Rating for tour operator:

Rhiannon Finlay was super in our initial planning stages She was responsive & communicated promptly & clearly. Others who were also involved through the year & during our trip were just as helpful. They even rearrange & communicated a change in our ferry times, (due to the ferry operation, not of MK's doing).

Grand Tour of Scotland by Train is Grand

Everything was meticulously planned and executed by McKinlay Kidd for this tour. All we needed to do was show up and follow the itinerary. The hotels are all first rate and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We had no problems on our holiday, but were confident in McKinlay Kidd's ...

Exploring the Outer Hebrides

We had an excellent holiday arranged by McKinlay Kidd to the Western Isles starting in Barra and finishing in Stornoway. We were able to explore each of the islands in glorious weather - we were very lucky! The arrangements made for us worked well and we stayed in some lovely accommodation. A great experience..

"Incipit vita nova" ... And so a new life begins ...

Almost 6 weeks travelling on the outer islands using Oban as the launch pad. Brought my family's history to life ... Had the amazing fortune of great weather (only 3 days of rain) so able to thoroughly enjoy Iona, then the Outer Hebrides from Barra to Stornaway, and on out to Shetland the Orkney's before finishing off in Edinburgh. Ahead of the tourist traffic, loved the single-track driving/passing pauses and the civility this brought to the driving itself. Lovely tea shops along the way. Beautiful guest houses and hotels. SO very glad I embarked on this solo journey in the wake of my husband's death -- totally revitalizing and confidence building!

Rating for tour operator:

MKK put it altogether. Small glitches readily resolved. Hit 'the mark' in terms of accommodation, sites and timelines. Allowed me to focus on the wonderful sites and beauty the outer islands of Scotland have to offer.

A relaxing, informative, exciting tour of Scotland

The Grand Train Tour of Scotland gave me a well thought out, well organized tour of Scotland using mainly trains and Ferries for transportation. Each accommodation was unique and provided excellent service, gorgeous rooms and amenities, excellent food, and top of the line comfort. The side trips were fascinating and full of information presented by excellent guides. I can't imagine a better way to see Scotland!
