Scottish highlands and Skye

Delightful scenery and well organised rail itinerary.. Tour of Skye was made interesting by the taxi driver in spite of the poor weather.

Without a hitch!

From Glasgow, we went to Oban, Portree, Pitlochry and then onto St. Andrews for golf before finishing our trip in Edinburgh and Glasgow. We chose not to drive, so depended on trains, drivers and ferries to get us from one place to another. Tom arranged for us to have local guides to show us around in our destinations.

Our holiday plans organized by McKinlay-Kidd went off without a hitch, despite multiple connections involving trains, drivers and ferries. We greatly appreciate his concern for making our trip easy for us. He went as far as to meet us—in person—at one train station to help us transport our luggage to another in order for us to make a connection!

Holiday in Mull and Skye

We had a lovely week spending a few days in Scotland starting in Glasgow going to Mull and Skye and ending in Edinburgh. It was lovely getting to see the countryside of Scotland and the Islands and see the beautiful villages, the magnificent scenery and have several ferry trips to add to the mix. The accomodation was of an excellent standard in all venues. And the route arranged was interesting allowing us to see some different parts of Scotland...

We contacted them in a bit of a panic about 6 weeks out as the other operator was unable to help due to high demand. They took over and arranged it all very smoothly taking all that worry away. They came up with a timetable, booked the accomodation and provided a great deal of information to give us ideas about what we could do while staying there. And at the first venue there was a comprehensive pack of information, maps and holiday ideas which we consulted. And there was a great app that we could download on our phones to check at any time. All in all a very smooth experience.

Irish Odyssey

We had an invitation to a wedding in County Clare, and wished to build a holiday around this, to have a proper chance to experience Ireland. We wanted to travel the West coast and also the Northern Causeway.

We have had shorter trips with McKinlayKidd , so knew that the standard of accommodation and dining would be excellent, and so it proved.

Ireland by Train

We had our first night in Dublin, then by train to Galway, for two nights which is beautiful. While there we went by ferry to the Aron Islands (not to be missed). Back to Dublin for two nights (great walking tour) then off to Belfast by train for three nights. Loved Belfast - Titanic Experience is amazing. Back to Dublin for three nights on our own before our return to the USA. All cities very walkable and everyone we met was very friendly...

Road trip through the Outer Hebrides

A seven day road trip starting in Barra (ferry from Oban) and finishing in Stornoway, Lewis ( ferry back to Ullapool). We drove through some of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen, walked along miles of deserted white beaches, and enjoyed the simple stress-free life of the islands.

Wonderful! Excellent organization. They understood what we were looking for and got it just right. But they didn’t just organize the holiday, they also kept looking after us during the holiday, warning us about one of our ferry departures which was brought forward by 3 hours, less that 12 hours before the planned departure.

Rating for tour operator:

Everything was really well organised, information provided in advance on what to see and do at every step of the way and hotels (which were all excellent) carefully selected. When our car broke down they quickly sorted out how to get to the nearest car hire, arranged the hire and kept in touch to ensure we were ok. AND this was all happening in the evening and early morning. They were superb, especially "pronounced K"!

Friendly consultant on the phone answered all my questions clearly. Information provided was clear and any paperwork was accurate as sent in good time. The option of the app for information was useful when you wanted to quickly check a detail. All accommodation was what was expected clean ,comfortable and fit for need. All taxis arrived when expected and tickets easily accessed

An amazing week in Scotland ! Loved being able to experience so many different parts of this amazing country !

A very well organised trip. Everything went very smoothly with very clear information from McKinlay Kidd about the trip, accommodation, trains and things to see in each place. I felt very safe as a single female traveler and would definitely do the trip again and have already recommended McKinlay Kidd to friends and family,
