A wonderful day's birdwatching at Aldeburgh

It was a well-planned day trip, birdwarching in two areas around Aldeburgh. We saw many different species and were able to have close-up views through the leader's scope.

We were impressed with Naturetrek and especially with our leader for the day, Brian Small. He has tremendous knowledge and is a superb spotter and identifier.

Wonderful array of migratory birds enjoyed in warm spring Spanish sunshine

This was mostly a bird watching holiday with one day spent looking for the Iberian Lynx in the Coto Donana national park. Our base in the town of El Rocio was amazing- the hotel overlooked a wonderful lake full of birds. The town itself was like something out of the wild west - no tarmac roads, horse drawn carriages and horses out numbered the cars. Lovely and quiet during the week days that we spent there, apparently very busy at the weekends.

We have used Naturetrek regularly over the past few years, Nothing is too much trouble, email queries are answered within the day. Their tour leaders are really knowledgeable and the trips very well organised due to years of experience in the field.

Very well organised, knowledgeable guides and thoroughly enjoyable

I travelled to the Coto Donana, Spain, on a birdwatching holiday. Days were well planned and the guides were very knowledgeable about the area and the birdlife.

Communication before and after the trip has been great and I would thoroughly recommend the trip and Naturetrek in general. When I had cause to ring the office with a query, the staff I spoke to were very pleasant and clearly knew their stuff.

Minsmere RSPB Reserve Daywalk

Lead by Brian Small this was a fascinating day. Thanks to Brian’s amazing knowledge of birdsongs & bird behaviour we saw over 70 species, including flocks of Lapwings & even a Lesser Yellowlegs, & gathered a huge amount of information about the birds. Brian turned a cool February day into such a fascinating experience that the weather became irrelevant!

An excellent day birdwatching with an excellent guide from NatureTrek

First visit to RSPB Minsmere. Our guide for the day was Brian Small. We had an excellent day of birdwatching, both in terms of volume and variety. Brian was an excellent guide. He pitched the tour at exactly the right level for the tour group of 7. Not only was he extremely pleasant to spend the day with, he was excellent at describing and mimicking bird sounds, making it easier to try and remember some of the bird calls.

Organised by NatureTrek this is one of several day trips birdwatching with NatureTrek. They are always very well organised, excellent days out with excellent guides. They have been wonderful to do during the last couple of years. They are extremely good at keeping you up to date with opportunities and helping to fill the “travel void” which many of us have felt over the last couple of years.

Wildlife Adventure.

Our trip to Tanzania was excellent. Everyday was full of birds and mammals. Our best sighting was two serval's. Although we have been to Africa several times, we had never seen these before. The lodges were excellent especially the 'tented camps' in the bush. Hearing lions roaring at night and 'something' grazing outside your tent at night adds to the adventure. The local people were very welcoming. and our local guide was very knowledgeable...

A wonderful birding day out at Rutland Water with Naturetrek

We booked this day tour along with two friends, all birding enthusiasts. Our guide for the day was Tim Appleton who was an original designer of the Rutland wetlands. His knowledge was extensive of course and he took us to a variety of sites and hides to spot various bird species. We had wonderful views of (for example to name a few) smew, goldeneye, Great Northern Diver, Slavonian grebe, sparrowhawk plus a peregrine falcon enjoying a long bath! ...

We had wonderful views of (for example to name a few) smew, goldeneye, Great Northern Diver, Slavonian grebe, sparrowhawk plus a peregrine falcon enjoying a long bath! Tim couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring everyone understood the birds' behaviours and although we all had binoculars not everyone had scopes, so Tim encouraged the group to use his personal scope to get those lovely close ups of the birds. The group members all brought packed lunches and enjoyed a relaxed lunch break with Tim halfway through the day.

We have previously been on another day tour plus a weekend break (both in Norfolk) with Naturetrek and have always found them to have extremely knowledgeable and helpful guides and administrative staff, an easy to navigate web site plus an straightforward booking system. We have now booked another day tour to Yorkshire with friends and are looking into booking a longer holiday with Naturetrek, perhaps outside the UK.
