We toured Thuringia; starting in Eisenaach where Bach was born, and visiting the towns where he lived and worked (ohrduf, Arnstadt, Weimar, Leipzig. We heard concerts and choirs in local churches and halls in these locales. The tours was expertly run by helpful efficient and pleasant guides. The choice of music and musicians was superb.

A musical experience following the life and works of JS Bach in Germany. Accompanied by an expert lecturer, Nicholas Kenyon who provided enlightening briefings throughout the 6 days. We travelled from Frankfurt to Berlin passing though Eisenbach, Weimar and Leipzig, great hotels and food accompanied by helpful professional staff - perfection in every way A fantastic musican and cultural experience I will not forget

The holiday was called "Poet & the Somme". The nature of trench warfare was clearly explained by an talented lecturer with a deep knowledge of the subject. Many relevant sites were visited to show the various aspects of WWI. A professional actor read poems in their context - a very poignant experience. The visit to Thiepval Memorial, which incorporated a personal tribute to a member of the group's family, was particularly moving.

Excellently planned, organised, and varied programme of music in exceptional and special venues along the Danube. Some free time in Vienna and Bratislava. Comfortable ship with excellent food and wine. Good travelling companions - limited to approximately 100.

The Danube Festival provided a feast of superb music, in wonderful surroundings and in highly stimulating company. The whole week was brilliantly organised as ever, and we were lucky with the weather. What more could you ask?

We traveled by ship along the Danube attending concerts on period instruments and at authentic venues along the way. The concerts were supported by history and music lectures which put the music into an historical context. We enjoyed the ship, the food and not least of all the company. Everything was extremely well organised by very pleasant staff.

As intimated above, the organisation and attention to detail was superb. The staff were pleasant and sociable which added to the enjoyment.

A feast of excellent music in a variety of historic venues along the Dan in the company of delightful guest. A wonderful itinerary and a journey in a very comfortable ship.
