A fantastic day in a beautiful area.
I spent the day with fellow nature lovers led by Dr. Chris Gibson exploring the Colne Estuary. The tour leader has a superlative knowledge in so many fields, birds, flowers, butterflies, moths, galls, geology and history. He has the ability to awaken interest and suggest how it can be developed.

A wonderful day of learning.
I spent the day with the tour led by Brian Small whose knowledge is incomparable. He has the enviable ability to cater for the needs of all the customers, extending the understanding of those who are experienced bird -watchers whilst, creating confidence in those who are novices.

Fantastic day trip learning about wildflowers on the Sussex Downs
We went on Nature Trek's "Wildflowers of the South Downs National Park" day trip on Aug 20th, and it was a wonderful day. Our guide Paul was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I am a complete beginner, but felt comfortable asking him to remind me of the same plants' name repeatedly (sorry Paul). He took us on a really enjoyable walk and gave us a lot of insight into the area and the wild flowers we saw. He was very responsive to the ...

I am a complete beginner, but felt comfortable asking him to remind me of the same plants' name repeatedly (sorry Paul). He took us on a really enjoyable walk and gave us a lot of insight into the area and the wild flowers we saw. He was very responsive to the interests of our small, friendly group, and so we also learned about butterflies and moths along the way. It's really got us started with wildflower identification, and we're looking forward to more trips with Nature Trek.

This was our first Nature Trek event, but it was very well organised and friendly. From the website, Nature Trek offer a wide range of events and holidays, and I'd recommend them to anyone who is interested https://www.naturetrek.co.uk/

Lovely beaver sightings
A great evening trip. Matt is so knowledgeable about the beavers so was able to find them, give us great views and answer all our questions.

Chris was a cheerful guide and walk leader who has extensive local knowledge of the buildings and history of Wivenhoe as well as the botany, geology, fungi, butterflies and birds of the area. He showed us estuarine birds, and pointed out several very rare and unusual plants and explained how the agriculture and gravel extraction activities had been managed to re-wild areas after commercial activities. The 10 km (or thereabouts) walk started in Wivenhoe, went Eastwards along the sea wall on the River Colne, then inland along a ridge known as the 'Essex Alps' to Cockaynes Wood nature reserve, then back through Wivenhoe and ended after a visit to the wild flowers and plants along the edge of the King George V playing field.

This was a day trip organised by Naturetrek as one of their new range of (post-pandemic) day trips and short holidays focusing on understanding the wildlife and plants/fungi within Britain.

Day Trip to Martin Down in Hampshire
Excellent day with 19 butterfly and 21 bird species seen as well as an abundance of botany. Well organised as usual, excellent tour leader, Tom Brereton and the weather was ideal. I know Martin Down from previous visits but it was so much better to spend a day with others and share our interest and expertise.

I have now done five of Naturetrek's day trips and all have been excellent, well organised, knowledgeable tour leaders and interesting venues. Communication from Naturetrek both before and after the trips has been first class and I would highly recommend Naturetreks programme of day trips.

Received details without problems. Easy online booking. Would've liked more details regarding the boat and availability of toilets.

A great wildlife day in Devon
Hugely knowledgable guide in Mike Langman. Variety with the boat trip then Berry Head giving wider opportunities for more species. Great for seabirds, porpoise, dolphins, seals, eels, butterflies & moths as well as plants. A great day.
