Slowly through the Outer Hebrides

Flew into Barra with the experience of landing on the beach, then travelling south to north by hire car. Over 12 nights stayed at 5 different locations across different islands which all have a different look and feel. All helped by unprecedented and unbelievably good weather. Great walking in a rugged landscape and good wildlife: Red Deer, Otter, Owls, Harriers and Eagles.

Good outline plan on their website attracted us to this holiday which was then tailored to our requirements and timing. Their knowledge of the area, selection of locations (and how much time to spend there) and accommodation allowed us to fully experience the Islands. Plenty of additional information on where to go, what to see and where to eat. Flights and ferries booked to meet our needs.

SCOTLAND

Wonderful time spent touring Scotland for six days. We were fortunate to visit Glasgow, Inverness, Isle of Skye, Jacobite Railway and Edinburg. Sightseeing was just delightful and the Scottish country side is stunning and quite unique !

Out tour operator was great ! Robert was quite personable and he assured that every traveler felt included. He was very attentive to the needs of others and he answered all historic questions pertaining to our itinerary. I believe that Robert has found his second calling. His voice is distinctive and he seems to enjoy surrounding himself with tourists from many destinations.

Exploring some of Scotland's isles

The car-free island-hopping itinerary allowed us to see and experience some of the Hebrides on our own. McKinlay Kidd created an itinerary that took care of the important details and allowed us the freedom to see and experience the isles on our own terms.

The staff at McKinlay Kidd was exceptionally timely and responsive as they put together the travel details (transportation and accommodations) to suit our interests. Changes and updates were communicated efficiently, even down to checking on dinner reservations after a long day of travel. Such personal attention was much appreciated!

Exceeded my expectations

I love trains and have never been to the UK and felt it was now or never. My trip was everything and more than I had hoped for. The support from McKinlay Kidd was reassuring as I was travelling on my own. I am a female in my late 70's and felt safe every step of the way. The accommodation and side trips were excellent. I just wanted to take it all in casually without any fuss and felt that all my side excursions ticked off all the boxes...

I just wanted to take it all in casually without any fuss and felt that all my side excursions ticked off all the boxes. I will probably never get back to the UK, but I felt that this trip fulfilled all my expectations.

Right from the start McKinley Kidd knew just what I wanted and recommended a tour that I felt comfortable with. They answered all my questions and reassured me every step of the way. They were very upfront about cost, payments, etc. Dealing with them online was effortless and everything thing ran smoothly. I ran into others who were on McKinley Kidd and they had nothing but great recommendations.

Small-group tour of Orkney and Scotland

It was amazing! Orkney and Shetland are beautiful places to visit and have a wealth of prehistoric and historic things to see. I am so very glad I went.

Both McKinlay Kidd (the tour organizer) and our tour guide were exceptionally good. McKinlay Kidd was very responsive to all my questions and concerns in a timely and pleasant manner. And our tour guide was very informative, amusing, and genuinely kind to everyone, including a couple with mobility issues.

Shetland and Orkney

An excellent ten day trip tailored perfectly to our brief, which was to cover as much of the geography, history and wildlife of Shetland and Orkney as possible. All flights, ferries, car hires and overnight stays were provided exactly as promised. This is close to unique in our long experience of travel.

Five days in Shetland

The trip was everything we’d hoped for. The scenery was stunning and we met the loveliest people. We enjoyed the variety of our days- historic sites, museums, connections to the Ann Cleeves books, interesting towns and villages.

Wonderful self-drive to Cambridge, Chipping Campden, finishing in London

We arrived at Heathrow, picked up our car at Arnold Clark, then drove to Cambridge (3 nights). We enjoyed a walking tour, punting, exploring the university area. We then drove to Chipping Campden (4 nights). Visited Blenheim, Hidcote, and explored the town. We then drove to London, turned in the car, and then stayed 3 nights in the Bloomsbury. The British Museum and St Paul's Cathedral are special places to visit.

One month in Scotland

We enjoyed one whole month in Scotland, a little over two weeks of which was orgnised by McKinlay Kidd based in Glasgow. From Melbourne, Australia I was able to liaise with Victoria to organise our visit to Scotland based on my personal desires and requests. A viable itinerary was created and we enjoyed all the accommodation choices that we made on our behalf. All our ferry crossings were organised with no problems. I'd highly recommend McKinlay ...
