Our historian guide was first rate, he really knew his stuff and was a great story teller involving us in the strategy and tactics as we tramped up hills, across fields ad even through villagers' gardens to get the best vantage points or to see remains of WW2 gun emplacements, barbed wire and 'sangers' still evident. Our hotel had been the German army HQ and was next to the ruined village of old San Pietro Infine - now a national memorial to the War. The combination of lectures, site visits and walking was just perfect and we were very well looked after at the hotel, it was like staying with a family.

Rating for tour operator:

Martin Randall were excellent - we were well looked after throughout, not only by our historian but also a tour manager on the ground. The pre-departure holiday information was very detailed with itinerary information, maps etc. They also took care of my husband's food intolerances so that he had an alternative at every meal.

St. Petersburg

Under the guidance of Dr Alexey Makhrov with support from national guide Ludmila Mikhailuta our week in St. Petersburg surpassed our expectations. Both we hugely knowledgeable, thoughtful, charming and passion on any subject related to the city and Russia. We are experienced travellers: the St. Petersburg tour was made special because of our lecturer and guide.
