Excellent experience
We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the Forest of Dean, with our excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We were shown birds, mammals, amphibians and insects. The other walkers were also interesting and we all had a wonderful day.

Cambridgeshire Fens day trip - birds, butterflies, dragonflies, weather and leader all excellent!
Both of the locations - Fen Drayton and Ouse Fen RSPB reserves - can be visited without a guide, of course. The difference that going with the tour leader Duncan makes is that he knows the best spots for individual species and can identify and talk about all of the wildlife that we encounter. Naturetrek set the standard to which everyone else can aspire. Not just for the "content" of the tours, but for the conduct and approachability of all of the people who work for it, the administration of the holidays and their ethics.

Good weather, excellent leader, wonderful wildlife
We had a gentle walk around two parts of Martin Down (on the Hants/Dorset border). The cold spring meant that many of the flowers were late, but we saw some nonetheless, including a field carpeted with cowslips. The sunny weather on the day brought out many butterflies - our leader Tom did his PhD on Grizzled Skipper, but he also knows the birds and flowers, and importantly he knows the area well.

We have had several very enjoyable Naturetrek holidays in Europe. With the Covid restrictions, they had the great idea of getting their tour leaders to lead day trips in the UK for groups of five people. This has opened our eyes to what is around "at home" - always assuming you have a Naturetrek tour leader on hand to take you to the best places and to tell you about what is to be seen and heard. Dealing with a company with an excellent reputation means that you can rely on them.

An excellent day out
A gentle ramble through the area around Walberswick (Suffolk), concentrating mainly - but not entirely - on birds. The leader, Brian, is very knowledgeable and has an acute sense of hearing, able to identify birds that are barely audible. He knows the area extremely well, which means that he knows the best places to find particular species. An excellent - if rather cold - day was topped off by finding three Ring Ouzels.

Naturetrek can't control the weather, and can't make particular species appear by magic, but they do manage everything else extremely well, and trips are always planned with a good knowledge of the patch and what it is likely to contain. Tour leaders are experts - often in many fields of wildlife - but also very good with people. Above all, when we hear so many reports of other companies treating their customers unfairly, Naturetrek is a company we can trust, absolutely.

Great birding in the Forest of Dean
A one day trip by Naturetrek exploring the birds and wildlife of the Forest of Dean. Led by Tom of Naturetrek was very professional and enthusiastic . Great at recognising birdsong , he helped all the tour guests to experience and view many species of birds and mamals they would normallly find very difficult to spot

Tom. Professional and entusiastic. He enjoyed showing all quests the sights and sounds of the Forest. Very good at recognising birdsong which greatly helped track down the rare and elusive speciaes such as Firecrest and Wood Warbler. Lovely chap ,a credit and first class ambassador for Naturetrek

Dolphins, eels and guillemots.
The day started with a boat trip around the coast to view the vast and lively guillemot colony, looking out for seals and dolphins both of which eluded us until the afternoon although we spot a puffin which was unusual for the area. Lovely weather and calm seas enhanced the experience and provided clear views of the interesting coast of Torbay. The afternoon was a walk around Berry Head with limestone plants, small blues and fascinating geological features.. Tracked a pod of dolphins who moved close to the headland playing on bow waves for fifteen minutes or more, providing great views of their antics. An unexpected encounter was a group of eels living happily in the shallow ponds of the quarry remains. Nice views of cirl bunting on return to the carpark Overall a very interesting and uplifting day with lots of variety lead by a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide.

Naturetrek tour guide, Mike Langman was very knowledgable and passionate about his local patch. His relaxed and friendly manner made the day feel unhurried although we covered a lot of ground and different habitats.

A lovely day trip
We had a great day out with Byron Palacios exploring Durlston CP and local heathland. We saw many birds and Byron is an excellent guide. He certainly knows the birds of the area and is very patient with showing us what he sees.

Excellent leader
This was a day trip looking for wild orchids and more on the South Downs. Despite the lack of Man Orhids , there was plenty of other species spotted, including the Fly and Greater Butterfly Orchids. Philip couldn't have been more knowledgeable and agreeable to the group. Plenty of information on species and habitat. A very enjoyable day.
