Very Informative.
The "holiday" was a day trip learning techniques used to gain better photography of seabirds. The leader / tutor (Andrew Mason) was excellent, both knowledgable and patient. All members of the group achieved success and gained new confidence with their camera equipment.

It is good to see that Nature trek have developed these "day events" over the last difficult year - I hope that they continue with them when some "normality" returns.

Day Trip - Hockley Woods, Essex
This was a day trip to this beautiful ancient woodland, which is home to some very interesting wildlife, both flora and fauna. The guide was excellent with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things wild. It was the perfect day to see the Heath Fritiliaries, one of the rarest butterflies in the country, plus many other bugs and insects.

Naturetrek stole a march on the other wildlife travel companies by introducing these one day tours, which have proven to be very successful. They are the premier tour company in the field.

Wonderful Whixall Moss
On a lovely warm sunny day we learned so much about the special wildlife that lives on Whixall Moss. We saw plenty of damselflies, chasers, darters, demoiselles and dragonflies as well as raft spiders, one with an egg sac. We discovered the unusual plants that live in the wet conditions too. Our walk was accompanied by the song of whitethroats and the call of reed warblers, and we had some excellent views of curlews and eventually a hobby.

Naturetrek has adapted to the restrictions of COVID-19 by putting on excellent day trips to nature reserves and other sites in the UK, as well as online evenings outlining tour highlights from around the world as well as virtual tours.

Fantastic Stone Curlew walk
Doing the Stone Curlews in Hampshire walk, getting brilliant views of them, we saw amazing and iconic wildlife in a brilliant and beautiful estate undergoing a promising and exciting rewilding project and steeped in regal history. We saw other fantastic species including so many Red Kites, Hares and Pyramidal orchids. The tour was organised so well and was very friendly, welcoming and easy to be involved with. Keith Betton's expert knowledge and the hospitality was brilliant and he so ably and patiently guided us all to see the Stone Curlews very well and as much flora and fauna as possible on the walk. With the sitting by the pond too for coffee/tea and biscuits and lunch was ideal on a very sunny and hot day it was such an enjoyable day I was so impressed with it. We met some varied, fascinating and lovely people all together today having so many great chats about wildlife topics and others. The tour also considered the Covid-world so well to be able to do it safely.

Naturetrek made the tour so easy to access and enjoy, giving out clear and in depth information to be able to easily find the site. There were strong considerations for the Covid-world too which was important.

Northumberland Dawn Chorus
A wonderful day out. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about all the birds we heard and saw, and also about the local area. I live in Northumberland but didn't know about any of this beautiful woodland.

Kept us informed and tailored the day to fit around our hotel booking (fixed things so that we were able to get back for breakfast).

Sunny what sun
we travelled in a mini bus to various sites in Pembrokeshire looking at the wildlife. Fog prevented us from visiting the islands off the coast but our resourceful leaders found other interesting sites to visit where the weather wasn't so bad and there were other things to see'

they are always helpful when there are problems. In my case lack of fitness through isolation during the pandemic.

Stone Curlews
Keith Betton was very interesting and informative throughout but the visit as a whole was rather disappointing. A couple of the group saw two Stone Curlews but most of the group saw just one from a range of 250yds with some difficulty. The leaflet spoke about viewing from 100yds but this was simply not feasible. At this range some photography would have been just about feasible but at 250 yds it is unrealistic and I would not have carried heavy ...

Keith Betton was interesting and informative throughout.
We have to admit that this day trip is not suitable for photographers wishing to obtain good images of Stone Curlews, as they are generally too far away (100 yards+). It is a lovely day out for naturalists and birdwatchers who enjoy the chance to see a bird that few people in the UK ever observe, as other reviewers on here have testified.

Well planned and well led
This was a day trip to find orchids in the afternoon and nightjars in the evening. The leader was friendly, inclusive, knowledgeable and facilitated the group with sensitivity. A lovely relaxing day with all expectations more than met.

Guided walk in the New Forest
Saw interesting if unsoectacular birds (woodlark, tree sparrow). Bullfinch and Redstart added colour. Firecrest was a bonus. Dartford warblers were elusive, as were raptors. Other animals seen were fallow and roe deer, mating lizards, a green tiger beetle, and broad-bodied chasers. In short, an enjoyable and instructive walk in a varied landscape.
