We had a wonderful trip in Scotland, planned for us by Linzi at McKinlay Kidd. She created a custom train tour for us, hitting everything on our wish list. Everything was wonderful, and when a huge storm had trains cancelled and power outages, the team at McKinlay Kidd was completely on top of everything, getting us rebooked before we even knew we needed that, and staying in excellent contact, making sure all was well. We are converts to this kind of travel, and would love to do it again. Thank you!

Easy to talk to and always available when something comes up. The people and places they use are well researched and you can tell. Everyone makes you feel at home and special. Haven’t ever been disappointed in the accommodations they book.

We spent 12 days in Outer Hebrides and really enjoyed it. The weather didn't spoil anything much, the accommodation amazing and the locals very friendly. Apart from delays for one ferry die to weather, everything went smoothly. Landing on the beach at Barra was a must-do activity and did not disappoint.

McKinlay Kidd were excellent from start to finish. No question was too simple and they responded very quickly to everything, especially when we were away and the ferry was dodgy.

We had a brief stay in Orkney last year, and needed more. McKinley Kidd put together a package of exactly what we were looking for; flights, accommodation and car hire.

Organised our trip quickly for a very reasonable price.

Flew into Cork and back from Dublin. Between the two we experienced the Wild Atlantic Way and stayed in some excellent hotels. Driving in a hired car was easy but some of the roads were quite twisty.

McKinlay Kidd listened to what we wanted, and used their experience to structure a holiday we really enjoyed. Good communication before we went, and we felt they were on hand if issues arose during the trip (but needless to say , none did!).

We took M-K’s Grand Tour of Scotland by Rail in July 2025. At first, we balked because of the price. But, as I tried to piece things together myself, it quickly became clear that there could well be some value in the McKinley-Kidd package. There was more than “some!” They listened to our priorities, our concerns, and our wants in a vacation. They worked within our maximum limits to provide us options we’d never considered. Our lodging at every stop was comfortable, clean and homey. Our hosts were delightful - whether a luxury hotel, or a country inn. Our excursions were fascinating! M-K arranged for our guides, who adapted the experiences to ensure we got to do what we prioritized! At one point, one of them said, “I know you didn’t put this on your list of priorities. But, we’re going right by, and it would be tragic to get home and tell people you missed it. Let’s pop by…and see what you think. We topped a short walking trail to encounter one of the most beautiful sights we saw the entire trip! When we show people that one photograph…everyone exclaims at the beauty of the place. He was right! We would regretted that. Every guide was like that: informative, helpful, and watched out for our best interest in their area. At one point, we missed a train connection. One phone call and M-K was on it! In 5 mins, they’d arranged a taxi ride for us to our next spot! And THAT guy was a hoot!! Anytime we needed them, M-K was there. We’ve now had four weeks to recover and reflect. We both agree. We’re going back, and we’ll likely use McKinley-Kidd again, and see what other customizations we can do to our tour! (They’ll work out any that you want to make!)
