A tour of Greek and Roman archaeology sites around Naples

Very good organisation

As you are aware Martin Randall has an excellent reputation. The website information seemed thorough but the lack of information about the last day clearly caused problems for some of the participants. I didn’t expect to be ‘involved’ in issues participants had with the organisation but it was not possible to avoid. I felt, to be fair, to him, the Tour Manager had too much to do for 23 group members. So organisation became an issue for me. Had the tour guide not been so stellar I would have wished I had saved my money or spent it elsewhere.

The written information was mostly excellent so led to an expectation that the daily tour arrangements would go smoothly. They didn’t. There should have been basic information in the role of the Tour Manager and the Guide. Who was the leader? There should have been a nightly email to remind of the next day’s timetable. The tour manager should have followed through on what he said. Being left behind after a group dinner and nearly locked in at a toilet stop is not OK. Hearing him argue with a tour group member is not OK. Letting one group member dictate her terms as to her comfort on the trip ( at others’ expense) not OK. Surely MArtin Randall has enough experience to have learnt how these issues should be handled. The daily programme should have run smoothly but it didn’t. I had come a long way to do this tour and expected better. I had been on a 10 day privately run Italian language course just prior to this tour with 16 participants and it ran much more smoothly. Would I use MR again. Unlikely. The status of top cultural tour company is not to be believed!

The combination of music and sightseeing which is the hallmark of MRT festivals was once again an exceptional experience with every aspects of the arrangements as near perfection as possible.

Martin Randall Travel is right at the top of the tree when it comes to arranging and organising an intense experience for their understandably faithful clientele. Every detail is fully thought through, explored, checked and enjoyed. Their policy of producing excellent tour programme books and then making no announcements is unique and to be thanked for.

My holiday was three separate tours, one after the other, one of the great advantages of the MR offering. The first tour was to cities and towns largely off the beaten tourist track, the second was high level sacred music performances in villages and towns along the Camino and the third a festival of sacred music, both early and contemporary, in Santiago de Compostela. I went to places I would never otherwise have visited and head some brilliant performances during the latter two tours. The combination of location, history and music is irresistible,

Fascinating trip to discover early Christian art 4-7C. Enthusiastic, academic lecturer with charm and a sense of humour. Top grade travel and service during the trip, with delicious food and good accomodation.

Delightful Italian guide who always had a smile on her face, ensured everything happened smoothly and effficiently without any hassle. I was in the safest and most knowledgeable of hands on a breathtakeing tour.

Archeological theme plus some churches

Martin Randall : Have traveller with them many times and find they are helpful and use excellent, well informed lectureres

A journey partly walking and partly by coach along the Camino de Santiago. Commencing with a first night at Roncesvalles it included a learned lecturer and an efficient tour leader who greatly enhanced the journey as did some of the well chosen hotels used on stopovers and selection of sites for visits.

Martin Randall provided excellent tour staff who greatly enhances thee experience of an already well planned walk along parts of the Santiago pilgrimage trail.
