My husband and I were fortunate to be part of a group of 15 wonderful fellow travelers on Mckinlay Kidd's Loch Ness, the Jacobite and Skye Rail Tour in July 2023. We had an wonderful time! We were well-taken care of by the Mckinlay Kidd's staff. We were treated to the many beautiful sites that are the Scottish Highlands!

Working with McKinlay Kidd was easy. They took care of all hotel arrangements, train rides and transfers, and many of our meals on our 7 day holiday. Their tour leaders Ciernan and Karen were extraordinary and truly made our holiday a delight!

We had a fabulous time ! We particularly enjoyed our stay at OldPines and the delicious food ! The views of Ben Nevis from Loch Linnhe and seeing the seals was very special. We saw some wonderful scenery on the Jacobite train journey and the views on Skye were spectacular !

Excellent tour operator ‘McKinlay Kidd’. Highly organised with great communication, we had everything in advance of our journey so we knew what to expect. The hotels were very well chosen.

We had never been to Scotland before and this was a wonderful introductory tour. We covered most of the Western Highlands, from Oban to Mull, Iona and Staffa, Ben Nevis to Isle of Skye, Plockton to Inverness, Thurso to Orkney, and Craingorm National Forest to Pitlochry. Although we only spent a couple of days in each location, it was a great way to find out where we would love to spend more time in the future. We can honestly say each day was better than the day before. The scenery was spectacular, the people friendly and the lodgings were very comfortable. We are considering longer stays next time in some of the places we visited, as well as adding other regions to enhance our next trip to the British Isles.

McKinlay Kidd did an excellent job from first quote to final itinerary with many suggestions of things to do and places to eat at each location. They kept in touch if information needed to be relayed timely, and generally gave us a worry free time during our stay in Scotland.

We wanted the independence of a road trip, without the burden of driving on the left side of the road. This rail journey was perfect. The carefully selected hotels and guesthouses were all beautiful places to stay, and we would never have found them on our own. The vacation exceeded our expectations. Amazing scenery, beautiful hotels, great food, great people!

McKinley Kidd put together an excellent rail journey around the Scottish Highlands. It was very well organized, and our instructions for travelling from one place to the next were very clear. We had not problems at all, and we loved our vacation.

McKinley Kidd were easy to communicate with, provided excellent individual service. I modified the trip to fit in with other plans and they arranged everything. Organising this from Australia was made so easy by the team. Their guides on the trip were fantastic.

Gardens and Castles in Scotland, guided tour by train. We could have more castles - less gardens We loved Skye and Glencoe

We felt protected and looked after during the trip. We have suggestions to make it better, but we have shared with them.

Could have been longer, so we’d have more time to appreciate the wonderful places.
