A fantastic walk along the Dingle Way

We did the walk in eight days. All of the information provided by Mickledore was accurate and very helpful. The accommodations were lovely and the baggage transport was on time.

This is the sixth time that I have used Mickledore Travel, the first time was in 2006 walking the Wainwright Coast to Coast. Mickledore has always been professional, responsive and helpful. Last year we needed to make some changes to our trip and they were more than willing to work with us to manage the change.

This is our fifth holiday with Mickeldore and we would highly recommend using them. The service is faultless from the start of choosing somewhere to finishing the walking holiday. The information provided is spot on and really useful and the accommodation is always of an excellent quality. The best thing is the personal touch received from Mickeldore.

A true adventure

It was a family trip that combined: quality time together, a sense of adventure, history, culture, isolation from the city, and spectacular scenery. It was such a wonderful experience to have a daily challenge of our walk and to get to our accommodation for good food and lots of good discussion about our day. It was so well organised that we had no stress and could just enjoy the journey.

Superb South Downs Way walking holiday!

This was our 3rd walking holiday with Mickledore and they are brilliant. Efficient, friendly and responsive. They book some great accommodation, provide everything we need for the route and look after our bags. We left a small jewellery bag behind at one hotel and they were straight onto it, arranging for its safe recovery. Highly recommend them!

Amazing. They always seem to know everything about my holiday, able to respond to any queries instantly. They're so friendly. Worth chatting to beforehand if you are unsure where to go too. We are about to book our 4th holiday with them!

The Perfect Walking Holiday Experience

We had a wonderful holiday walking the Hadrian's Wall Path and staying in pre-arranged B&Bs along the way, The complete walk goes from Tynemouth to Solway on Bowness, and although there is not evidence of the wall all along this path, it's still a lovely, fairly undemanding walk. The most demanding days are between Chollerford and Gilsland, with lots of ups and downs, but for the most part you are next to the wall with amazing views and spectacular ...

We have walked the Hadrian's Wall Path with Mickledore twice - once in each direction. They take all the hard work out of planning and booking accommodation, transporting our luggage from place to place, and organising breakfasts and packed lunches. All we had to do was organise an evening meal and enjoy our walk ... and it all works like a dream! We are already looking at next year's walk to somewhere different; the only difficulty is choosing where, since the choice of destinations is huge!

Cotswold Way North

We walked from Chipping Camden to Painswick over 5 days, roughly 50 miles. Mickledore handled to bookings and transfer of luggage. We had a wonderful experience and Mickledore was most responsive to our needs. There was plenty of time to explore many of the historic sites as the walk went adjacent to them or just a short distance off the Way

Rating for tour operator:

Mickledore is an excellent operator for walking vacations. Our lodgings varied from B+B's, to Pubs/Inns to a Hotel, all quite nice and suitable. We booked many meals in advance but had no problems getting seating when we did not have reservations. The staff at the Inns and the B+B owners were quite helpful, even providing transport short distances when taxis not available.

Touring Roman Ruins along the Hadrian's Wall Path

After a stay-over in Tynemouth my wife and I walked from the Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway over the course of eight days. We very much enjoyed our 'self-guided tour,' being able to walk at our own pace and being able to stop to see the ruins and museums of the Corbridge Roman Town, Chester's Roman Fort, the town of Vindolana, and the Roman Army Museum as well as the many milecastles and turrets to name a few. The farther one walks along this path the more one is impressed by the scale and magnitude of the wall. It is simply amazing. Each day offers unique scenery and views: rivers, long views of the undulating hills of Northumberland, Sycamore Gap, the view to the north from the upper edge of steep hills (almost cliffs) along with the many sheep, goats and herds of cows.

Rating for tour operator:

Mickledore was very responsive to our initial inquiry which set them apart from other agencies. Even though the request was inside of the eight week window, Mickledore was able to set up an itinerary where the distances between B&B accommodations allowed us to pause to see the sites and vistas or have a cup of tea in the afternoon. The B&B Operators also took our Vegan Diet into consideration for both breakfasts and lunches. Since Mickledore did all of the planning, we were allowed to just relax and enjoy ourselves.

Relaxing on the Great Glen Way

Mickledore recommended the Great Glen Way, walking South West to North East from Fort William to Inverness, This walk starts out along the river and canal that connects the lochs together so is relatively flat. The middle section provides some elevation allowing for excellent long views across the Scottish highlands and up and down the lochs. Overall, this walk is in the Easy to Moderate range. We selected Mickledore because of the timeliness of their initial response to our inquiry. The team at Mickledore was responsive, understanding and provided a contact who could help with train tickets and other transportation. The pamphlet, guide book and map provided by Mickedore for the Great Glen Way provided excellent directions and information about the region. Mickledore made sure that our self-guided holiday was flawless.
