Our holiday was well organised, with a good itinerary, and well led by a personable and knowledgeable local guide, and as a result we saw a wide variety and large number of birds..

An amazing bird an butterfly spotting holiday in Hungary.

We saw literally hundreds of birds and butterflies, visited a site for rearing rare snakes, trekked into the night to see bat netting and identifying, found edible frogs and strange beetles. Our fantastically knowledgeable Hungarian guide produced wonderful picnics every day from fresh produce bought locally, as well as driving safely on very bumpy tracks into the wilds.

Everything from the office in England was first rate. In Hungary our solo guide and operator was absolutely amazing, we could not have had a better. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and extremely well organised.

adventure in Brazil

We started off in the Pantanal searching for anteaters and staying in a lodge in Bonito then we went on a boat (Iracema) on the Amazon, Rio Negro and Jau National Park. It was a small group, only 7 of us plus crew and guide.

Offered the holiday we were searching for. Answered our questions promptly but obviously researched the answers before answering. Liaised with us re the extension and accommodation between extension and cruise.

A complete Sri Lankan experience!

The itinerary took us all over the island from 7000ft up, down to the Indian Ocean, allowing us to experience, not only the flora and fauna, but the culture, giving us a true feel of the Sri Lankan lifestyle. There were the unexpected things (e.g. picking tea/visiting Galle and botanical gardens/being given an ice cream and a map of Sri Lanka/getting along famously with our fellow travellers) and the anticipated things (e.g. learning new things/...

There were the unexpected things (e.g. picking tea/visiting Galle and botanical gardens/being given an ice cream and a map of Sri Lanka/getting along famously with our fellow travellers) and the anticipated things (e.g. learning new things/safaris/night safaris/hotels/religions) but, particularly, the elephants and leopard sightings. We were so very lucky but it was also down to the experienced and knowledgeable guides. The two guides, Saman and Dhanushka, and the driver Sunil, were the perfect team. The guides' general and local wildlife knowledge was invaluable. Their passion for animals, birds, reptiles and insects was infectious and their patience limitless.

Rating for tour operator:

Everything we needed to know was contained in the very informative paperwork supplied prior to our holiday by the tour operator. The hotels were as expected. The holiday ran smoothly and even a puncture on the minibus was sorted with speed and good humour. The flight times could not have been better.

We spent a week in the Swiss Alps with excellent and highly experienced nature guides. They were very patient in explaining everything we saw, and even prepared a picnic feast for us every day out in the field.

There were problems on the return journey due to a storm and Naturetrek ably and efficiently rearranged flights and onward travel for those affected. They were also proactive in helping and supporting those of us who had made our own travel arrangements.

Spitzbergen - realm of the polar bear

Nine days on board MV Quest sailing around Svalbard with a view to spotting as much Arctic wildlife as possible. We saw, inter alia, four polar bears, Bowhead and Beluga whales, Arctic foxes, reindeer, walruses and a quantity of different birds. We explored different parts of Spalbard by zodiac, disembarking and exploring the range of tundra on foot. And of course we enjoyed sensational land- and seascape.

Naturetrek’s UK office provided ample coherent information pre-departure. Their three accompanying experts were superb at wildlife-spotting day and night. They were also efficient at chaperoning and troubleshooting.
