Both the accounting and the trip went smoothly. Exactly what you expect from a holiday.

We have walked the Hadrianwall. Started in Newcastle (what we believe is the best choice because it is more beautiful) and ended in Bowness on Solway. We walked 10 days which for us was a nice daily kilometers. Of course it is holiday also.

Both the accounting and the trip went smoothly. Exactly what you expect from a holiday. The B&B's were all of good quality. The baggage was always on the spot and the guidebook and other descriptions were of very good quality. The walk itself is a very pleasant, partly because you walk past something historic. Definitely recommended for average walker.

St Cuthberts Way - a beautiful walk, well organised by Mickledore Travel

We walked the 66 miles of the St Cuthberts Way in 5 days. This was a beautiful walk from Melrose, on the Scottish borders to Lindisfarne. Very varied, with pretty river side walks, and more dramatic scenery through the Cheviot hills, culminating in the magnificent St Cuthberts cave, then spectacular views towards Lindisfarne, the Farne islands and Bamburgh castle. We met some lovely, friendly locals in the pubs along the way, and several interesting and friendly fellow walkers, including a couple of wandering minstrels who sang and played for their beer and lodgings every night.

Mickledore Travel organised our accommodation, which was always great and the bag transfers, which all went smoothly. They also provided a very useful and well thought out information pack I would certainly use them again for a similar vacation, and thought they were both helpful and good value for money.

A pleasant trek over dales and moors

I took Mickledore's advice and chose Skipton and Hawes for additional 'rest'days. Both towns offer interesting tourist attractions and the decision was justified. In particular,I enjoyed visiting Gayle Mill at Hawes. The scenery in Wharfedale and Wensleydale is beautiful and in places the walk is very tranquil. This in contrast to the bleak grouse moors between Buckden and Askrigg. Along the way there are immaculate stone built villages.

An Ideal Introduction to National Trails Walking

This was my first walking holiday using a tour operator to make all the arrangements. It was an amazing walk from start to finish blessed by exceptionally good weather for the time of year. The scenery was beautiful with delightful and interesting villages along the way to discover and explore. I'm ready for more. Well done the National Parks Authority for ample signage!

The accommodation in a variety of guest houses, country inns and farm house bed and breakfast establishments were fabulous too. It was so good to have a warm welcome, comfortable room and tasty breakfast to look forward to after a long day hitting the trails. We are looking forward to continuing our Cleveland Way coastal section later this week and The West Highland Way next summer. We have hiked with other companies but have returned to Mickledore as they are the best due to their attention to detail and personal service.

We hiked the trails with Mickledore. They were first class with their organisation and attention to detail. The information pack was excellent as were the maps and detailed instructions for us to follow. It was so easy to find each of our bed and breakfast establishments which was great too. We highly recommend Mickledore to friends and family.

Enlightening

Hadrian's Wall Path perfectly combines cultural heritage with active holidays. The path is well documented, the views are stunning, the museums are worth your while, the B&B's are great, and the local populace is very kind and helpful. Take your time when walking along Hadrian's Wall Path; it has so much to offer! I can only conclude that this holiday was a true eye-opener!

This was my very first walking holiday. I was pleasantly surprised how well the holiday was arranged. At first we tried to arrange our own accommodation for this holiday. However once we found out about Mickledore, we decided to arrange our holiday with their help. Before long we received mail that we were good to go and all B&B's, luggage service, and packed lunches were taken care of. At no moment have I doubted that Mickledore couldn't deliver. Top notch!

Fantastic Walking Holidays with Mickledore

We walked along Hadrian's Wall, and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was extremely well planned with great attention to all details, and the accomodation was absolutely fine both as regards the rooms and the hosts, who were friendly and interested in talking and explaining about the areas where they lived. We therefore recommend Mickledore highly and look forward to doing another of their walks. The taxi which Mickledore had booked to take us from our last accomodation and to the airport in Newcastle turned out to be very helpful and flexible, which meant that we ´were able to spend some hours in Carlisle while he took care of our luggage. We concluded that the people who work for Mickledore are all very kind and really pay attention to individual needs.

Rating for tour operator:

The planning was excellent. The information we received before the walk was very informative and made us able to prepare properly for the walk. The map and the guidebook were of very high standard. Besides, we got a list of eating places in all the areas we passed through as well as a timetable for the busses in case we got tired of walking. Finally, we appreciated being able to get into contact with Mickledore at any time if we needed help.

Well organised and flawless arrangements

It was certainly the best of Hadrians Wall. B and B's were all excellent as well as luggage transfers and taxi back to our car. Paperwork was also excellent. Can find no faults.

An enjoyable, yet challenging, trek along Hadrian's Wall

We're not hikers, yet we thought for a change we'd do something different and walk the best part of Hadrian's Wall. We're not hikers, yet we thought for a change we'd do something different and walk the best part of Hadrian's Wall. The Wall was beautiful and breathtaking in parts (particularly at its highest point), rugged and tough in others, but rarely mundane. There always seemed to be two choices on the more difficult parts of the trail; a choice of demanding or less so. We pushed ourselves to the limits and always took the hard way, even though none of us are particularly fit. The scenery is interspersed with broken forts, forestry, farmhouses and vast lakes. We were even greeted by a low-flying rescue helicopter, passing no more than about 50ft away from us, waving happily as we did back. The fellow travellers we passed nodded a greeting with a smile, but pretty much we were alone for the majority of our hike. We stayed in three bed & breakfasts and one inn on the route. All were friendly, welcoming and catered to our needs. All had wifi (which is pretty essential in that part of the world), as did the country pubs we stopped in, all provided breakfast, daily packed-lunches, a TV in every room, plus soap, shower gel, towels and everything else you do not need to burden yourself with. A great adventure, which I'd recommend.

I found Mickeldore's staff friendly and helpful from the moment I first enquired about our trip. They kept me regularly updated throughout the pre-holiday build up, even allowing me to jiggle our numbers and sleeping arrangements at short notice. The directions given, and the map supplied, were easy to follow. The courier service was first-rate and completely hassle-free. Our bags unfailingly arrived before we did, from place to place. The bed & breakfasts all seemed to be carefully chosen to provide the best welcome and a refreshing night's sleep. The overflow of information Mickledore supplied was spot on, even suggesting the inns and pubs that needed calling ahead to reserve a table. All phone numbers were supplied of course. They seem an extremely professional outfit, and I will definitely be using them again on my next hike, wherever it may be.
