A truly wonderful visit to Scotland.

My friend and I were looking for a tour that would give us a taste of Scotland while also providing time to relax and unwind from a very stressful year. McKinlay Kidd designed the perfect tour for us. We visited Edinburgh, Pitlochry, Inverness, Oban, and a few other places in between. It was wonderful!

McKinlay Kidd listened to what we wanted and designed the tour to meet these needs. They provided all of the documentation we needed from detailed directions to what to do when in the different settings along with a little history on the different B&Bs we stayed in. The best part is that they listened to us when designing the tour.

Wild Atlantic Way

Great holiday touring part of the Wild Atlantic Way from Cork to Connemara. We were blessed with beautiful weather for most of the trip - had it been pouring with rain we might not have enjoyed the trip so much and not seen the breathtaking views. Great accommodation, friendly people and good food. Would certainly go again.

All the arrangements ran smoothly and all our questions and queries were answered quickly beforehand. Great places to stay and recommendations of where to eat, what to see etc. I enjoyed the fact that all the accommodation was arranged and booked to fit in with our dates and we didnt have to juggle everything around ourselves. Would certainly book with them again

Well planned itinerary around the beautiful Western isles

We wanted to travel the whole length of the Western Isles and this holiday allowed us to spend time on all the major islands. The roads are wonderfully quiet and the scenery is beautiful, never far from the sea. There is so much space for wandering both inland and beside the coast. The wildlife sightings were great as well from otters to eagles. You need to be prepared for all sorts of weather and take the midge repellent but the peace and tranquility make it all worthwhile. All the people we met were friendly and helpful especially as I forgot to pack my husband any socks at all and trying to find some to buy was quite a challenge!

McKinnlay Kidd planned a great holiday exactly around the specifications we gave them. Each detail was well organised -car; accommodation; ferries and flights with lots of information to help us before and whilst we were travelling.

Ten day tour of Scotland by train. Six locations.

The transitions from Glasgow to Edinburgh via Skye and Inverness were absolutely faultless. Furthermore, each location was carefully picked not just for its view or the room, which were tip top, but for the friendliness and capability of the staff therein. There is simply nothing to dislike about this holiday, transport, food, hotel and local attractions have been honed precisely and I would have no hesitation in recommending this sort of tour, which is tailored to the customers preferences. We will certainly be returning as this first ever experience of Scotland has been fantastic, due to the skilful organising of McKinlay Kidd and their team.

Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay soon weighed up the fact that we had only ten days to get an overall feel of the Highlands and we got exactly that. The locations ranged from small villages to major cities all with their individual advantages. I happened to mention a liking of steam engines and hence the trip encompassed the tremendous Jacobite run, a real bonus in itself. This typified the attention given to the customers individual interests.

A rewarding short trip to Orkney

We spent three days on the Orkney mainland, We drove to John O'Groats and caught the ferry from Gills Bay for the one-hour sailing to St Margaret's Hope on South Ronaldsay. This gave us the chance to see the Churchill Barriers on the way to Kirkwall, where we were staying for three nights. The highlight of our stay was the visit to the World Heritage Site of the western mainland, including Maes Howe, the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae. ...

If you have never been, this taster trip is an ideal introduction.

Rating for tour operator:

Our trip was an "Orkney taster" organised by McKinlay Kidd Ltd. This included Heritage Explorer passes - essential for entry to Maes Howe and Skara Brae - but most sights are free. The tour operator was responsive to our requirements and provided all the information necessary for the trip, including a tour itinerary and guidance on what to do and see. We will use McKinlay Kidd again.

Journey through Western Isles by Big D, 9 Jul 2017

A great trip through the Outer Hebrides, in wild and stunning scenery, learning something of their history and way of life of the people.

Spent 10 nights in the Outer Hebrides, starting in Castlebay, Barra, and staying 2 nights on each "island", finishing up in Lewis and returning to mainland at Ullapool. We'd started our holiday in Oban where we drove on to the ferry to Castlebay. All our ferries and accommodation (BandB) were included in the package from Kidd McKinlay. The arrangements worked superbly and the accommodation was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

The holiday was a good experience, but the weather could have been warmer. It was good to go back to the Killiecrankie Hotel after my visit to the Islands again, in Pitlochry.

The accommodation was excellent. It was very well put together and avoided a lot of the areas heavy with tourists, as well as introducing us to some beautiful areas of Scotland that we would not otherwise have thought to go.There was a glitch due to a problem with Scotrail which McKinlay Kidd fixed exceptionally quickly, for which we were thankful. We would happily organise another holiday with them.

Rating for tour operator:

Quick responses to emails. The holiday was well organised. We had a small glitch that was no fault of McKinlay Kidd which they quickly found an alternative for. Quality organisation.
