Everything went to plan no problems very well organised, the packed lunches however left a lot to be desired so would organise our own on the next walk. Maps and instructions booklets all provided in simple format very easy to follow and understand.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 10 Oct 2017:

Thanks for sending us your holiday comments. I am sorry to hear that the packed lunches your received were not as expected. Most accommodations supply a packed lunch with plenty to keep a walker going throughout the day. It is good to hear that overall your holiday was enjoyable and we look forward to arranging another walking holiday for you to complete the coastal path.

Northumbria Coastal Path

I walked 102 miles from Cresswell to Berwick uoon Tweed in 6 days in mid-September 2017. The beaches and coastal scenery were fabulous, almost deserted at times, and the weather although not warm was sunny, dry and windy for most of the time. The highlights were the walks were: to and around Holy Island, and walking the beaches near Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh castles.

Mickledore are well organised and responsive, and they supply good quality guides and maps of the trail before the holiday. The accommodation was all of a very high standard, in terms of the rooms, facilities, food provided and the hosts. I also had the impression I was allocated the superior room purely because I was a Mickledore customer, even though I was a solo traveler.

Thanks for the lovely comments about your walk and the arrangements we made for your holiday. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your trip and we hope to be arrange another walk for you in the future.

To the team at Mickledore, Please can I thank you all for the amazing walking Holiday that Mr Harrison and I had on the C2C walk Firstly the information pack that we received prior to the start date of the 5th July was very comprehensive, with everything anyone should need before, during and after the holiday. The organisation of this trip far outweighed our expectations, all of the accommodations were very welcoming , clean , comfortable and helpful from the minute we arrived to the time we set off on our next day's walk Reasons for downgrades is not due to any concerns we had it's is just that the high standards of some of the B&B's Frith Lodge & Langstrath Arms were of a particularly high standard The Pack ups were very good from all of the places that we stopped at and the meals very good and a lot of thought gone into what walkers required with plenty of choice , nutritious & reasonably priced. Our Luggage was collected every morning and on arrival at our destination was left in a safe location

We had no reason to have any complaints about anything during our 11 days walking and stopping at reservations made by Mickledore All you need to do is be prepared for a challenge walk, turn up and start walking from the west Coast to the east coast and enjoy the experience Excellent service from the team at Mickledore

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 06 Oct 2017:

We put a lot of effort into finding the best accommodations and it's great that you found them to be so welcoming and helpful during your walk. When you stay somewhere that you find exceptional it can really stand out and it's lovely that two of our accommodations were exceptional for you. Thanks for your great review.

Holiday Rating:

Very well organised, nice accomodation througout, nice, uncomplicated contact with Mickledore Walking.

Walking (Hadrian's Wall Highlights) and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was very well organised in advance and we were able to do this interesting walk with just our day packs. This meant we could concentrate on enjoying the great countryside and POIs on the way.

This was our first holiday with Mickledore Walking (Hadrian's Wall Highlights) and we enjoyed it very much. Everything was very well organised in advance and we were able to do this interesting walk with just our day packs. The pickup service worked very well and we stayed in nice B & Bs and guesthouses throughout. We had chosen to walk the entire length, but to make it enjoyable decided to go for 9 days of walking. All the accomodation, baggage transfers each day and odd taxi pickups went according to plan. It gave us a memorable holiday and the bonus that Mickledore had ensured that our dog (red setter) was welcomed at all our stops, something I think that would have been impossible or at least very difficult it we had tried to book it ourselves. The daily mileage was well planned so we had plenty of time to enjoy the museums and scenery in the middle where the wall and countryside is most attractive. We were surprised by the number of people walking the wall, the most we have encountered on any route we've done, so BandB's must be at a premium in the height of the season. The map information supplied by Mickledore was great, especially a small book by Trailblazer whose annotated route drawings were so accurate they removed the need for any other map. Though to be fair to the Hadrian's Wall ranger service the wall is extremely well signed. Certainly extremely happy with Mickledore and would use them again without a doubt.

Rating for tour operator:

Mickledore responded quickly and efficiently to all the enquiries we had. Their planning was perfect, all fell into place and so gave us a really relaxing time. We did change some planned pick ups to be earlier and this was put in place again with no problems. All the staff and the places they booked were excellent.

walking holiday with Mickledore Travel

Lovely holiday - bed and breakfast venues were located in beautiful surroundings and a good standard of accommodation. The walks were delightful, despite the wet weather. I would certainly book another holiday in the future.

Holiday September 12th to 20th Our holiday with Mickledore walking the Northumberland coastal path was the first time we have been on a holiday like this. The organisation before we went was very detailed and the resources sent, book and maps, very comprehensive. We enjoyed the “unknown” of what our accommodation was like each night as we had deliberately not looked them up on-line beforehand. We enjoyed the reading of the next day’s walk each night giving ourselves a refresher over the very tasty and filling breakfasts we had at every stop. Of course we rated our accommodation, Fenham farm was outstanding and we loved the house at Warkworth but that does not mean the other places were unacceptable but someone has to win! We were surprised that at times the path seemed so unused and we were exploring un-walked territory. This was mainly where the official path went inland, across fields and woods so maybe this part was not so popular. The scenery along this route is stunning, the sandy beaches stretch for miles and we were lucky enough to see them with sunshine and blue skies and blue sea. We were proud of our walking achievements each day and we would definitely consider another walking holiday. Ruth and Tony Dillon

Walking the WHW was a great experience. With beautiful scenery, friendly people from around the world, excellent accommodation and food along the route, who needs to go abroad for a memorable holiday?

Mickledore are first class. The only thing they can't fix is the weather and even that was better than it might have been.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 29 Sep 2017:

You are absolutely right that you do not need to leave the UK to have a fabulous holiday, the West Highland Way is a spectacular route! We do our best with the weather but sometimes it just won't comply! We hope to welcome you back very soon.
