Bird watching on Somerset Levels

Professional and knowledgeable

This was the second time of taking this Spain trip, two centre holiday, in search of Lynx. Success on this occasion with 3 sightings, all very brief. Accommodation and food was very authentic.

Naturetrek, are an excellent company with a personal touch. Always quick to respond, are very detailed in information and Itinerary. Always feel safe in their hands and especially during these uncertain times of Covid,

4 days of exploring the cliffs, woodlands and coastal regions on foot, and by boat, in search of birds and mammals. We were a small group of 8 led by Mike Langman, tour leader and Naturalist. Mike is very knowledgeable on both birds and mammals and is also very knowledgeable on the history and geography of the region which made for a very informative and successful 4 days. 110 species of birds seen as well as dolphins, porpoises and seals.

This is my first experience with Naturetrek. I found them to be efficient with their paperwork and very clear as to what was being offered. Queries were quickly dealt with. They also seem to recognise that an interest in nature does not necessarily mean that accommodation has to be spartan and the food simple. A comfortable room, a bath or shower and a good meal at the end of a whole day spent outside is what is needed and what was provided.

Visit to Jokkamokk in Northern Sweden. Very fortunate to have great views of Northern Lights. Evening meal with Sami - reindeer herder and talk about their history and looking after the reindeer. Dog sledding through snowy forest. Winter scenery with lunches taken outside round open fire.

I have travelled with Naturetrek on a number of occasions. They always provide good pre departure information. Use excellent local guides. Varied itinerary provided.

One week bird watching from Mandina Lodge. Naturetrek as usual provided a superb experience. Guiding was excellent, lodge very pleasant and all staff accommodating. Food provision also very good.

Could not be happier with the service provided by Naturetrek.

A three day birdwatching break on the Somerset Levels in winter may not be everyone's idea of a holiday. But not only did we have fine weather, our two guides were well informed and great fun. The group gelled well and we enjoyed a fine hotel and good food. As ever, Naturetrek had organised everything very well.

The guides were very helpful trying to ensure that all the party managed to see every possible sighting. The picnics were of a very good quality. The birdlife was spectacular and the weather was very good. One of the guides also took us through the process of the health form that needed to be filled in prior to leaving.

The whole tour and venues were well selected and the staff were also very helpful in filling out all the paperwork needed to holiday in a foreign country.

the Naturetrek holiday to Andalusia promised lynx, but I didn't really expect to see any. However - we did! Three sightings, plus two near misses - as well as ibex yards away from our group, ignoring us while they mock-sparred, mouflon, eagles, vultures, kingfishers - catching fish! and many other birds like the extraordinary stone curlews and black shouldered kites I had only ever seen in photographs. Add to that great travel companions, eager guides, unusual and welcoming accommodation, first class food and good weather - and we had the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable week.

Naturetrek. I've used them four times and have three more trips booked with them, into 2023. That says it all?

This was a one-day guided tour of the Arun Valley region, focusing on birds in the varied terrain, January 2022. We saw a very wide range of birds and our guide was engaging and highly knowledgeable.

Always quick to communicate and provide all necessary information. They use extremely experienced and interesting guides who have passion for their subject.

A great introduction to these two areas and their wildlife, in particular the bird life. Excellent opportunities to see waterfowl, waders, the starling murmuration, species on my 'wish list' such as hawfinch, crossbill, crane and the wild boar. Unexpected highlights: a curfew of 40+ curlew, 200+ brambling and a couple of glossy ibis.

All aspects from enquiry through to delivery were professionally managed and seamless. All enquiries were dealt with swiftly and efficiently. The six night trip (two destinations and two hotels) was well organised and meant there was nothing for us to do but enjoy the experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable and personable.
