Winter wildlife weekend in the Forest of Dean

Lovely hotel and good food. Saw lots of wildlife, the highlights being a family of wild boar, a great grey shrike, and peregrines and little owls at Symonds Yat. Our leader, Tom, was knowledgeable and helpful, and took us to a number of different habitats around the Forest. An excellent holiday which we are hoping to repeat in the future.

Very efficient. Small group, which is good when trying to spot wildlife.

A great trip for avid birders.

We covered a lot of ground in 9 days and got to places in Morocco that we would never attempted on our own. The organisation of the trip was excellent. The only reason I didn't score this trip as excellent is that, personally, I would have liked longer to cover the distances (usually we spent just one night in each hotel) and, as a birding walker rather than a walking birder, I did start to glaze over when the finer detail of lesser, shorter ...

Good organisation. Support form Naturetrek before and during the trip could not be faulted. Trip leaders were very knowledgable and the locally employed drivers were excellent.

Wild Japan in Winter

We had the most amazing trip to Japan which more than met our expectation. The wildlife was amazing, the people in Japan were so friendly and polite. The highlight was the Hokkaido part of the trip with great views of Cranes and Steller's Sea Eagles.

COSTA RICA birding holiday (Naturetrek code CRI01)

Excellent trip. Well organised - went like clockwork (as did my previous Naturetrek trip). Very good accommodation. Good food (no tummy upsets). Superb birds. Managed 350 species; about a third of the country species list in 16 days! The guide was first class - couldn't fault him (Yehudi Hernandez).

Gentle walking to see the varied sights of Gran Canaria

A small group trip to see flora ,fauna, geology and archaeology of Gran Canaria. Weather perfect - 22 to 24 C with blue skies. A busy programme of sightseeing. We drove all over the island and saw a great variety of flora and fauna. The geology was fascinating - will never forget the Parador and cauldera it overlooked . Interesting history too. Never new there were historical links with Canary Wharf in London

Whale watching off Baja California and the Sea of Cortez. We saw blue, sperm and humpback whales, in large numbers and very active, dolphins and many species of birds. The crew of the Searcher ( our home for 12 days) were experienced, professional. very friendly and included first rate chefs.

A fascinating experience of southern Morocco, especially the desert areas.

It was a non-stop tour which covered a range of environments in order to see a large selection of the country's bird life. The two guides had excellent knowledge of the birds.

Great birding in Aragon

This was a great holiday in and around two excellent, contrasting birding locations in Aragon, Spain. The holiday was well-paced with many birding highlights (thousands of cranes, breathtakingly close views of vultures, Duponts larks singing before dawn.... I could go on), and the group members were good humoured and got along well. We really enjoyed both village hotels in their different ways - it was one of the things which attracted me to ...

I could go on), and the group members were good humoured and got along well. We really enjoyed both village hotels in their different ways - it was one of the things which attracted me to this holiday and we were not disappointed. The food was splendid too - copious delicious country cooking in Alquezar (sensational white bean soup!), and an altogether more refined and equally delicious approach from chef Vipul at Hotel Allucant in Gallocanta. Both hotels had bars providing the opportunity for some much-needed post-birding refreshment. We would happily have stayed longer in both places. I can't speak highly enough of the care and attention from both excellent leaders (Niki and Chris). In addition, both were very knowledgeable and great fun to be with. And the picnics were great. What more could one ask?

Rating for tour operator:

For us, Naturetrek is a tried and tested operator. This was our eleventh trip with them. All aspects of communications are handled with great efficiency, and the website is a mine of information. Staff at their UK headquarters are unfailingly helpful.
