Unique Naturetrek holiday in Romania's Danube Delta & Carpathian Mountains

Amazing from the Carpathian Mountains to the Danube Delta and the Black Sea coast. The variety of birds and animals was truly awe-inspiring. Seeing 14 brown bears in the mountains was real highlight as was the scenery. The floating hotel was the perfect way to explore the Danube Delta. My first experience with Naturetrek was a day tour in the in Keyhaven post covid with Dominic Couzens. Since then I have taken 11 tours ranging from the Channel Islands to The Galapagos Islands and I have 3 booked for 2025 They offer a marvellous range of professionally organised wildlife holidays, with expert guides. I've always enjoyed the company of the group.

Wonderful trip to beautiful Macedonia

An absolutely stunning week of butterflies, birds, dragonflies and traditional Macedonian food. We saw over 100 species of butterflies, just beaten by the stunning total of bird species including Bee-eaters, Rollers, Eagles and Golden Orioles.

Relaxing and immersive birding holiday

My father and I went on a slow paced bird watching tour in the west of Spain. We had perfect weather, food was home cooked in a beautiful finca in an olive orchard next to hills and mountains, overlooked by eagles and beautiful small birds, filling the air with their song and flight. As a birding novice I came along with no expectation really, but I learned a lot and while I was the youngest by far, to my millennial self it felt as though ...

We had perfect weather, food was home cooked in a beautiful finca in an olive orchard next to hills and mountains, overlooked by eagles and beautiful small birds, filling the air with their song and flight. As a birding novice I came along with no expectation really, but I learned a lot and while I was the youngest by far, to my millennial self it felt as though I was in a pokemon game. Trying to find and observe as many birds to add to my list. With the list getting larger, the hunt became more exciting. I had no idea I'd be excited to see a hawfinch. The guides Sergio and Keith were attentive and organised and have incredible knowledge on birds, butterflies and other fauna. Highly recommend this trip to anyone with any interest in birds and sun!

A Wildlife Festival in the French Pyrenees

This was an 8 day holiday with daily excursions in the mountains and valleys of the Pyrenees accompanied by expert ornithologists, botanists and entomologists. We saw an amazing variety of birds, mammals, butterflies and beautiful flowers. The highlight for me was seeing a Lammergeier sitting on a nest, as well as seeing them flying on several occasions.

The Gambia in Style

A wonderful trip organised by NatureTrek - everything went to plan, and was well organised. The resort was excellent as was the Tour Guide, and the guides in Gambia were so knowledgeable. The birdlife is extraordinary and we couldn't have wished for a better experience.

I’d wander before breakfast anlong the dusty lanes , fields of yellow wagtails, paths of purple mallow and chamomile. Every day we set off to explore a different part of the island, beautiful mountain roads, stopping along the way, wild herbs everywhere. Our guides went out of their way to point out rare flowers and birds of every kind. We explored waterfalls , wetlands, watched the terrapins swim along the river, saw Black Ibis , Rare Swallowtail butterflies , poppies along the beach, so many different kinds of orchids, wild peonies among olive groves , swam on a deserted pebble beach of exquisite clear turquoise waters, enjoyed late lunches in villages, views through blossom trees of the sea and mountains curving along the distant shore. The trip more than exceeded my expectations. It was wonderful! πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Spring flowers in the Austrian Alps

The holiday consisted of day trips from an excellent hotel led by two naturalists, one focusing mainly on the flowers we could see, the other on the birds. We went to a different location each day and often used local cable cars and chair lifts to get high up the mountains. Another day there was a boat trip. The naturalist leaders identified the flowers we saw and birds we saw and heard and led us to interesting places I would never have found for myself. I am particularly interested in European orchids and had the thrill of seeing meadows purple with marsh orchids and of seeing the Lady’s Slipper Orchid in glorious flower hidden away deep in the woods. This was a Go Slow holiday which meant distances and days were shorter than on a standard Naturetrek holiday.

St Kilda & the Hebrides - stunning

Amazing to be able to get to St Kilda with the choppy sea & enjoy the remote islands. Loved seeing the puffins so close with sand eels in their beaks to take to the burrows for the newly hatched chicks. Mingulay & Lunga were great for Puffins

Exciting St Kilda and the Hebrides wildlife experience

It was a guided wildlife tour to the Hebrides including a visit to St Kilda. We saw river otter and dolphin, white sea eagle, golden eagle, thousands of gannets, puffin, guillemot, fulmar and other seabirds. The trip included various landings on islands by transfer using a Rib.

Naturetrek area specialised Nature tour operator. The naturalist guide Sara was excellent. The boat was the Hjalmar George - the captain David was very adept at exploiting weather windows to cross the Minch and to St Kilda itself.
