Brazil - Just Jaguars! by Grubby, 17 Jan 2017

Just jaguars in Pantanal Brazil and extension to Chile Torres Del Paine to see Pumas

With no guarantees to see either big cat, we were totally overwhelmed with the opportunities to view these magnificent creatures. Sixteen sightings of Jaguar including one three our session where we followed one jaguar down river as it hunted for prey. Plenty of other wildlife to see in the Pantanal including, unexpectedly, the beautiful ocelot. We had fourteen sightings of Puma in Torres del Paine where the scenery is breathtaking. Being ...

Being a tailormade holiday for the extension to Chile, at little extra cost, we were able to discuss areas of interest with our guides and help with the daily planning, days out and excursions. A long way to go but a holiday filled with terrific memories that will last a lifetime.

Rating for tour operator:

Plenty of discussion and advice before finally booking with Naturetrek. We were able to plan our trip with their help and combined a group trip to the Pantanal with a tailormade extension to Chile. The trip followed the itinerary given and met all our expectations given by the operator.

Fantastic birding holiday over New Year in provence/the Camargue

One of the best birding trips ever - great guides (extremely knowledgeable, excellent interpersonal skills, very good drivers and operated as a team) - we saw (and learnt) so much and were able to explore so many different and fascinating landscapes. With such wonderful leaders and a congenial group of guests (and good weather as a bonus, it was a brilliant holiday.

Our flight from Southampton to Faro was delayed for four hours (by fog), nevertheless we were met on arrival by a taxi arranged by the operator (Naturetrek} and that set the tone for the whole holiday. We were a group of mainly elderly people and nothing was too much trouble for our Tour Leaders. It was a relaxed and hugely enjoyable Christmas in the sunshine.

Rewarding

Well-organised, guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. Accommodation perfectly satisfactory given we were off the tourist beat. Good local food. Saw all the species we expected to see and some we didn't.

A 70th birthday treat

This holiday exceeded my expectations; two weeks cruising between the beautiful Galápagos Islands, crisis-crossing the equator, snorkeling with hammerhead sharks, sea lions, turtles and too many beautiful fish to list. The Rain Forest has to be experienced to be believed. I found the humidity challenging but will not forget walking across the high tree canopy walkway looking down on monkeys and so many beautiful birds. Truly a trip of a ...

I always have confidence that the itinerary they put together will be manageable as they provide considerable pre-booking information, including extensive reports of previous trips on their website.

Fabulous Christmas holiday in Zambia seeing leopards

I travelled alone but joined 10 others for one of the best safari holidays I've ever had. The Kafunta Lodge we stayed in was excellent, the food was great, the staff friendly and welcoming and we saw some really good wildlife, as our naturalist guides were brilliant spotters. I knew that we stood a good chance of seeing leopards, but I didn't know we'd see as many as 6 in 6 days. One was in the classic leopard pose lying along a dead log. It ...

Naturetrek have a fantastic brochure with numerous holidays, most of which I wouldn't mind going on if time were not limited. The content of all the trips I've been on has been excellent and they seem to have the knack of choosing places to stay with excellent guides.

We stayed overnight in a hotel in Bucharest and the food and the beer were excellent and good value for money. Laurentiu Petrencu was the tour guide for the trip and his knowledge of the country and its history was first class as well his knowledge of the birds of Romania. I got five new species including the one I always wanted to see: Pallas's Gull which we got on the third day. We also got the target bird: Red-Breasted Goose in addition to: Pygmy Cormorant, Saker Falcon and Sombre Tit. On the last night, Laurentiu gave us an informative lecture on the Danube Delta which was interesting. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would like to thank Laurentiu and the other participants for making this a wonderful trip.

Xmas Bird-watching in Romania

A 5 night trip to the Danube Delta area over Christmas for bird-watching. It was my first trip to Eastern Europe and did not disappoint.

This was my fourth trip booked through Naturetrek and I have always been very impressed by them as a company. The catalogue, regular emailed newsletters and updates, and the website are excellent. Naturetrek staff are helpful and friendly on the phone, reply to emails promptly, and provide excellent information about the tour with a detailed itinerary, plenty of information about the practical side of the trip such as what to bring, hotels, currency etc, and excellent joining instructions. Both on line and paper brochures are well produced and tell the full story with no hidden extras. They have a huge choice of 'nature' holidays from short European breaks to longer Worldwide trips. Friendly staff are on the end of the phone to assist and give advice. This is our forth holiday with Naturetrek and we have been impressed with the high standards of their guides and efficient travel arrangemants.
