An excellent experience of Scotland`s wildlife and scenery.

The accommodation at Glenborrowdale on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in Argyll was ideal for exploring the region. The Naturetrek itinerary accurately described what wildlife was likely to be found and our tour guide made every effort to ensure that we achieved most objectives. A good spell of Scottish Spring weather helped to enhance our appreciation of the views and general scenery of the region.

The description of the itineraries provides all the information that one can expect for a wildlife experience and arrangements on tour are well managed. The quality and experience of the tour guides ensures that travellers get the best out of the trips

Spring natural history holiday in Tuscany. Birds, Butterflies and Flowers

Insects, butterflies and wildflowers were, in the main, more interesting and outstanding. Then spent several days inland in the hill country, journeying via old city of Sienna. Historically and culturally outstanding. Birding in the hills was not so good and botany was very good for those interested. My wife and I then spent a three day extension in Florence which was, in cultural and historical terms, stunning. All this was arranged and organised by Naturetrek. Everything went well and accommodation, meals and the daily itinerary catered for very well for all the parties needs. This is about the fifteenth time my wife and I have travelled with Naturetrek, testimony enough on this company.

Rating for tour operator:

As commented above, about the fifteenth time with them, so we must be satisfied customers. Itineraries, departure information and all travel details have always been very good and comprehensive. Any issues have always been effectively and satisfactorily dealt with. Little more I can say really.

A great week looking at birds, flowers and butterflies in the Quercy region of France

There were only six of us plus our leader on this trip in the very beautiful region of Quercy in the south west of France. We stayed in a very comfortable auberge right beside the river Lot. The hotel was obviously noted for its food because the restaurant was very busy every night. In this respect one disappointment was that they did not really cater for vegetarians. I think the French don't understand vegetarianism! Surprising really when ...

The hotel was obviously noted for its food because the restaurant was very busy every night. In this respect one disappointment was that they did not really cater for vegetarians. I think the French don't understand vegetarianism! Surprising really when you see their markets overflowing with delicious vegetables. Every day we went out in a minibus to different part to see flowers, butterflies and birds. Our leader was very knowledgable and chose the sites well. There was a nice balance between walking, looking at the flora and fauna and seeing things of local interest. A delicious picnic lunch was provided every day, complete with bottle of local wine. Altogether it was a very good holiday full of interest and in congenial company

Excellant Birding Holiday in Extramadura, Spain

This was my trip with NatureTrek and it was a very pleasant surprise. As small group of 10, we stayed in a small family run hotel in near Trujillo. The husband and wife, who ran the hotel provided excellent meals with unlimited quantities of wine. The evening meal typical had a musical accompaniment from their 2 teenage children. Rooms were clean and spacious whilst the building itself was of an interesting design. In the gardens there were ...

The husband and wife, who ran the hotel provided excellent meals with unlimited quantities of wine. The evening meal typical had a musical accompaniment from their 2 teenage children. Rooms were clean and spacious whilst the building itself was of an interesting design. In the gardens there were nightingales, magpie and if you were really lucky golden oriels. We had two guides, a local naturalist (Laura) as well as a UK based expert (Martin). They had encyclopaedic knowledge of the wildlife, especially with birds and butterflies. They took us to different locations each day so that in the 5 days most of us saw around 100 different bird species. So overall a very pleasant trip and totally recommended.

This is the first time I have travelled with NatureTrek and was very impressed with their organisation and standards. Everything worked as described in the plan. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The trip itself seemed good value for money.

Wonderful wildlife - an amazingly good holiday

A small boat journey round several islands of the Galapagos with amazingly close views of Galapagos sealions; wave albatross and blue-footed boobies displaying; lava lizards, tortoises, marine and land iguanas. Knowledgeable, friendly and very professional guide - Rissul - and good food and atmosphere on boat. My husband enjoyed snorkelling with manta rays, sealions and penguins. Knowledgeable, friendly and very professional guide - Rissul - and good food and atmosphere on boat. My husband enjoyed snorkelling with manta rays, sealions and penguins. A few days in Quito at the start introduced us to the history and food of Ecuador, including guinea pig. Then on to a few days in the Amazon rainforest - rather hot and humid, but great birds, caymans and flowers, again with wonderfully knowledgeable guides Pablo and Ernesto. Highlights included travelling by small dug out canoe along narrow canals through the jungle with the only sounds frogs ribbiting or barking or monkeys calling to each other.

Rating for tour operator:

Nature Trek specialise in holidays for people who love wildlife and want to share these experiences with like-minded people. You need to be fit for some of the experiences, but they are definitely worth it. Organisation is very good and the firm ensure that you feel part of the country which you are visiting. Local guides and helpers are especially well-trained, friendly and informative.

Varied, interesting and full of delights at every turn

A Naturetrek trip is always full of the local wildlife and this trip did not disappoint. Flowers were plentiful and identified readily by expert leaders, there were fewer birds but still some highlights. It was in the 'extras' though that this holiday excelled - including a climb to the crater rim of Mount Vesuvius, a visit to the ruins of Pompeii and a day trip to the magical Island of Capri.
