Wild Romania, breathtaking wildlife in mountains and Danube Delta

We were accompanied by a UK guide and local guide who managed to find us Brown Bears which we watched for 2 hours at close range. Highlight was cubs scuttling up a tree on arrival of huge, battle scarred male. We stayed on a floating hotel on the Danube Delta where we saw groups of pelicans fishing as a team, a sight reminiscent of a ballet. Several white tailed eagles, again at close range when we turned a corner of a channel in the reed beds ...

We stayed on a floating hotel on the Danube Delta where we saw groups of pelicans fishing as a team, a sight reminiscent of a ballet. Several white tailed eagles, again at close range when we turned a corner of a channel in the reed beds and they took off right in front of us. We saw numerous other birds such as the colourful bee eaters, rollers and whoopoes. We were looked after wonderfully by the Romanian staff both in the guest houses and when were afloat. One of the best holidays we have ever been on. Thank you Naturetrek.

From booking to arriving back at Heathrow they were fantastic. All the arrangements went smoothly and our very personable guides worked tirelessly to find birds, mammals, invertebrates, amphibians and plants and made sure everyone saw them. They were also great fun and ensured that there was a nice relaxed atmosphere wherever we went. I laughed a lot and enjoyed every minute of their company

Austria’s Steppes & Wetlands

This was a wildlife trip to explore the lowland area of Austria & parts of Hungary. We were based in a comfortable hotel in Illmitz and visited different areas from there. The bird life was plentiful, it was a pleasure to see Imperial eagles, Long-eared owl and a plethora of water birds. We travelled mainly by minibus but one morning went out by horse and cart. Walking across a bridge into Hungary & seeing the remains of the Iron Curtain border was interesting. One evening we ate in a local restaurant and sampled local produce especially the Mangalitca pig meat. The trip was led by a knowledgeable, well organised naturalist.

We have travelled with Naturetrek on numerous occasions since 2015. We have always found them to be very efficient. Queries are dealt with promptly. Appraisal forms regarding the holiday are sent on our return, including a suggestions for improvement section. In my experience, any comments made are taken on board. Staff are always professional, friendly, and polite. We travel with confidence knowing that Naturetrek are there if problems should arise.

A North Macedonia butterfly/bird extravaganza

It was a wonderful opportunity to see so many species of butterflies and birds that are not seen in the UK. We also experienced some of the history, culture and hospitality of Macedonians.

A week of wonderful wildlife watching on Mull

We were in a small group with a leader local who had fantastic knowledge of all of the fauna and flora in the area. Naturetrek offers a huge range of wildlife holidays covering the whole world and a vast range of different wildlife experiences. Wherever we have been the guides have been incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and the history and culture of the country we were in. Nothing is too much trouble right the way through the company.

John knows the island intimately and is a fund of knowledge in all froms of wildlife. He was ablee to taylor our activities to suit the weather conditions of the day and to access areas that would not normally be open to the public. His enthusiasm is infectious. He was also good at choosing great restaurants for or evening meal!

Unique Naturetrek holiday in Romania's Danube Delta & Carpathian Mountains

Amazing from the Carpathian Mountains to the Danube Delta and the Black Sea coast. The variety of birds and animals was truly awe-inspiring. Seeing 14 brown bears in the mountains was real highlight as was the scenery. The floating hotel was the perfect way to explore the Danube Delta. The local guides were outstanding in their knowledge, good company and their organisational and management skills to manage the group and the tour were first class...

My first experience with Naturetrek was a day tour in the in Keyhaven post covid with Dominic Couzens. Since then I have taken 11 tours ranging from the Channel Islands to The Galapagos Islands and I have 3 booked for 2025 They offer a marvellous range of professionally organised wildlife holidays, with expert guides. I've always enjoyed the company of the group.

Relaxing and immersive birding holiday

We had perfect weather, food was home cooked in a beautiful finca in an olive orchard next to hills and mountains, overlooked by eagles and beautiful small birds, filling the air with their song and flight. As a birding novice I came along with no expectation really, but I learned a lot and while I was the youngest by far, to my millennial self it felt as though I was in a pokemon game. Trying to find and observe as many birds to add to my list. With the list getting larger, the hunt became more exciting. I had no idea I'd be excited to see a hawfinch. The guides Sergio and Keith were attentive and organised and have incredible knowledge on birds, butterflies and other fauna. Highly recommend this trip to anyone with any interest in birds and sun!

A Wildlife Festival in the French Pyrenees

This was an 8 day holiday with daily excursions in the mountains and valleys of the Pyrenees accompanied by expert ornithologists, botanists and entomologists. We saw an amazing variety of birds, mammals, butterflies and beautiful flowers. The highlight for me was seeing a Lammergeier sitting on a nest, as well as seeing them flying on several occasions.
