We loved the entire trip to the West Highlands! Our guide was so enjoyable, very knowledgeable, kind, resourceful and fun. The group of 13 guests were lively and I’d love to travel with this group any time in the future.

He was quite knowledgeable and an excellent tour guide. I would love to have another tour where he was our guide once again.

Grand tour of Scotland by 8 train trips

This was a holiday planned with MK for 2020 when Covid hit and cancelled everything. So we planned again for May-June this year - but our request got lost when an MK employee resigned. It took MK several weeks to get our request back on track and another several weeks to repair the Itinerary - but they acknowledged their problems and gave us a wonderful trip in the end, including ongoing personal advice as we made our way around Scotland.

Everything about the trip was fantastic, from the itinerary to the lodging to the transport and of course the food. The entire trip went off super smoothly, without the slightest hitch. The trip had a great balance of group activities and free time, and the activities were quite diverse -- from historical abbey visits to garden tours to a dolphin-watching boat trip. I couldn't have asked for a more interesting and relaxing trip.

Meticulously planned trip with expert logistics. I was amazed how smoothly our tour guide shepherded our group around Scotland. There wasn't even a hint of drama which is especially impressive considering how many places we traveled to.

10 night train tour around Scotland with stops in Sterling, Inverness, Plocton, Isle of Skye, and Spean Bridge. It was a great way to get a taste of Scotland. The weather was fantastic and we had the best time.

McKinlay Kidd arranged the train tour taking all the guess work out of it. It made for a worry free trip. They were easy to work with and the accommodations they arrange were magnificent.

We were celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday so were looking for something special. The flight in the Twin Otter plane and landing on the beach was a unique and memorable experience. The accommodation was excellent as was the full-day excursion exploring the island of Barra.

Everything went like clockwork, McKinlay Kidd organised the whole trip very efficiently. They took care of flights, accommodation, car hire and excursions. We were kept well informed in the run-up and they responded quickly to queries. We were provided with detailed documentation including travel tips, maps and recommendations.

Each venue along the way had its own characteristics which meant that each stay had its own particular charm. The driving distances were not onerous and so every day could be spent exploring the beautiful country of Ireland. We loved the people, the pubs and the general happiness of the places we visited. A cracking holiday up there among the best we have had.

The attention to detail was the thing most apparent for me. Talking to the property owners we met it was evident that someone had visited from McKinlay Kidd to ensure the accommodation and facilities were up to standard. The descriptions given were accurate.
