A wealth of knowledge given clearly and enthusiastically

This was a London Day with MR on Ancient Egypt, in the British Museum's Ancient Egypt's exhibition rooms. We were greeted by the MR administrator, issued with headphones, assisted with queries, introduced to our Lecturer. An outline of the day was given, stating clearly the itinerary and general information. As one who had never visited the British Museum's Egyptian Collection before, I was very impressed with the systematic way our Lecturer presented the subject: from the early beginnings of Egyptian hunter-gatherer people, to evolution into a more organised, static society, the development of hierarchy; the trade with surrounding areas, the depiction of daily life as recorded in pottery, statuary, funerary stelae, and with a nod to the major statues. Items that might have been passed by on an individual visit were highlighted and the stories surrounding them were charmingly portrayed. The chronological approach to the artefacts was helpful in allowing an understanding of what one was actually looking at, and how it had evolved from the previous level. This was a small group, albeit in a busy Museum, but the use of headphones allowed everyone to hear the Lecturer clearly. In a few short hours much information was given, absolute unique treasures were seen, and the Egypt of the past was laid before us. A great day out.

13 days in Sicily focusing on history, archaeology, architecture and gastronomy. A wide range of visits making the days quite exhausting but very rewarding. We visited Baroque churches, Norman cathedrals with Byzantine mosaics, Greco-Roman sites, museums and art galleries and private palaces open by special invitation . Gardens of the Riviera

A fascinating overview of a number of the gardens created from the late 19th century to the present day, showing the decline of some, the rebirth of others and the enthusiasm and expertise which has enabled new ones to be created.

A great experience with wonderful tour guides - the Best.

Gastronomic Emilia-Romagna with daily gourmet experiences, but balanced with in depth history of the Region and its architecture. At last we understand how great Italian food can be, to say nothing of the wine!

Very well organized with excellent hotels in just the right locations in old city centers. The tour included the right amount of free time to prevent exhaustion setting in and the Martin Randal tour guides were highly qualified and First Class.

Fantastic, eye opening Persia

Our two week tour of Persia was a wonderful, eye opening experience. I arrived with some trepidation and prejudice, but quickly learned that the Iranian people are some of the warmest, kindest souls I have ever met. Their history is fascinating and complex and very worth learning about. This tour was one of the most eye opening experiences of my life.

I don't know much about them. Except they're specialists in cultural travel. But they are very effective and efficient in what they do, if all their holidays run as well as this one.
