Excellent trekking holiday with wonderful birds and flowers

Trekking in the High Atlas mountains is not for the faint hearted. The slopes are challenging but the scenery and flora and fauna are worth the hard work. Camping is a great way to really experience the outdoor adventure, especially with mules carrying our bags and the muleteers erecting the tents each night. The food in camp was varied and beautifully prepared by the cook. All we had to do was walk and take photos.

Brazil - Just Jaguars! by The Smiths, 28 Jun 2016

An extravaganza of wildlife viewing in Brazil and Argentina.

As an avid wildlife and birding enthusiast I was attracted to the Naturetrek 'Just Jaguars' tour to Central Brazil's Mato Grosso and added an extension to the World renowned Falls at Iguazu in Argentina suggested by our tour operator.

Having chosen Naturetrek for several previous holidays we expected and received the highest standards of organisation and facilities for our chosen destination. They organise the most suitable flights and accommodation and ensure that highly competent professional guides are appointed at the destination to ensure that we get the very most in terms of comfort and achievement on our holidays. Where appropriate they also ensure that we are aware of possible short extensions to enhance our experience having travelled some distance to the primary destination.

Wild Spain

Our holiday was amazing, it was exactly as described in the Naturetrek brochure. There was a good mix of walking, wildlife, birdwatching, and plant life, with an abundance of rare wild orchids to be seen. The scenery was stunning. There was plenty of time given to the areas we visited. The guides on the tour were very knowledgable, and attentive to the groups needs and desires. Stunning scenery, very inspiring guides, great hotel and met some friendly people.

I travelled with Naturetrek for the first time, the whole holiday exceeded my expectations. The guides from Naturetrek were very informative and very knowledgeable. I came home with an in depth knowledge and understanding of bird life, flora, geology, and butterflies. I am planning to book another holiday with Naturetrek next year.

We were met at the airport from that moment onwards the holiday was planned for you. The tour operator had made sure within this plan there were options on each day for people to make choices regarding what they would like to do. The hotel was very comfortable, clean and very accomading with my dietitary needs.

Every day we hiked - more or less strenuously as one preferred - and picnicked among the gorgeous peaks and cirques of the Pyrenees while spotting specimens of hundreds of birds and alpine plants. Our accommodations at a family run hotel and restaurant were stylish, clean and comfortable. All the staff made us feel at home. The views and the food were both very good.

We had a few more guides than usual this particular time since it was the 30th anniversary of Naturetrek's first tour here. As is typical of Naturetrek's tours, they were very knowledgeable about their specialty - birds, botany - and also about the region. They were tireless in ensuring that all logistics went smoothly. Whether due to a change in the weather or the needs of us travelers, they remained flexible so that we all got the most out of our time. Without exception they were enthusiastic and fun to chat with on the trail, in the vans or over dinner.

The hotel was well chosen and was very flexible in catering for changes in mealtimes etc. The food was excellent, mostly local produce, and hotel staff were friendly and helpful The guides were very knowledgeable both in terms of the geographical area as well as in the birds, plants and butterflies that people wanted to see. There was a wide range in interests, knowledge and walking ability and staff made every attempt to cater for everyone. The group itself was a friendly mix of like minded people, so the holiday was also enjoyable socially. The location was amazingly beautiful and rich in flora and fauna and I would thoroughly recommend the experience.

Everything was well organised and thought out. There had been threats of a French ATC strike, which was called off, but contingency plans had been put in place by the company. Information prior to departure was comprehensive,, and having received lists of what we could expect to see added to the anticipation. The holiday really started from the minute we left the airport with several stops en route to the hotel which gave an early introduction to the alpine plants and birds we had all hoped to see. Staff were very good at getting to know everyone personally and to find out what their interests were. Staff were all friendly and knowledgeable and we appreciated the long hours they put in to ensure we all got the most from our holiday. From the early morning walks to see bird life before breakfast, to the organisation of amazing picnic lunches high up in the mountains in beautiful mountain scenery, and the after dinner get together soon to go over the sighting lists, no effort was spared to make sure we all got the most we could from the holiday

Looking at Flowers, birds and butterflies in the french pyrenees

This trip was a walking holiday to experience the magnificent scenery and the colourful and often endemic flora and fauna of this area of France. It was a 30th Anniversary trip for the company so we were a larger than usual group but with 5 vehicles and drivers it created no problem and the company were able to cater for the different abilities within the group. We were blessed with the most perfect weather to set off this breath taking scenery...
