Scotland's mammals & highlights of the highlands

Small group (9) plus leader who all got on very well. Good accommodation close to lock sunart. Great food. Great views of all target mammals and birds, really good leader who knew where to take us. Also I think it was great value for money. Would do this holiday again. Have been on a number of nature trek holidays and always good. These small group holidays work really well for couples or singles like me. Thanks to all

Naturetrek have always produced the goods. Think this is the eighth trip with them and always more than happy. Am going away again with them again at Christmas. The catalog has expanded over the years and loads of choice. I will be booking my next holiday with them when I can decide where to go next. Thanks naturetrek

Delightful wildlife group holiday in the Scottish Highlands

My week on the remote, wild peninsula of Ardnamurchan in the Western Highlands was both enjoyable and rewarding. I joined a lovely bunch of wildlife enthusiasts and a dedicated tour leader to look for, and find, pine martins, porpoises, red deer, golden eagles and heaps more flora and fauna. I laughed a lot and kept great company throughout the eight day holiday. I recommend a Naturetrek holiday!

The birds and butterflies of Hungary

A small group tour that visited three key sites to enjoy the birds and butterflies of Hungary. Our guides were extremely personable and knowledgeable. Our accommodation was good to very good throughout and the traditional Hungarian food, goulash, fresh water fish, soup etc. was nourishing and delicious. We also enjoyable travelling around Hungary which was green, clean and very friendly. Overall we had a really enjoyable time.

We have travelled with Naturetrek several times now. We have always found them highly professional, responsive to our needs and good value for money. The administrative issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently. We have arranged private add-ons to several of our trips and these have been well organised. The guides for our trips have always been highly skilled and good people to travel with. We will certainly travel with them again in the future.

Well Organised

The holiday was based in the Highlands of Scotland and the purpose was to view the wildlife of the area. This task was carried out by Minibus and boat in order to maximise the wildlife observation, this included trips late at night and early in the morning.

We have now been on several trips with this operator and have found them to be friendly and efficient. They provide lots of information about each trip on the website and give a lot of details in a pre-travel pack which is sent prior to the date of departure, this list contains contact details as well a advice on clothing etc.

Great Wildlfe and Great Organsition

I had two similar experiences with naturetrek this year, watching first bears and then wolverine and bear in Finland. Both were excellent, especially the chance to see wolverine which we did very well. The wildlife experience was top notch, good local guides, facilities and well thought through itineraries. I had two similar experiences with naturetrek this year, watching first bears and then wolverine and bear in Finland. Both were excellent, especially the chance to see wolverine which we did very well. The wildlife experience was top notch, good local guides, facilities and well thought through itineraries. These mammals are not easy to see so it was great to have such views, memorable photos and video footage also. All of which I am writing up as part of a book on northern landscapes and wildlife. I'd travelled all over to see wolverine, one researcher I spoke to tracked them for months and only glimpsed one, on this trip they were breeding nearby at their summer haunt in the Finnish taiga and we saw several feeding , climbing, even swimming. They are magical creatures, half bear half badger, always moving , looking for food, running with their unique looping gait, it was a privilege to see them. It also helped being in a small group and wit a good hide and guide, though it was also fun watching the people and their distinct personalities too which tend to come out when you are sharing a hide overnight! Fantastic trip all round.

Rating for tour operator:

They are obviously experienced and know what works and have researched the best places and guides. The bear trip had the added extra of a beautiful lake trip. From booking until the flight home it was very smooth and easy to relax and just get into the experience, unbothered by logistics they had taken care of. They were also helpful and friendly and made you feel you were having a unique experience.Everything went according to plan and the organisation was very friendly from the outset and appeared effortless. Excellent advice, info and flights, an all round quality experience and better than other operators I have tried by a margin.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

This was a memorable holiday - food, scenery, birds, local people - for me it was perfect and at the age of 83yrs I couldn't have asked for more. I have always found Iceland to be a calming experience and came back refreshed and energised. The weather was chilly but we had plenty of sunshine-a bit of misty fog which didn't stop us from doing anything. The birding was excellent.

Naturetrek is wonderful company. They know exactly what they are doing and couldn't be more helpful. The team leader knew exactly where to go for the birdwatching and meanwhile let us see some breathtaking scenery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Naturetrek Sweden Holiday Exceeded Expectations

As an American retiree I travel often and spend a fair amount of time researching areas and providers before making a decision. With the advent of the internet researching a trip is easy, but unreliable. Marketing and websites are so good today that a person really doesn't know if the holiday will live up to. Testimonials and photography often don't tell the true story. I have to say not only was Sweden itself far more charming than I expected ...

With the advent of the internet researching a trip is easy, but unreliable. Marketing and websites are so good today that a person really doesn't know if the holiday will live up to. Testimonials and photography often don't tell the true story. I have to say not only was Sweden itself far more charming than I expected but the level of service and quality of the local quide made me recommend this company and this itinerary to several friends. The Swedish countryside and it's wildlife is wonderful. And the lodging and accommodations were far better than I anticipated. I'm already planning another holiday with Naturetrek next Spring.
