One of Naturetrek's day trips to the nature reserve at Rutland water, a superb bird watching location. The guiding was first class, knowledgeable, informative, friendly and hospitable. 75 bird species in one day.

Typical of Naturetrek to come up with the brilliant idea of a series of days out all over the UK to wildlife locations with excellent guides. And all within the covid rules.

The organisation represented through its staff were professional & helpful.

A very good guide provided a stream of info about the area we were in (north Norfolk), birds, trees and other wildlife.

A day trip to a coupe of local nature reserves for five socially-distanced people plus a guide. The first reserve had thousands of Snake's-head Fritillaries at their peak, plus quite a few other flowers, birds and butterflies. The trip to the second reserve was adapted as the meadow plants were very late this year, but our guide knows the area so well that we spent more time in the woodland instead and saw lots of woodland flowers and saw and heard more birds and insects, still finishing on time/

The idea of day trips during these Covid restrictions is brilliant. There's a good range to choose from, all over the country. They are clearly described and easy to book - and excellent value. All of the tour leaders we've had are at the top of their game - not only are they expert naturalists, but they are well organised, know the area, and are very good interacting with the guests.

A terrific birdwatching experience

Completely in tune with the preferences of birdwatchers

We spent the day in the company of export leaders and explored the reserve around Rutland Water. The number of birds seen was remarkable for a short outing and we also learnt much about the various bird songs too. The tour leader could not have been more helpful and informative and we learnt such a lot as well as having a wonderful time on the reserve.

The day trip was split across 2 sites, the first of which involved traversing around one of the larger pools of RSPB Fen Drayton. The day was run at a suitable pace to optimise wildlife sightings whilst allowing time to rest and take in the scenery.

Our guide was knowledgeable and particularly helpful at picking out the bird song of specific species. He was also very good at picking at interesting species from a distance.
