Archaeology, Wildlife and Stunning Scenery - a trip to Scotland's northernmost Islands of Orkney and Shetland
What an amazing holiday, our interests in archaeology were more than satisfied when we travelled to Orkney and Shetland and back through history to 5000 years ago at Skara Brae, the Ness of Brodgar, forward in time to the bronze age settlements, then the Viking/Norse settlements on Shetland, early crofts and remote 16th Century castles. Hosted by knowledgeable and friendly guides and excellent quality accommodation, good food, wine and of course the whiskey... what more could we ask for!
Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd could not have been more helpful. All was efficiently organised and the suggested itinerary covered all that we wished to cover during this vacation and more, in addition we had personal recommendations for each of the locations where we were accommodated, introduced to some exceptional guides, and given free time to undertake our own explorations. At first glance of the itinerary the holiday looked a bit daunting, but not at all in the execution. Planning was just right and plenty of time to relax between excursions in very comfortable surroundings. Well done McKinlay Kidd.
Exceeded expectations!

Excellent Grand Tour of Scotland by Train
Wonderful B&B's, attentive hosts, excellent tours and prompt drivers to meet us at the train station. We enjoyed the scenery from the train, and our stays at the scenic villages. We also appreciated the written itinerary and helpful suggestions. McKinley Kidd was always prompt when we contacted them.

We Saw More of Scotland Than Some Scots Have Seen!
It was the dream holiday of a lifetime. We saw flora and fauna, met interesting people, stayed in different but equally wonderful places, and LEARNED so much about the history and land. We took away a strong sense of pride many had in their country broadly and their region specifically.

Rating for tour operator:McKinlay-Kidd made the trip smooth, detailed and worry-free. I would definitely use them again.
Trip around the SW coast of Ireland, 'The Wild Atlantfic Way'
The holiday was a car trip around the coast of Iteland from Cork to Dingle, taking in the Ring of Kerry and Ring of Beara. The holiday allowed us to travel to the furthest westerly points of all the peninsulas in the south West.

Rating for tour operator:The operator booked out ferry from Wales and all hotels, either 1-night or 2-night stays. We were supplied with a detailed itinerary and plenty.of notes about the various counties along the way. All hotels were a good standard, and the Irish people supplied warm welcomes throughout.
The Amazing Channel Islands
Car-free tour exploring the unique Channel Islands, Guernsey, Herm, Sake and Alderney.

Rating for tour operator:McKinlay - Kidd did their usual brilliant job of arranging the trip, accommodation, private tours, ferry and plane connection and easily accessible information on the islands. Always ready to provide speedy assistance.
Car free and Care free!
Excellent portal to portal trek, without any glitches that allowed us great views and perspectives of the Hebrides. Guides and taxi operators were very hospitable, sensitive to our needs, and gave us wonderful perspectives of local culture.

Rating for tour operator:Totally helpful and sensitive to our needs. Multiple phone conversations from the U.S. with them to answer questions and coordinate with our international flights. We met several other travelers who had the same feelings about McKinlay Kidd. Although we had not "shopped around", others we met conveyed McKinlay Kidd was very competitive on pricing.
Hebrides self-drive tour
Our route over almost two weeks was: Glasgow, Luss, Oban, Tobermory on Mull, Portree on Skye, Tarbet on Lewis and Harris, then returning through Inverness. In addition to the car, ferries and hotels, McKinlay Kidd also arranged an excellent wildlife tour on Mull, a boat day trip to Lunga and Staffa, and a morning yachting trip from Portree. Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd was very responsive and effective. Although we left it close to the high season for Hebrides' travel, they were able to secure all our preferred travel dates. Also, we had an "personal emergency" while on Skye and Lucy of McKinlay Kidd stayed in contact the whole time and developed a back-up plan in real time (the "emergency" was resolved, so we didn't use the back-up).
Excellent visit to Ireland
Most enjoyable and very well organised.

slowly up the west coast of Scotland
McKinlay Kidd created one awesome holiday going by train and tour persons. The landscape was so pretty it was like a post card. If you are looking for a travel team to work with you, they will ask for your wishes of places to see and then will put together a holiday that will please everyone in the group. If you find something will not work just let the team know they will come up with a different option.

Rating for tour operator:Linzi Gatman was great to work with on the holiday that was put together. We made some changes and from there put a down payment and several months later paid the balance. An app was sent via email where you could download the app to your phone and also load it onto your laptop or tablet. This provide up to date info on our trip.
