our second Naturetrek trip and with much to live up to after a wonderful mid-summer exploring the Lofoten Island, Norway, in 2014. Marcus, our tour leader, Naturetrek and Iceland did not disappoint! From meeting us at the airport, Marcus spared no effort to ensure that our trip lived up to its title and to our expectations. The arrangements, itinerary, accommodation and travel were all of the same high standard we had experienced previously with Naturetrek. As for Iceland, it was without doubt, the star of the show. On our very first night, at Gullfoss, we were treated to an awe-inspiring display of the northern lights as our after dinner entertainment! The aurora were just the start of the show. Bubbling mud pools and erupting geysers, cascading waterfalls with near-permanent rainbows, glaciers grinding down from immense ice caps and icebergs rolling and bobbing in a lagoon only to be swept out to sea along a very short and equally fast-flowing river were all part of the daily scene for us. Just how many rolls of film would we have needed if it were not for our digital cameras and memory cards? As for the geological history, we barely scratched the surface. Walking over rocks that didn't even exist at the time of the Norman conquest was almost impossible to believe. Fantastic!

From the sheer weight of the annual glossy brochure, you would be forgiven for thinking that Naturetrek was the size of a small multi-national company. Whether it is , or not, the personal touch is that of a family business. Every aspect of Naturetrek is friendly, utterly professional and reliable. Nothing is too much for them to sort out. On both our trips they have expertly planned and booked extensions and alternative travel plans to fit our personal requirements. With so many exciting trips on offer, where will our next Naturetrek holiday take us?

It was a two week wildlife holiday. What made it very special was the fact that all the participants were like minded so got on so well. It also, helped that the Naturetrek guide was knowledgeable, had previously traveled in Madagascar, so could share her knowledge and obvious love of the country and its people. Even though there was a lot of travelling, it didn't seem to matter, as there was friendly talk in the vehicle and also plenty to see and take in as we went along. Accommodation and food were above expectation. The guides we used in the rain-forests when looking at the wildlife were both proud of what could be seen there and experienced at what they did.

Ive used Naturetrek several times now, if something works dont change it. The office staff are very polite and if you have a query, soon come back to you with an answer. Their pre travel holiday pack is thorough and gives you all you need to take with you, and do's and dont's of the particular country you are going to. So, if you read this, there are never any nasty surprises. Their brochure will also tell you things like 'there is a lot of travelling' 'the roads are not always to European standard' etc. So from the brochure you can choose if the holiday is for you. They are up front and not just trying to sell the holiday at any cost.

Four days in central Sweden exploring various wildlife habitats in a small guided group. A two centre holiday, the first accommodation being very good, the second OK. The trip was everything we had hoped for.

Naturetrek is an experienced provider of specialist wildlife and other themed holidays. They are very friendly and helpful with good local guides and contacts to maximise the holiday experience. Our satisfaction with the company explains why this was our eighth trip with them.

A seven day three centred holiday to Iceland, focusing on wildlife and scenery. Good hotels, weather was remarkable and so was the scenery. Good leader as per usual with all Naturtrek holidays. Added bonus of remarkable views of the Northern lights.

This is our third holiday with Naturetrek , pre holiday information excellent, leaders always knowledgeable and really look after the needs of all their clients.

1)Naturetrek provided an excellent trip in July this year, to a wonderful location in the Spanish Pyrenees. The accommodation was conveniently positioned to maximise our visits to the lower, higher regions and the border area with France. 2)Pre-departure information was complete and provided on a timely basis. 3)The group stayed at the well run family guest house Casa Sarasa, in Berdun,situated in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees. 4)An excellent continental breakfast, picnic lunch and evening dinner including wines/beers etc., were provided. 5)There was a large, excellent lounge for our daily de-briefs. 6)We were provided with three top class guides: David (Moths), Richard (Botanist) & Gerald (Butterflies. In addition, within the group were many knowledgeable members who added to the experts knowledge. This ensured that we sighted over 100 different butterfly species, varied plants & many moths. A moth trap was set-up each evening to review the following morning before breakfast. 7)With the excellent weather throughout the trip, we managed to see and photograph the Pyrenees at their best. 8)Many Griffin & Egyptian vultures were sighted during the trip. Towards the end of the trip the group went to a vulture feed. Carcases were put out and from a hide we were able to see over a thousand vultures descending over the course of our visit. A WOW factor. 9)The trip exceeded my expectations

A great opportunity to experience the Spanish Pyrenees in the company of like minded people together with a great photography tutor and naturalist. Based at Casa Sarasa in the village of Berdun we had great food and wine plus excellent rooms. Tutorials followed by field trips into the mountains were a terrific way to enhance our photographic skills. Good value for money and a trip well worth repeating again atin a different season.

Naturetrek has the skill to combine great efficiency with a friendly personal service. We had a lot of preparatory information at our disposal so little was left to chance. Not a cheap trip, but you pay for what you get and we were not disappointed.

The holiday, based in Spain was to observe the autumn migration of birds. Simon and Amy were particularly welcoming and made sure that every one was settled in their accommodation and comfortable.Each day we were taken to a different location, depending on the weather and what would be best to ensure that we saw what we wanted, consequently the itinerary was flexible. One day included a boat trip to see whales and dolphins and another saw us taken into Gibraltar and on up the rock. The picnics were excellent, the accommodation was really good, clean, comfortable, spacious.Add to that, excellent food and friendly staff and you have an excellent holiday.

naturetrek are very thorough, beginning with the extensive pre-holiday information. The holiday details are always flexible to ensure that the aims of the holiday are achieved. The tour leaders are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. You can always rely on naturetrek to organise a superb holiday.

Birding in Sicily. Normally the weather is 10 degrees C. lower than we experienced but due to the foresight of our leaders we managed to have a most enjoyable time. The accommodation was good and we could get out early mornings to walk around the vineyard prior to looking at the moth trap and breakfast.

This was a 'tailor-made' tour and we spent all our time at the Amazon Research and Conservation Centre situated by the Rio Las Piedras in Peru. The journey there was an adventure in itself. We had our own guide and he and the staff at the centre went out of their way to ensure that we had a wonderful experience. We explored the rainforest, had catamaran trips on the ox-bow lake and saw macaws and parrots at a clay lick.

We have been on at least twenty holidays with Naturetrek. The staff are always friendly and the company is very efficient in the organisation of the tours, making sure everything proceeds without a hitch.

We thought this a very well organised trip. My special diet had been taken into consideration and I ate very well while on the tour. The guides were very enthusiastic and we learned an awful lot about the areas we were in and the wildlife sightings were never to be forgotten.

We appreciated the information we were given before the trip, queries were answered very quickly. Very well organised. We thought the holiday was going to be good as we had seen the web site but it surpassed that.
